Andrew Torba / Gab (Gab.com / Gab.ai) / Dissenter (dissenter.com) - An incompetent captain sinking millions of other people's dollars.

The standard for content on Gab is somehow worse than Twitter. It's just insane far-right ranting for the most part.
Yeah it's a dumpster fire, but it's federated with other microblogging sites now, including one run by KF, and I'm about to open another one myself called "Science is Fake🌈", so it can at least be a gateway to other legitimate/fun platforms 🤷‍♂️

That sounds great. Will it be a Mastodon instance then, or some other kind of microblog?

Hahah this is great.

Gab released another broken update that broke the site and made it totally unusable (notifications weren't ordered by date... what a triumph of QA!).

Torba credits it to the changes making Gab EVEN MORE popular.

Torba is doing something different this time and has taken the site down for almost a week while they try to actually test their changes and fix them (or revert to a previous version, assuming they haven't broken that).

A week long break in service is horrible for a social media company.

Tfw when Gab was better off with the first Fediverse Update despite that being shitty itself.

Outgoing Federation to Pleroma sites is completely broken now.

Andrew blocked Alex Gleason, notable for being Gab contributor, creator of SoapBox and sysadmin of spinster.xyz, gleasonator.com (I think he helps Graham Linehan with glindr.org, too).

CrunkLard69, notable for being fat and gay (who you should not have sex with) announced victory over Gab. Having recently complained about how "The Whole Known Network" feed had been made unusable by boomers who are totally indistinguishable from bots. He also takes credit on red-pilling Alex on Pleroma according to anonymous sources. https://kiwifarms.cc/notice/9vOMSWZcg8axG21lpI

WHYAREYOUEVENHERE.JPG INTENSIFIES This nigger was literally the one gloating for the past year about how dope they were at ActivityPub (despite everything always being broken)

This is actually so unbelievably stupid I'm going to call my family, then kill myself just in time for them to arrive and revive me so I can kill myself out of embarrassment again

Yeah, I'm sure the average person or business will flock to a new service hosted by the same dude whose social media alternative is chock full of racists, bigots, and overall degenerates. I bet it'd also launch with a slew of bugs on release.

If there was ever a real threat to the status quo to Twitter or the like, they would be bought out by Silicon Valley immediately. Theres no way the corporations are going to let the internet be the wild west again. It's their new print media/TV newscast for the billions of normies looking at their phones.

They aren't allowed to monopolize it under the AGPL3, but actually Twitter is supposedly moving to a decentralized model, Jack explicitly mentioned the team looking into ActivityPub at one point. I don't have much faith in their ability to deliver on such a system but it could happen.

They never would. Twitter can't be allowed out of the grip of the content censors or its backers would have brain aneurysms.
