Well... I heard Tom talk about this, actually. I can't remember which Squatch Watch episode it was, but Tom said that Mike may have sexually abused Andy, so he was sent to live at a center (I think he said Gateway). He said there wasn't ever a formal investigation into the abuse, either.

On Tom, I watched this today, and it's got the information I've been craving about Aunt Diane:

According to the video, Andy started acting this way after meeting Diane.

I think Diane may have taught Andy to call the cops over everything, and maybe she learned it from her mother. And, in both cases, I think Tom was the one with the cops being called on him.

Well given everything that I've learned about this situation, it seems only reasonable that Mike wants to leave all of this shit in his rearview and pretend as though none of the other Ditch retards exist. This is interesting. During the call between Dianne and Officer Bentley I recall that Dianne didn't believe that Andy's parents were disabled (which they clearly are). While the exact details aren't clear, it seems as though the maternal grandmother resented or disliked Andy's Dad and gave preferential treatment to Dianne (including abuse). The grandmother only acted right when grandpa was around and Dianne participated in this torment. That dislike continues to this day, which is why Dianne is all so ready to take Andy's side in every dispute regarding his parents.
