I just tried to run a couple of quick, and inaccurate, calculations. If she really grossed $10k per month and totalled $120,000 in 2018, she'd have owed about $16k in self-employment taxes (FICA and Medicare) and about $20k in income taxes if she only took the standard deduction (unlikely.) But add in a few thousand of whatever Kentucky state taxes are, and you've got $39k.View attachment 810695
