It really needs to be pointed out, again, that Andy's behavior - all of it - is actually in line with his diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. The obsessive delusions that he is autistic and poopy and being persecuted for it, the aggression and manipulation, the disorganized, sexual and maladaptive behavioral extremes - it's all extremely well contained within his diagnosis.

He isn't going to get in Big Legal Trouble - his misuse of police and medical systems is part of his uncontrolled delusions. He either BELIVES he has all the things he says he has or he NEEDS other people to believe that he does. He attaches no (normal) moral value to what he does in regards to living or chasing that delusion. The constant grind of manipulation isn't just because he has a fetish or maliciously wants to make people unhappy, it's because he is mentally ill and laser focused on one idea - he needs help, he is being persecuted, and you have to help him. Royal, and places like it, are not equipped to handle what Andy is bringing to the table.

Mental health issues don't make people less complex. He likely has a great deal of nuance and many different reasons for everything he does. He does not function in his head the same way as you - that is what disordered thinking is, it isn't a cute term for being forgetful or quirky. The way you get from point a to point b in your head isn't how he does it. His reasoning isn't based in the same framework as your own. This is actually the single hardest thing to grasp when learning about and working with people with mental health conditions.

If I had to guess, Andy is not being overseen by anyone who has had the time to understand his mental issues and/or is qualified and WILLING to make the initial call to override his personal rights. Interfering with his right to make medical decisions on his own is a legal matter that requires a lot of people get involved and are in agreement, so he gets handled with kid gloves and tossed around like a hot potato to facilities that are grossly under qualified for handling him. It is a big deal, even if it seems like an obvious choice to you.

Many people involved in the mental health field only have basic understanding of the scope of the conditions they are dealing with - social workers, police officers and even mental health technicians may have learned everything they know about a condition from Tiktok. Schooling and qualifications for these positions in some states do not require advanced knowledge of general or specific mental health conditions. They may or may not understand that they are acting on behalf of his illness at all and may even believe what he's telling them - or not care either way. He is, after all, experiencing a delusion that would need supportive services regardless of their personal opinion - and they open themselves up to legal persecution by attempting to deny him services. They are not qualified or being asked to look beyond what they are presented with.

Understanding that 'i can't wipe myself' is the same as 'satellite men are burning holes in my teeth' can be an extremely difficult idea to hold on to. Andy's delusions force people to do things and affect others in ways that other delusions don't and that can make it seem malicious. Parts of it may even be malicious - he is capable of high level reasoning (and certainly something as basic as anger), it's the thought process and actions that are impacted, not the ability to do so.

As for the sexual extremism - fetishistic and socially and sexually deviant behavior is the norm when someone is as deep in their delusions as Andy. To be honest, he is obsessed with poop and it is pretty ho-hum that it features in his sexual desires. Andy is not just a guy forcing nurses to touch his poopy pee pee for sexual satisfaction. He is mentally ill and It is seen as a behavior to be managed, not an assault. It is a complex situation that is failing to be escalated appropriately because the system highlights compassion for the individual in focus over individuals in the periphery.

ASPD and Schizo effective disorder are one of the worst possible Combos possible combos someone can have. He certainly needs his internet access revoked for quite a while for his delusions to even begin to wind down.
