Is it like an ego thing that makes him do this? He wants to like build everything from a social media site to a browser (shitty fork of Brave that's outdated) to a YouTube alternative. The perfect is the enemy of the good - just host a fediverse node, use LBRY and set up a crypto wallet like a normal internet sperg.

It's definitely an ego thing. It's not enough for him to be an autistic faggot who uses crypto, shitposts on Fedi, and goes about his life like any other person. He specifically has to be at the forefront of any stupid endeavour that he wants to quarter-ass. Gab should really take its time, there's no rush to getting back online. Even if they're offline for a week, it's worth it in the long run if they can finally patch up their security.

In the Ars Technica article Fosco literally warned against the exact type of exploits that are plaguing Gab right now. He's obviously not a dumb guy.

According to an ex employee on the Fediverse their main problem is that they simply do not review their code. It's push first, ask questions never, no one ever knows what anyone else is doing, and fuck you if you ask.

You get a lot more engagement on Gab and there are plenty of normal people. They have a more complete feature set too; groups, edits, quote posts, etc. You also get hot Facebook moms, I've gotten titties off Gab.

I use the Fediverse too. Most of us do, I've been shilling it in this very thread probably for 2 years at this point, while you were actually ignoring it until very recently. But it's not the same experience, you can get things on Gab that you cannot on the Fedi.

Holy fucking shit. I want to ask how someone is this fucking retarded but I already know the answer to this question. I'd like to give rundown of what I know of that makes Torba so fucking exceptional.

The first thing I can think of is when he was positioning himself as the platform of free speech & even charging that weird gab fag subscription thing. This is definitely in the realm of false advertisement as gab is anything but free speech. Viva la kiwifarms for that. Secondly There was his entire jesus boner he has for railing against hentai lolicon or whatever. Now what makes this really dumb to me is he seems to use twitter more than his own platform, which has actual child porn being traded around, sold, etc. Nevermind the pedophiles, the zoophiles, map community(if you can even really call it that), lgbt, & every which way of degeneracy from the 25th hour on a Sunday night you can think of. He had the absolute perfect ammo he could have used to rail the shit out of twitter constantly but he instead chose to bitch about fucking cartoons. He should have railed on twitter for having actual child porn but he didn't.

The second thing that I can think of was of him having language seizures over decentralization. Not sure if someone suggested it to him or not but at some point he was saying only criminals want decentralization. Well surprise surprised not much later he was making a rallying cry for decentralized payment systems (it's called XMR/Monero frog fucker). Then there's the fact he turned gab into another mastodon instance or so I've heard. Supposedly it wasn't a mastodon instance originally or something.

The most recent outside of the hack was him & politics with the election which is eh at this point. Then you get this shit where his own site gets hacked & instead of trying to salvage this situation he decides to go off about tranny demon hackers or some retarded shit. Trannies ain't hacking shit except their own dicks.

I have to give Torba some credit at least albeit as minimal as it is. Dissenter is a great idea. Not the retarded browser but the extension that lets you comment on any website on the net. If someone can do something like that in the scope of say 4chan where you don't need an account or anything to make a comment it would be perfect.

This gets taken out of context all the time though. What he actually said was that building a social media site on a blockchain backend would benefit no one except criminals, which is correct. It's a very inefficient idea and you could never delete child porn from your site.

They weren't locked into an open source license back then. Closing your code allows you get away with a lot more, which is why companies do it.

Notice all these breaches are happening on their Mastodon instance, the only thing they leave open, because they're forced to by the AGPL. I bet if everything was FOSS they'd be in even deeper shit right now.
