I've never been very interested in following Greg/James antics, though the past few months alone have been one hell of a shitshow.
I tried to go through his current thread as to understand how things lead up to those recent events, yet the thread is so filled to the brim with new crap happening almost daily. Also doesn't help that OP seems fairly outdated when you account for all of the far more outlandish shit that's come up since then.
On top of all that, there are plenty of orbiters and interactions to account for, like Chris Hansen's investigation into him or the lawsuit against Daniel (Repzion) that could warrant their own threads.

I think this might end up the same as Magical Star Buddy Greer's subforum. Lots of activity in the main thread, but most of the new threads that did pop up never got much traction.
This, the main content from Onion boy is from his own videos or his orbiting anti-O crusaders. After the investigation finishes the content will likely die slowly and painfully. He goes through so many dry periods that even the main thread devolves into shit talking Hansen when it runs out of content. If the investigation does actually result in him getting some kind of punishment, then the orbiters have 0 content left and will also likely die out too.

The only issue is when he does post some new content, the thread starts moving so fast it's hard to keep up with, especially if he starts uploading 20 videos a day whining about his exes and digging his own grave by incriminating himself again. I think if we can utilize the highlight function a bit more for important posts detailing video content/streams/discord leaks it could work just as well as having a sub forum with mega-threads for those topics.

@Pizza Munch has an updated OP I’m just waiting on tweeks to edit it because it hit the character limit and will take multiple posts. I’m also working on retrieving archives of his now lost videos in my spare time after some help from @multiverse .

Either way it would be a nightmare to enforce any rules and would probably need to be a containment sub. Plus it’ll fizzle out fast, turn into the same things being repeated over and over during content lulls, and devolve into slapfighting.

Noted.

From my point of view the main benefits of Onision getting his own subforum would be that it streamline discussion around him, making it the storylines surrounding him easier to follow and will hopefully decrease people bringing irrelevant, old drama that could derail the current discussion of specific drama. It could also attract a lot of web traffic due to the fact he's universally hated and is a lot of people want to talk about him.

The main downsides are as mentioned in this thread, Greg frequently goes through dry periods and a lot of drama around him fizzles out very quickly. There's also the possibility of autists shitting up the threads and main thread even more than they already do in his current thread.

While I can kinda understand why, I feel like eventually the Onision shitshow will just die down. He's not really a Yaniv type where stuff still happens constantly. Besides the main thread is a total trainwreck and a subforum sounds like even more of a mess.

Sorry to necro, but I do have a question: if the Discovery+ documentary proves to be successful enough to the point where Greg starts generating content in spades, would a subforum then be feasible? It would also open up a lot of opportunities to talk about stuff adjacent to Onision, like Shiloh and her own brand of terminally exceptional behaviour, the specifics of Greg's finances, his fans/orbiters, his legal shit, and all that other stuff.

Rate me optimistic, but if Null initially said no to Ethan Ralph's subforum back In August only to have a change of heart a few months later, I think it's something worth considering.

I think it's just too late for that
Ethan Ralph and his orbiters this year proved to be a consistent enough source of white trash entertainment that it's worth documenting them individually for at least for the next few months, unlike most people involved in the Onision cinematic universe
sure, the doc will bring many new eyes to Onision, but what's there to say left that hasn't already been said about him or Shiloh or Repzion for us to make a whole subforum dedicated to them?
as much as i like following Onision as a lolcow, his content has gotten very repetitive and the best stuff we get out of him is when he cries on Youtube or Twitter for not getting enough attention, so dedicating to him something as big as a subforum would only damp the fun

The thread imo is good enough, not much new happens with Greg. It's just him having cyclic tantrums about other people causing all of his problems. The Discovery+ doc now just gives him more reason to cry. Several Onision-adjacents also have their own threads.

I will say that a bunch of the newer users are bringing up old shit thinking it's relevant or anyone cares. Might there possibly be a way to update the thread highlights, or should we perhaps point people to heatboss' post history?

IMO one of the main reasons why Ethan got a subforum is because his antics got more and more absurd and entertaining. Meanwhile, Onision as a whole has gotten more and more boring over time. The investigation has halted and he hasn't done anything worth noting in the last few months. At this point, the retards who derail the Onision thread are more entertaining than Onision himself.

I don't know where to put this, but Onision has apparently gotten a documentary... by Chris Hanson.

Onision in Real Life, or some shit. Is there a thread about this yet? I did a search but I'm kind of drunk and couldn't find anything about this specifically, and it looks relatively new. The funniest part to me is that YouTube advertised it while I was looking up music.
