Sorry I just got to throw this in there, where are they living right now? People keep saying they wouldn't fire destiny for amberlynn's shit, which isn't really true. I think most states are "at will" which means they can fire you for pretty much anything. I can totally see a company who has a government contract fire the s.o of a former employee who was fired and is talking trash on social media, especially in a small town.

It blows my mind that someone's actually happy with seeing 481 on the scale. That's literally 20lbs away from half a ton.

The amount of weight she has to lose is almost unfathomable.

To put things in perspective: let's say she loses 5 lbs/week. It would take her over a year to just hit 200 lbs, which would STILL put her very comfortably in the "obese BMI" range.

Now let's keep in mind that while super humongous people can lose more than 2 lbs/week, it's a) very unhealthy for your body to rapidly lose weight and b) she'd have to be kicking ass at both her diet and exercise to have a chance to keep up this level of weight loss for an extended period of time.

Oh, and c): it would quickly become much more difficult to lose that much weight per week if she were to ever to begin approximating an appropriate human weight. So the 1 year timeline is more like 3-5 years if she's serious.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that there's a greater chance she gets a heart attack before 35 or has a limb sawed off from diabetes than her ever going below obesity in her lifetime.

Oh I agree. Especially since she can't commit to anything. I mean, she tried to drink WATER for a week-long challenge and failed. Weight-loss and maintaining it is x10 harder.

I can tell you right now from working with total and complete fuckups at various jobs, this is simply not true. Many companies are more fearful of wrongful termination lawsuits. Hell, I worked with a guy who literally lied about getting injured on the job, went to court, and was still allowed to keep the job AND was compensated for time he was lounging at home despite being a fuckup and telling coworkers he got injured at home. I've also worked with people who have had money (thousands of dollars) mysteriously go missing on their time - multiple times in the matter of weeks - and still kept their job. (They soon stopped showing up altogether. Way to be!) So the chances of Destiny getting fired are slim. Not impossible, just slim. I can see her being reprimanded and being embarrassed though.

So the thing with weight loss is that sooner or later, you're gonna plateau for a while as your body goes "wtf is happening, I need a minute to figure this out" and adjusts. That's where Amberlynn is going to have her biggest challenge because we all know she has no tangible will power. She's going to be riding high for a bit and then will see the number stagnate and get bummed out and eat a pint or two of fake sugar ice cream. Daily. That's likely what happened when she lost 80 pounds or whatever.
But I agree that she'll likely never not be obese. There's a really TINY optimistic part of me that thinks maybe - just MAYBE - if she achieved her goal (whatever that may be) she'd stop being a shit heel and own up to her ridiculous behavior and blame it on being miserable and fat. Until then she's gonna be a smug a-hole and disregard fans and trolls alike.

If Destiny worked for the government, there would be zero chance she would be fired for something like this, right to work state or no. The government has different standards and its incredibly hard to fire somebody. That's why gov't jobs are desirable jobs-once you get one, you pretty much have it as long as you want it. You can not show up, watch movies all day, show up drunk, and it can take years to get the documentation needed to get rid of somebody. (Sadly, I know this personally)

That said, Destiny doesn't work for the government. However, places that have government contracts have higher standards than most employers. To win a government contract, you typically have to meet criteria about percentage of female/minority employees and follow government rules about Human Resources, among many other things. They are less likely to fire somebody, especially a gay woman.

Finally, we have to remember Destiny hasn't done anything. She might be a great, dedicated employee for all we know. Few employers fire people for something their spouse or girlfriend did on her own time. Freedom of speech and all that. (If Destiny herself was badmouthing them, it could be different). If she is a decent employee, and they have nothing documented to say she isn't, they aren't going to risk a discrimination lawsuit.

If this was a tiny company in BFE Kentucky with 25 employees whose reputation was on the line, maybe it'd be different. But this is a company with 18,000 employees, they can absorb a negative comment by a mostly unknown youtuber. They live in a small town but it's a huge, nationwide company.

I could be wrong, but I at least, really would be surprised if there was any blowback on Destiny. Unless she's a really shitty employee too, of course. My impression though, is she goes to work and does her job. In that case, her coworkers may dislike her or take sides but her bosses probably don't care.

To be fair I'm not american. I just know the legality of firing someone in a "at will" state. Up here, if you had only worked in a government job for under 3 monthes and something like this happened and word got got out, I could see destiny getting canned over it. I've known plenty of idiots here get fired for much less.

So now fatso is considering gastric bypass surgery. Yeah AL, you need to show you lost weight first..and you know, have health insurance.

I wonder if Hamberlynn realizes that most weight loss surgeries (bypass, lapband) require patients to give up carbonated beverages (even diet soda and sparkling water) because the carbonation will stretch her stomach back to its former size, undoing the effects of the surgery altogether. She's ALWAYS talking about how she could never give up diet soda.

I believe Destiny would have already passed her 90-day probationary period that most jobs have. While people have been fired for stupid things, I don't think Destiny would be fired for any of the bullshit Amberlynn has been blabbing on about. While Amberlynn might be making work-relations difficult for Destiny and her coworkers, the company would only make things worse by firing Destiny and giving Hamberlynn a real reason to rant about how horrible the company is. So far, Hamberlynn's lies aren't holding up, and she's only making herself look bad (as usual). The company would have to be stupid to give Amberlynn real ammunition.

If she'll even reach plateau stage. That in itself can take months to reach, and months more to break, if you're still dieting by the time you break through. :powerlevel:When I was on Weight Watchers, a woman in my group had plateaued for eighteen months before she began losing again. My first plateau was about four months or so in and lasted maybe two weeks.:powerlevel: If you give up on something not even two days in, you're never going to see any sort of results. There's a reason why medical conditions have a minimum period that your symptoms must occur in to get a diagnosis. Someone purging one time isn't bulimic. Similarly, anyone can be vegan for a day. It's called Meatless Mondays.

Another issue is that since your body registers that it's starving when one's losing weight, then her inevitable weight gain will jump faster than if she just gained it from "normal" overeating. If she ballooned after a great weight loss then I'm not surprised in the slightest. AL not only needs to want to change, but she needs to accept that there will be hurdles. Even weight loss surgery isn't an overnight thing. It's entirely possible to overeat to the point of enlarging your stomach or breaking your lapband. But in her own little world, nothing is her fault, ever. She can readjust her body to make the scale read much lighter than she actually is, or claims that it broke. It's not her, guys, it's that piece of crap scale- all two of them! It's one thing to say and another to do, AL.

Been lurking this thread for a little while and finally have a little input, I think.

When a person gets this big and is saying things like, "I can't live without soda!" or, "I can't live without carbs/sugar!" they're at the point where something as extreme as surgery isn't going to do anything.

She needs a therapist. She needs help finding out why she feels like she needs to stuff her face with all that garbage, and once she finally has that answer and has a battle plan, then she can work on the much needed lard removal. Otherwise, like you all keep saying, the surgery is just going to be an expensive waste of time and money. It's not going to help her. She needs to understand and deal with her mental/emotional attachment to food before anything related to weight loss will be sustainable, otherwise she's just going to fuck it up and fail hard and blow up even bigger when she tries to cope with that failure.

People just don't get that fucking fat unless they have serious emotional issues. (or some other, more physical medical condition. but we all know that isn't the case with amber here.)

She's fat because she had the typical shitty foster kid life. If she can find a doctor to help her fight off those demons, she'd eventually stop trying to fill the emotional void with food and THEN she'd be able to start losing weight.

She won't though, because it's harder to face your inner turmoil than it is to just blame everything else and go under the knife. Seeing a therapist would also require her to be honest for a change in order for it to actually work and she can't do that, either. She doesn't want real help, she wants an easy button. That's why she's in this mess in the first place. Food's easy.

Spot on. This bitch is lazy and is unfortunately fits the stereotype when it comes to fat lazy Americans. -_-
I and several others have gone to her YouNow and left comments on Youtube about her possibly seeking therapy. It is exactly as you said - her ginormous size is caused by some emotional issues she needs to address. She just ignores what we say while answering dumb questions like "what's your favourite store", or responds to hate comments. She's a lost cause.

She knows she has emotional issues - she's addressed her depression. But she is such a huge narcissist she doesn't wanna see she had deeper, underlying issues. She always has to think she's right, she's the victim, and everyone and everything else is the problem, not her. Actually, I think if you tell her to seek therapy she considers it a hate comment and will block you from YouNow.
