I swear, every time I see her dark knuckles, I immediately examine my fingers. Does anyone else do that, too? LOL

Her knuckles are really bad. I don't know much beyond jaundice about skin discoloration, or why, or even notice it until it's pointed out to me, but her skin is really foreboding. Her eyes are encircled by dark, black patches and her knuckles and fingertips look like they were brushed with ash. If my skin looked like that I'd be freaking out. At first I chalked it up to bad lighting or leftover makeup, but there's something obviously medically wrong there and she doesn't seem to care. Or maybe she does care but hopes it'll go away. If she buys another tacky art-print or enough picture frames, maybe it'll just go away.

The brownish skin discoloration on her knuckles and around her eyes is called acanthosis nigricans, and it's definitely a cause for concern. It's an early warning sign to clean up your shit before the beetus gets you, because if you don't already have it, you're soon going to.

When you're constantly spiking your blood glucose levels, and your pancreas is constantly cranking out insulin to deal with it, excess insulin in the blood stream that has nowhere else to go migrates to the skin, causing this brown discoloration. Fix your diet, get your BG under control, lose weight, and eventually it will fade away.

The sooner she changes things, the better; she might still luck out, still only be insulin resistant ("pre-diabetic") and be able to reverse it easily by switching to a low-carb diet. Hell, even some full-blown Type 2s still get diagnosed early enough to bring it under control and manage it by diet alone, without needing insulin.

If she doesn't get her BG under control, however, she's in for a long, drawn-out nightmare. Diabetes is nothing to fuck with; the consequences of letting it go completely unchecked can mean death, and controlling it half-assedly leads to kidney damage, foot and leg amputations, cardiovascular disease, difficulty fighting off infections--it's horrifying.

She's still young; she could potentially turn her life around and spare herself a lot of agony and an early death. But this being AL, I have a horrible feeling she won'r.

Damage is done, shes been over 300 pounds for many many years now. Her organs have already been through a lot, not to mention shes almost 27 years old your metabolism starts to slow so shes only going to gain more. Girl has been fat since middle school. Admitting she was over 300 in high school. Now hovering at the 480-500 mark because she doesnt want to admit shes offically half a ton. She wont change her habits until they come for her feet. Shes in heavy denial and a food addict who thinks shes already dieting when she is far from it. Shes a lost cause at this point not only is she ignorant but also full of herself. Fat acceptance movements are aiding these people to keep killing themselves. I am waiting for the lymphatic issues to arise because they will

I don't think Twinkie feels good. Iirc in some of the recent vlogs Twinkie is just laying down, listless, not jumping up on AL as usual. Then this growling at AL. I wish she would take Twinkie to the vet instead of doing all those narcissistic Wal-Mart hauls--me,me,me...screw the dog.

She buys a wall decor that says " I love my fur baby" and calls it a day instead of using that money to pay for their vet bills. She obviously LOVE her pets.

Awww Beast is live and I can't even watch her since I'm working. Hopefully someone can do a re-cap of it later. She must need some donations badly! Usually she's still sleeping at the time.

What's really disturbing about those two screen captures is that her nose is red and there are red patches on her face. I don't wanna powerlevel too much but I unfortunately hail from a family of fatties and that red nose says to me that AmberLynn may have sleep apnea that is resulting in polycythemia.

I think most people know that the extremely obese often suffer from sleep apnea, which essentially means they stop breathing when they sleep. The cessation of breathing or closed airways seldom lasts long but occurs frequently, making it impossible to sleep well, causes snoring, etc. It can eventually become fatal but before that happens the chronic lack of oxygenated blood can cause a person to overdevelop red blood cells, a condition called polycythemia. One of the symptoms of polycythemia is a red nose. The lighting in those pics is not great so those rings around her eyes could also be symptoms of polycythemia. People with chronic hypoventilation when they sleep also generally have high blood pressure.

And for all of us blessed enough to see photos of AmberLynn's little hooves, her legs show she's got lymphedema. She's got that frightening skin overhang from her calves that eventually makes it hard to see that people with the condition have feet at all. Her bulbous legs also appear to have the pockets of lymph that create huge, tumor-like protrusions. She is paranoid about her legs most of all and I suspect the lymphedema is why she is so frequently pants-less. Even with pants large enough to fit her in general, the pockets of lymph in her legs make it hard to push them down into even the most forgiving stretch pants.

It's pretty much non-negotiable that AL has diabetes and lymphedema. The rest I discuss is just from what I observed after watching loved ones suffer from the effects of super-morbid-obesity. Just diabetes and lymphedema are putting her body through extreme stress - this girl has a BMI pushing 90. It would not surprise me one bit if before the year is out Dustin goes to take AL on one of her WalMart runs and finds she died in her sleep. We see so many behemoths on TLC freak shows who are much older than AL, but they gained weight slowly over their lives. Not with AL. She ballooned too fast for her body to really adjust.

Oh and remember this when those HAES assholes tell you that you can't tell if someone is healthy just by looking at them. That can be the case - you can't look at a person and tell if they have beginning stage colon cancer. But you sure can tell if someone is unhealthy just by looking at them. AL is unhealthy as fuck.

I agree with you except that her death is that close. I've been watching M600PL since it's inception. It's rare that the person has not always been fat-most were 200 lbs in middle school, like AL. She is unlikely to live past 50 but young bodies can take a lot of punishment before they get there.

Other that that, I agree with you. She definitely has lymphedema, and I'd bet apnea too. A cPap will be prescribed next doctor appointment, if there is one. (Alternatively, hospitalization). Those dark knuckles show diabetes. Girl is sick.

I have often wondered what will get through to people like her. It seems to me when you see the surgery parts of these shoes, where they show fat literally surrounding every organ, why that isn't enough to wake people up? I understand denial but in a lot of cases, the effects are invisible. Not so with obesity. Are they ignorant to what a normal body is like? Do they know that most of us don't have that gross yellow fat all through our organs? AL says she watches that show so she sees those scenes.

I don't know, I guess she's just never going to be strong enough to deny herself something she wants, no matter the consequences.

To be fair, if you're home all day, most dogs won't be hyper and jumping around all happy to see you. However, I do agree that she needs to take Twink to the vet. His (or her) breathing in that hot Cheeto challenge video was disturbing.

I wanted to say she probably feeds him a bunch of shitty table scraps that are really bad for him, like super high in trans and saturated fats, too much sodium, and too caloric, then I remembered it's Amberlynn and the idea of her sharing food with anyone would shock me.

I wonder who could lick a plate clean faster, crumbs and all, her or the dog? Hahaha.

Couldn't it also be a URI? If Amberlynn keeps spraying that cheap perfume 'n stuff, that could cause allergies or infections to small animals as well. Along with the fat... The poor thing looks miserable.

:powerlevel:I work at an animal hospital so seeing obese dogs is common, sadly. People believe, truly, that their dog will be "upset" if they don't give them treats, when it's just common fucking sense that the human in charge has control over the diet. Your dog won't die if you stop giving it human food suddenly. They're better off without it.

If AL is feeding this dog high fat table scraps...that dog is having gastrointestinal problems, no exceptions. But who is walking this dog to use the bathroom? All of that stress in the intestinal tract will give him loose stools. AL can't, she can barely waddle. So where...is he going...:'(

If she continues down this path with this dog, this dog will get liver/kidney disease. IDK how old the dog is now, but age definitely increases the chances of developing hepatic or renal failure, especially in dogs that have poor nutrition.
