It seems she's never matured past preteen state of mind.
She fails to see she's been an adult for 11 years. That's plenty of time to realize what she's doing to herself.

I'm her height but normal weight, and I tried walking like I imagine she would have too, her legs being so thick despite bone structure, and it actually hurt pretty quickly. Maybe just cause my body isnt used to having to walk like that, but, its horrifying to imagine being in that body... those tree trunk legs dont even look real... how is she still mobile? I am morbidly curious about how living in that body would feel

If Amber was still a child, the blame would be 100% on the parents. But Amber is not a minor and hasn't been a minor for 11 years. At some point you gotta stop blaming the circumstances you grew up in and work to better yourself.

She does think something is wrong with her ( muh binge-eating disorder, muh bipolar disorder, muh obsessive compulsive personality disorder, muh anxiety, muh depression ) but she'd rather self-diagnose and use it as an excuse rather than go regularly and seriously to a psychiatrist and/or psychotherapist and get a proper diagnosis AND behavioral treatment.
But therapy isn't instantaneous, just like diets, you need to commit to it, it's constant effort and a fight against yourself, you have to get out of your comfort zone and we know AL doesn't like that.

IIRC, both birth parents were into drugs. So their weight isn't a fair assessment? I mean, anyone can be skinny on amphetamines

Well, it's common knowledge she doesn't shower daily, sleeps in her make up, is negligent in regards to her hygiene in general, so it wouldn't be surprising that she doesn't brush her teeth. With all the shit she eats, I bet they're rotting already, adding to her general smell.
