One of the rules here is that KF is not an asylum or your personal blog. But it's also taken on a bit of a zoo/freak show environment, where one can peruse the lolcow board, and gawk at the Internet denizens some have found, along with witnessing any chimpouts. As Null said, "you are being entertained or you ARE the entertainment".

My idea is to give the ones seeking "asylum" what they want. Much like unscrupulous insane asylums of days of old, if you want to be a powerleveling weirdo and post long rants no one will read, you can! (This also keeps other boards clean of this sort of thing). You can have one thread of your own to do whatever (though you cannot upload files). It's not a hugbox (your posts could still be getting downvotes or whatever) and it's not invincible (if you're a profoundly awful, awful person, you could still get the boot).

The forum is not visible to guest users, always visible to banned users, and for registered users can be visible or invisible (if that's possible with the forum software).
 
Eh we kinda have threads in Off Topic for that.

This is literally the purpose of Tumblr and WordPress. We don't need that shit happening here.

We only put up with a lot of that because it's impractical to get rid of all of it and, being a judgment call, people would disagree anyway on what exactly is too much powerleveling. "I'd like to preface this by saying I like the idea of fucking dogs" is kind of the canonical example of way too much, but there's a lot of borderline and semi-acceptable stuff already.

Outright encouraging it would be a step too far and that shit would explode.
 
Open it,wait a month, ban everyone who used it. Problem solved.
 
If there was an asylum board i would hate to go there i only post my gripes about my lack of a sex life to my friends on this webzone because my BITCH MOM keeps yelling at me to focus on getting a job and move out when I ask her to find me a gf now but I tell her that nobody wants to hire a college dropout with anxiety, autism and PTSD issues and she tells me to go to a doctor she knows i hate doctors ever since my pediatrician abused me when he misgendered me why won't she understand

Yeah, it does sound like a bad idea, being both redundant and a license to act like a psychopath. I do remember from reading the "Tales of 4chan" tumblr that /r9k/ is just that bad (:cryblood:). Best to keep it on Tumblr then if it's "good" enough, it will be discovered here. :cool:

(No, it's not for my benefit to write there, otherwise I wouldn't have logged in with my own name here...geez)
 
I would agree with this if the users posting on the board are anonymous and we'll never knew who are the members posting in the board, but it'll most likely turn into a huge shitpost central very quick.
 
Honeypots never work without a disguise. Most people won't post in a subforum with the subtitle "Here We Laugh at You!". A vague pretense is needed, which is why Tumblr and Community Watch work great for that purpose.

On the other hand, I could see people taking advantage of and embarrassing themselves in an "advice board". People have used the Loveshy "Therapy" Center to ask the forum how to get laid because autism knows no bounds.

In general though it doesn't seem like a good idea to make a board for the sole purpose of cannibalizing our own users. This isn't EDF, we don't encourage halal. That's why we're going to other sites for that.

I think this is a good idea, but for normies? That's lowering the bar.

No, we should have an asylum board for lolcows. A subforum where they can be cows without arguments or ridicule. Just let them roam free. :semperfidelis:
