Many people are wrongly assuming that our decision is somehow about the AI project. If that were the case I would tell you openly and honestly, but it’s not. This is about making Gab Social a sustainable business by any means necessary.
Gab has no obligation to provide endless free media file storage and distribution to everyone on the internet. Gab Social costs six figures a month to keep online. This is simple math. We need to generate more money than we burn.
The AI project, unlike Gab Social, is already profitable—meaning it brings in more money than it is costing to operate. It is also growing faster than Gab Social. Many of you doubted my vision for AI, and mocked me for months, but you were completely wrong and I was correct. There is a massive market need for Gab AI and it grows bigger by the day.
Gab AI is a platform that is only a month old and is already profitable and growing by 100,000 users a week. In fact it is starting to subsidize the costs of Gab Social as well, but not enough yet which is why additional measures need to be taken if you want Gab Social to exist at all.
So if Gab Social needs to lose some traffic in order to become a sustainable platform that at a minimum pays for its operational costs to stay online—so be it.
