I think the issue is that both Amber and Chantal did not future-proof their income. Relying solely on YouTube is a fool’s paradise. They could have tried to find other sources of income, broaden the type of content they post, gone to school to learn trade or a profession while having YouTube paid for that education. But no. They believed that the gravy train would never end. For them, it is instant gratification.
This is a point I think not many realize: unless you have other opportunities or business ventures, YouTube alone is not going to sustain someone for the rest of their life. Less than 1% are able to retire early and comfortably and even they have to look for other ways of future proofing their income. Amber is a creature of instant gratification and since she didn't have enough remaining braincells to rub together to think about the long-term, she's as good as fucked.
good job on the part of YouTube, I always found them disgusting. alongside the body-positivity stuff, off-topic but did yall see fashion magazines and influencers killed the movement the second Ozempic came to the market? apparently everyone wanted a skinny body (go figure) but didnt want the effort that came with losing weight and maintaining it and these mags just indulged in the lack of discipline
There's been a fair bit of discussion about this in the Fat Positivity/Activism thread but a general consensus is that FatPo/HAES is now in a death rattle spiral because the GLP-1s revealing the movement to be nothing but snake oil and that while there's nothing to be ashamed of in going on a GLP-1, (because some people genuinely do struggle with weight loss even if they follow a strict diet and exercise alone) you still have to put in the effort (diet and exercise) in order for them to be truly effective for weight loss. Things that Amber is allergic to, of course.
Youtube is fucked. They set themselves up as a legitimate way to make a living but then allow your monetization to be taken away by something as simple as some disgruntled fan reporting all your videos then give you no way to talk to a real person about the issue. Idk how there hasn't been a massive lawsuit brought against them.

Karina points out a major issue for Amber, too and that is her taxes for years 2025/26. Her taxes are easily in the 20-30k range. She made 30k in SuperChats this year. In reality ,21k after their cut.
Karina is a repetitive pearl clutcher but she's not wrong. However, I'm not sure where YouTube falls under the whole "no taxes on tips" deal if that's even made it to official tax law in the US.
Amber is a shitty person and she deserves every bad thing that happens to her, but it's still fucked that YouTube's system for dealing with issues like is horrifically inept and useless for the average person. Not everyone is privileged like Ethan Klein, Markiplier, PewDiePie, etc. in having some backchannel to get issues taken care of same business day.

Kind of optimistic don't you think? I don't follow Big Al too closely, but we are too assume she doesn't have at least a small nest egg to keep her afloat for a few months? I know most cows are awful with money, and usually spend it as fast as they get it... But I mean she has to have enough to at least get her to February no?

YouTube has never claimed to be an employer. The vast majority of people on YouTube aren’t really making a living - if anything at all - and anyone who manages to should be putting as much away as possible. There are very few people who make enough to not worry about money for a long time.
That said, YouTube’s handling of this kind of thing is genuinely awful. Google is the same way with a lot of their ad platform. The guidelines are not very specific and they don’t want to involve humans because that is actually what could set them up for issues. All platforms use very vague language so they can cushion themselves from litigation.
Anyone to the right of Chairman Mao has probably watched half the people they like lose channels, get kicked off social media, etc. with no explanation. I didn’t really think they’d ever go after people like ALR so it’s interesting they are cracking down on her channel like this. Chantal better pay attention.
Youtube has always been a great way to make extra money if you can get monetization, but a living? For most people? Good luck with that. But, yea, demonetization is certainly a specter that looms over a lot of people.
Just caught up with her livestream there and Jesus H Christ she looks bigger than ever. I thought black was supposed to be slimmeen? Seeing this as she proclaimed "My face is smaller, I can see my ears" had me fucking rolling. Porkahontas must have one of those funhouse mirrors that makes you look like a skinny legend if she geeeenyooenleeee thinks she's LOST weight.

YouTube has never advertised themselves as a way to make a living, anyone with above roomtemp IQ figured that out a long time ago. It's best served as a vehicle to establish ones self before venturing into something else while keeping it as a way to advertise/stay relevant. It's why most people who make it big on YouTube transition to streaming or doing stuff elsewhere, while posting VODs/edited videos of that content on the channel.

Amber anticipated having a long term moved in partner that has their own income by now. Her goal since Becky left was to have a partner with money and she could just upload garbage here and there to supplement her food budget. She seems to have some kind of savings to not upload for weeks and to pay rent on a empty apartment while she lays around at Emily’s house.
Ain’t no way around it now, big Al’s gotta turn to them feeder websites to make a living. This means layg reveal is imminent. I’m sure someone here will take one for the team and find her on those sites.
She'll be doin personalized crumble cookie videos by the end of the month. No way cameos will cover the bills, they will barely cover the daily doordash cost.
I recommend gingerbread cookies to get her in the Christmas spirit! Merry Christmas hamber!
True that she won't notice extreme changes short term. But she could be very fucked with her approach of it all and based in her personality.
At this point she most definitely received strikes upto the point of demonitization. This has quite a big impact on what amount of ad revenue she will receive (this varies per channel), how much youtube promotes her channel, and how much ads are visible in the first place. Most companies choose not to be associated with problematic (stricken of restricted) channels.
We know she lost monetization near the end of the month, on the 19th. We saw it happening yesterday.
Youtube pays on the 20th. So, by that logic she practically has a full month to receive. But, she barely uploaded the part of that month (20th to 31st October). So no income on that part. She realised this and had the brilliant idea to go live every day of November. That was shortlived and stopped after 8 days. Now I think it's because she got a strike from youtube but she could also just be her lazy self. Whatever it is, no income over this period and right after that she got demonitized. So the paycheck is gonna be very little for her. Keep in mind that legacy views are minimal and won't be received when demonitized.
She could kinda fix it by working extra hard in December but that plan only works if she gets her monetization back.
Meanwhile she is still getting mass reported on all of the remaining content which could lead to another period of punishment or maybe even a total ban of her channel.
There is still something she can do to at least try to not making this all happen. She needs to privatise ALL of her content and only make public what fits in youtubes new TOS.
She's too lazy to do that. She much rather let the haters sift through it all. Beside that, she is desperately and smugly trying to portray as if nothing major is going on and it'll blow over. And that is exactly the tactic that can cost her her channel at this point. Because youtube keeps striking with every new removal or restrictioned video, which could now result in a permaban.
Even if she plays her cards right, she is not getting pushed by Youtube anymore on "for you" pages, she is no longer interesting for the majority of ads and most importantly: she'd have to make money without whining about her weight, mentulz or food. There's nothing left for her.
So yeah, she can be smug for a little while but if she's not doing a total wipe and rebrand her chances of being seriously fucked are big.
It gets even more fun:
YouTube normally gives you a 30-day cooldown before you can reapply for monetization.
Steps to reapply:
1: Fix the issues YouTube listed in your monetization status tab
– remove, edit, or privatize problematic videos
– update thumbnails/titles/descriptions
2: Wait until the “Reapply” button appears in YouTube Studio → Monetization.
3: Click Reapply and submit your channel again for review.
4: YouTube will review your whole channel again (usually 1–30 days).
If they deny again, the cooldown becomes 90 days before the next reapply.

it's upsetting when it happens to everyone but amber. Maybe she'll finally pull it together and loose weight so she can maintain a job now that she has no way to get any money
i can't say i'm surprised! our gorl really pulled through.
i looked through her channel out of curiosity and laughed so hard when i saw the WIEIAD videos where she claimed she lost 35 pounds, is the 35 pounds in the room with us or..?
