@El Rodrigo Chiquita Banana Lady, why didn't I think of that. I was just thinking of her as some sort of southern belle like lady. That said, obviously it didn't make no sense for someone dressed like that to work at a video store. But to be frank, I think that was all just because of "comedy". Comedy that was obviously inspired by the work of Rumiko Takahashi, based on overall pacing of the "story", timing of the gags and so on.
Seriously, look up some of Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 chapters, especially those ment as one shot gag stories. There are similarities. And btw, the idea of video stores selling popcorn is not really out of the ordinary.
Bigger chains of video stores (or at least some I knew) tented to always offer also chips, soda or popcorn in bags in their store too, though I never had some store offer them in a combo with a movie. And I can at least understand why some stores did that, seeing how they could this way offer some people snacks for movie night.

As for the chains in the police robot pic, I find the handcuffs more interesting. Cause aside of the girl in the middle, none of them for the other girls seem to have any chains.

Nah.
It is just Dobson doing "wacky" japanese humor in a video store.
Rumiko Takahashi would do 15 pages comics of the same kind which were really kinda the same: Character A finds himself in some stupid shitty oversimplified situation where nothing goes right at all and the "humor" is from the fact everything goes wrong, even if he does nothing to justify it, cause you know, the universe is just saying "fuck this guy" at this particular day. And by the next chapter, the reset button was pressed harder than Dobson's triggers.

Sort of? Years and years ago my family rented movies from Blockbuster and they sold popcorn and soda plus other snacks. Not in the way Dobson is depicting but microwavable bags and 12 oz bottles, that type of thing. And yes it was overpriced as hell, you could buy a box of microwavable popcorn and a two liter of soda at the grocery store and still come out ahead. I guess the idea is to catch the lazy customer who plans on watching their rentals right away but realizes they don't have any snacks at home and don't want to swing by the store for a few minutes. For what it's worth I never saw anybody buy the stuff, or anything not related to movie rentals actually.

So, after reading Dobson's experience with the anime club and his falling out with the medium...

"WAAAAH! IT'S NOT ABOUT ME ANYMORE! IT'S NOT MY SPECIAL LITTLE SECRET! WAAAH! PEOPLE ARE DOING THINGS I DON'T LIKE TO SHOWS I APPROVE OF AND I DON'T LIKE THE NEW STUFF! WAAAH!"

I'm sure his clubmates would have some stories to tell about this guy in charge, who took anime way too seriously and told everybody else their tastes were shit. I can sympathize to a degree, since anime wasn't nearly as available back then and you took what you got, but Jesus Christ Dobson. Clubs are there for everyone, not just you.

What the fuck does Dobson even do anymore? He's not a student, he's living with his parents and all he does is spend his time making woe-is-me pity posts on twitter. We know he doesn't go out with friends or do much of anything, so he has no excuse to be short on time. I would love to have that much time for creative endeavors.

How does he have any Patreon backers at this point? He's not even pretending to try. All he does is endlessly go "Boy, I'd love to draw, but...you know...no motivation."

Somebody mentioned a while ago that he moved back in with his parents, and he does have a day job, which is, quote: "None of your business," and yes, put that bluntly because Dobson is a crude boar with no fucking tact.
