Andrew Torba / Gab (Gab.com / Gab.ai) / Dissenter (dissenter.com) - An incompetent captain sinking millions of other people's dollars.

Champion of free speech is back on Twitter

Gab (and pretty much every free microblogger except kiwifarms.cc, join it) went down yesterday from the mass Twitter exodus. Gab is still in a limited state and very slow but it's working.

The real story is when you tab over to their activity sorted timeline, where you get to see the most popular recent posts on the site. Right now, when you look at engagement metrics, you will see something like "10K Likes, 2K commensa, 1K reposts." That's literally 10 times the usual. I've also seen some influencers moving over, the ones more rightfully skeptical of Parler.

Funnily, this in spite of a recent embarrassment. Torba had said that he was in contact with Donald, implying that Gab would be his backup, rather than the competition. Of course, if you were paying attention, that was not what happened xD but a success is a success, I'll give it to them.

Gab CEO Andrew Torba Speaks Exclusively to Revolver News About His Plan to Save Free Speech and America
What would it mean for Gab, and you, your family, and your team who have been through so much, for President Trump to join your platform this week?

I come from a humble middle class family and town. Everyone in my extended family has sacrificed so much over the past four and a half years for Gab to get to this point. Every moment of sacrifice and struggle has been worth it to know that we have a place where The People can speak freely online away from these Silicon Valley tyrants, but I know that this is bigger than my family and I.

I believe the American People need to hear from President Trump. So many of us voted for him, supported him for these past four years, and still support him to this day. He says 75 million, but in truth, it’s probably many more – and he knows that. We’ve been building and preparing for this day for over four years now. If Silicon Valley can do this to the President of the United States – they can and will do it to anyone.

It’s important that The People see President Trump fight back against this Silicon Valley censorship and the entrenched bureaucrats in Washington who would love to see him de-platformed and silenced forever. There is a lot of anxiety and uncertainty in the country right now. The People are looking for leadership and guidance. President Trump has been the Champion of The People. He has given us a voice again and we are here to make sure that he has his.
Even if he doesn't woo Trump, he's probably captured a huge amount of the Q followers. Surely he could feast off them for a quite a while. Supposedly they had 900k new accounts created Sunday/Monday.

Right up until he loses all access to telecom and banking infrastructure like Jim Watkins did. I don't think Torba is smart enough or principled enough to weather the level of censorship and attacks headed his way now.

Glancing back at this thread hasn't he lost all banking access long ago, not just for the company but personally? But yeah, they're going to go to desperate extremes to screw him now.

I haven't been on Parler but I checked out GAB years ago before it became more normie, I doubt Ted Cruz approved Parler is as edgy as Gab was, however Parler glows in the dark.

Looks like one of Gab's biggest cheerleaders is going to Parler. (he won't admit it, but the end is near)

Guess what Aged like fucking SHIT
P.S: Can we get a thread for parler
The people who run that platform are EVEN MORE FUCKING RETARDED Than Torba,
imagine running a "free speech" platform with AWS and wanting a real phone number of people (and also they want your driving license if you wanted to get verified THEY USE A FREE verification system for that btw, SOMETHING THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER DO)

they all did not remove the metadata from photos and videos of the parler users, which can get someone doxxed after capital hill riots ,And the delete button is FAKE
Thanks parler

If you try and post on Rumble(Dan Bongino's youtube alt) it also asks for your phone number if you want to post videos.

Parler is going to sell user data probably, that's going to be their business plan. Doubt it's a glow in the dark operation or it would still be up.

Rumble literally came out of no where and suddenly became popular just like parler
And I think it'll have the same fate as parler,
The site it self look sooo amateurish and the mobile app version doesn't really looks like the website.
Never give your actual phone number to these alt tech platforms , its dangerous
Also if you want a good youtube alternative,
Use Bitchute
It has it own flaws but it's far better than most alt tech platforms
Idk about odysee.com all that much tho (its kinda a Successor to LBRY)
Also Minds.com is growing fast too

Any platform that touts how "free speech and fair we are" is always doomed to fail. ALWAYS.
Possibly because many of the people behind them are like Torba or the dude behind Parler. Dumber than a box of rocks.

Rumble's been around for a while apparently, but it got bought out by Bongino and his backers so now it's their video hosting site.

I like odysee, it's got better functionality, look and video quality than Btichute and is actually decentralized like Bitchute was meant to be. I still like Bitchute but they need to make improvements fast or they'll get left behind quickly.

There needs to be a continuation towards decentralization to defeat censorship both from companies and from governments. I want a decentraized reddit alternative but I haven't found any yet, maybe someone will make one on Hive.

Eventually decentralized censorship resistant platforms will be the standard but it will take some time for them to be able to compete with the giants. Things like Parler and Gab are dead ends but they will serve their purpose for a while.

Minds.com
Bitchute has already cucked on more than one occasion and Minds.com is a meme.

Fediverse seems like the way of the future if the mushbrained masses ever discover it. Problem is getting people unhooked from the big guys. Tons of people who bitch endlessly about the big social media sites but will make an alt the second they're banned from one.

Torba is an absolute retard and will fail as all retards do.
I was honestly surprised to learn (~3 days ago) that Gab was still around. I was an early adopter back when it first launched, kinda tuned out because I wanted to talk about things other than how the holocaust didn't happen (and they totally deserved it) and read about most of it's subsequent travails on this very site; I assumed they'd quietly shut their doors a while ago. The fact that they're still up and running despite everything is baffling to me.

It's too early to call this, but Torba may be on track to being the DSP of alt-tech: objectively terrible at everything he does, yet winding up as the last man standing through sheer pigheadedness. Stranger things have happened.

This is a solid prediction. Torba has structured gab to appeal to boomers, retards, and boomer retards. His ideal audience is one that is tech illiterate (so they won't call him out on his obvious bullshit when asked to explain the site's lack of functionality), gullible, and willing to part with their disposable income. He is no doubt experiencing a massive influx of such people given the Purge now ongoing. Already he was able to survive prior to this thanks to the fiscal generosity of a few boomer whales that he rewarded with semi-admin privileges and blue checkmarks. Now he's potentially set for life . . . until they yank his domain name. At which point he'll no doubt find another grift.

Truly, a magnificent pigroach specimen.

I would have said the same thing about Jim Watkins, but he got the kibosh put on him because of the same crowd Torba wants to cater to.

Yes that is the big problem with sites like gab. All's anyone wants to do is boomer post about politics instead of about everyday things that would draw normal people to the site. It just becomes an echo chamber of insanity.

Besides, I think it was Tim Pool that made this point just a while ago, but he mentioned that Twitter was much more of a natural monopoly than something like Youtube, and he's right. The lure of twitter is that people can pretend they are interacting with influencers instead of their social media secretaries. Alternate websites can't offer that.
