Question for the americans: I she really was diabetic, how much would you say roughly would it cost her monthly? I can see why some americans dont go to the doc when they have a cold (here the waiting rooms are full of people that coughed twice), but in her position that is so risky. And its really confusing what kind of insurance there is available in the us. Especially since parts of obamacare are being stopped? So please bear with me, i am just an eurofag.

So someone said a checkup would cost her roughly $200, damn just do it twice a year... But sure, she is the picture of a healthy lady, so why bother.

To get a diabetes diagnosis without insurance would be cost a good chunk of money in the US. Treating it would be even more expensive. She would have to pay to see a primary care doctor, pay for blood labs to measure her A1C, and then pay for medications and likely insulin. She should also see a dietician and start a diabetic diet to control her blood sugar, since medication and insulin alone aren't enough to lower blood sugar to a healthy range. If she was a responsible adult, she would have signed up for health insurance. However, we all know that she would rather spend that money on stuffing her gullet full of shitty food and buying worthless junk at Walmart.

It's just a matter of time before her undiagnosed diabetes will start causing serious health complications. It may not happen for a while yet, since it's impossible to tell what her average blood glucose is without an A1C, but at her weight it's a certainty.
