`Arrange marriages have been used throughout history for various reasons and have grown unpopular as society has liberalized within the past couple of centuries. However there could be case for the reconstruction of this concept to solve a modern problem. Historicaly arrange marriages were used for political, religious, and economic reasons however I do believe there was an unoffical fourth reason. To force two people of opposite sex with a lack of social skills to lean off one and another to get them through life and to continue their family line. I believe that had Chris Chan been given a partner that both understands him and wanted to push him out of the whole he is in he could have had a better life. The same could be said of the incel problem. I believe an early intervention like an arrange marriage could prevent people of developing into the mind of an incel like Elliot Rodger.
I'm not saying this does not have it's share of problems nor would work out all the time but it would have given someone like Chris Chan a better shot at a better chance at life had this had happen to him in let's say 2008.

Nobody would have wanted to arrange a marriage with Chris-Chan. What social capital is there to gain from that?
You marry the person that created Cwcville, you might get him to immprove to have him get a job. Maybe the government would pay you to marry a person like Chris-Chan.

government mandated girlfriends are a far sight from anything that could ever possibly happen in the US. the real answer to this is AI-powered big data dating. there's far more than enough information out there to have you take a survey and then have an AI recommend incredibly likely compatible partners.

Arranged marriages don't always work. The only one I've ever known that actually ended up as a happy/faithful marriage was between an Indian coworker and his wife. It only worked because they happened to be friends before their families arranged everything.

And that's the thing, for such a concept to truly "work", at least both people have to be willing to put out something in the very least. Chris said it himself that he wanted to be a "househusband" type person in a relationship. He wouldn't work, he definitely wouldn't have a good concept of saving money, and he has absolutely nothing to offer to a woman. His family would have to be extremely rich in order to pay another family an extremely good dowry just for the privilege of trying to get a woman to be with him, because at least Chris' family would already expect said possible "wife" to do everything as Chris wanted.

You should probably ask someone from Asia or the M.E, rather than a western-oriented website, if you want half-decent arguments for arranged marriage in the 21st Century.
On the contrary, western-oriented websites are the best evidence for why arranged marriages, and many other such things should come back.

As for this sort of thing helping Chris or Elliot, for Chris absolutely not. I can't imagine any parents wanting to set their daughter up with someone like that unless they just truly hated her, and if that had been the case, I can't imagine any clergy actually honoring their decision to arrange the marriage. For Elliot, it's possible that it would have been helpful, but there was more going on there than just the incel thing. There are plenty of men who don't get laid for whatever reason. Most of these men don't kill a bunch of randos. On the flip side of that though, arranged marriages absolutely get rid of most of the social jockeying that occurs within adolescents' formative years, which is most likely the root cause of many such antisocial behaviors.

More to Chris, the main western traditional standard which would have helped him would have been the male-dominated household. Women are meant to be subservient to men and had Bob had the authority in the household that he should have had, it's highly unlikely Chris would have turned out this way.
