I was in the same boat, honestly. I think I just followed him because he was so insanely popular and I figured I'd find something I liked eventually in his art, because he had to be that popular for a REASON... but then I figured out how DA works and dropped him.

Man, I love to hate this guy.
As well as being a shitty artist he can't take critique (as every artist should be able to) he has his head so far up his ass it comes full circle and he's just plain lazy.
If you look at this earlier works from collage which are OK you can see he just doesn't fucking try.

And then there's people who's art is good and people who want critique to improve and they get none of that because they're not popular enough. Bleh

Yeah, my reaction to Dobson's art was something along the same lines. Most of the time I kept saying was "meh" and "that's fairly okay" and "sort of funny I guess, at least under certain circumstances".

Didn't really understand where the hate came from - it's hard to get really angry about his stuff. Easier to just to yawn really big and go somewhere else.

The only thing I did get a bit annoyed about was that Dobson is supposedly a professional artist and he's acting in anything but professional manner - especially when he straight up told amateur artists that you absolutely don't need to listen to criticism or try to get better. If you are a professional, you should realise people look up to you and you shouldn't be dispensing stupidity. But then again, this is an education issue.

He's a real dick. He won't take criticism and doesn't even like drawing what he draws - he's said that he doesn't like drawing So You're a Cartoonist, but he does it anyway to appease his fans... it's not even well drawn! He's a professional yet he draws like an amateur. And he can't take criticism, preferring to block critics, despite criticism being integral to an artist's success.
