A lot of the times they will move inmates that have charges like his to other facilities where there is mostly people with non-violent charges or with same kind of charges as his. As much as a lot of people would like to see them get the rope they can't just throw them into Gen pop. knowing they will get killed.
He really has no other choice considering the fact that he can't go back to Singapore and this charge could put his asylum status in jeopardy.
It's somewhat of a myth that you just automatically die as a pedo in prison. There are some criminals whose crimes are so gruesome that they will get shanked but they've become reasonably good at keeping most people like this alive. Even when someone like Dahmer got killed, he not only hadn't asked for special protection, he actually openly taunted other prisoners with his crimes, and even with those involving murdering and eating black guys, it was still a literal schizophrenic who killed him.
I didn't mean to insinuate you just get killed for being a pedo because most of the time you don't but people like Amos Yee who have a prolific background and with coverage by major outlets its different. A lots of pedo's and the sort survive because people don't know their crimes and they can hide it and they aren't "worth" killing. instead they are raped, beaten, extorted, ect. since these things are more inconspicuous then outright killing someone.
He somewhat suspiciously "accidentally" ended up alone on a job detail with a guy who was known to hate his guts, and another guy also hated by the same guy, who took the opportunity to murder both of them.

Or he realizes he's absolutely fucked if he's deported and is going to face worse than prison here could possibly be, and is desperate to avoid a conviction, which he'd automatically get if he pled guilty. I could easily see the prosecutor just saying fuck paying to feed this guy for years, just send him back to where he'll get worse.

I wish they could just ship his pervy ass back to Singapore and let him be their problem but I think he actually has to stand trial here first. Of course, people warned State about him before asylum was granted, but he got turned into a martyr for free speech by well meaning idiots.
I feel like people forget that Amos wasn't always a pedo activist and he was originally arrested for making fun of Lee Kuan Yew after he died and then again for making fun of Christianity and Islam.
Fair point, especially since he kept whatever he thought about pedophilia in general mostly under wraps until he was in the US. In Singapore he rode off the whole freedom of speech thing so hard it’s hard to properly tell.
The question is after being granted asylum like he was, can they still send him back? I honestly have no idea how that even works. Can they deport him knowing that if he does go back he's liable to spend the rest of his life in a Singaporean jail?
Yes they can. I hope he does. I doubt itll be a life sentence. I think he gets whatever the sentence for skipping military duty is probably
Well if he gets caned a dozen times I don't think anybody will really shed a tear. Although he definitely will because of that. Bastard won't be able to sit down for weeks afterwards.
