Brother Mike is the only Ditch to escape the hellhole of the Ditch household. Andy bitches every now and then that Mike had to leave because he sexually bused Andy but I don't believe that shit for a second. Andy is the most unreliable narrator ever and will say anything that gets him what he wants.
Mike wisely has zero to do with his family aside from sending Pappa Squatch some money from time to time and thus is the only "normal" person to come out of Mama Squatch's cooch.
Well... I heard Tom talk about this, actually. I can't remember which Squatch Watch episode it was, but Tom said that Mike may have sexually abused Andy, so he was sent to live at a center (I think he said Gateway). He said there wasn't ever a formal investigation into the abuse, either.
On Tom, I watched this today, and it's got the information I've been craving about Aunt Diane:
According to the video, Andy started acting this way after meeting Diane.
Tom: ..closed his business, and started listening to Aunt Diane. Yeah you can't deny it. She's a NUT.
Andy: When did I start my problems, then?
Janet: When you started listening to Aunt Diane.
Andy: Aunt Diane only started being involved for one reason mom: because she saw dad give me a hard time, of helping me buy my prescriptions when I didn't have the money-
Janet: No, no.
Andy: Aunt Diane was too afraid to be in this house to witness it, so I had called her every day when there was a problem, and anytime Andy didn't have a problem, it was talking to me about other things, not my struggles.
Tom: Bullshit.
Andy: Most of the time, Diane and me only talked about-
Janet: Dad.
Andy: - the weather and things that I like to do, Mom.
Janet: And Dad.
Andy: No
Janet: And what happened when they were younger.
Andy: No, very rarely did she tell me those things. And she wouldn't even go into details,
Tom: bullshit
Andy: -after she started finding out maybe- I'm- she's caused a little bit of my problems with me and my dad. Because she stopped giving me that information, even though I kept digging for him.
At this point, Janet speaks up about Andy and Diane:
Andy; Most of the time with Aunt Diane wasn't talking about Dad, at all. Most of the time she was distracting me, and that, unless there was a problem between me and my dad, that she was witnessing, that she wanted to know what happened up to that point.
Janet: I heard her, here!
Andy: Yeah, you heard her after the fact that she-
Janet: No, when she was sitting in that chair! I heard her.
Andy: What day? Were you eating? Was she- were you physically there?
Tom: Andy, I was skinny as a rail in junior high, you know why?
Janet: I was physically here!
So... Janet heard Diane telling Andy stuff about his dad.
It's not exactly clear what stuff, but it sounds like Tom was abused as a kid, and Diane was part of it.
Tom: Andy, I was skinny as a rail in junior high, you know why?
Tom: We've also watched her on youtube, when Andy had it on the police in here. The Same fucking thing, don't give me that shit. Not only that, there's a reason why I was after school, never came home, when I went to Benjamin Franklin.
Tom: Because I could not handle or ??? the family, that you were doin, that you were doin to me
Andy: Aunt Diane didn't get involved to be like you are.
Tom: Bull. Shit.
Janet: Andy- CAN I PLEASE SAY SOMETHING. You didn't have a mother, who kicked you out of the house, rather than having you do your homework, and tell you you weren't welcome back in the house, until your father came home. And it happened during the summer.
Tom: It happened all the time.
Tom: But the point is, is Andy... Andy When you started bringing Aunt Diane around, this Christmas, it starting bringing terrible memories back, and I knew this was going to happen, cuz she's nothing but trouble...
He mostly stays quiet after this, when Andy starts rattling on about not living in the past, and how he's the victim, and how awful Tom is.
I think Diane may have taught Andy to call the cops over everything, and maybe she learned it from her mother. And, in both cases, I think Tom was the one with the cops being called on him.
