Who says they didn't? The Justice Department opposed his asylum in his 2017 deportation hearing appeal. The official position of the U.S. Government was (and presumably still is) he shouldn't fucking be here. Amos counter-argued that if he goes back to Singapore, he'd be persecuted. Judge sided with Amos.Shame on the FBI for not monitoring him from the start.
I think what happened after that is they pulled back a safe distance, and just watched. Waiting for him to fuck up.
