Even if the intent of Blood Meridian wasn't to titulate, people can and probably have argued it was due to being offended by the content or just having piss-poor media literacy. That exact thing has happened to Lolita. That's where a bulk of the issue lies since not everyone agrees on where obscenity ends and artistic merit begins.

I don't think the Turner Diaries has artistic merit, but it's still been ruled legal speech in the US. Something being legal doesn't make is not disgusting or created for horrific people.

I'm assuming this is because it was trying to be realistic, thus there's an element of historical accuracy reflected and artistic merit involved. It isn't pornographic, I presume.

Well, this is the point - "Caligula" was purportedly realistic. It was also pornographic, and how.
I can't answer the question, is my point. It depends on who you ask. "BM" is extremely polarizing and heavily debated.

Not really. Even when she does reply, she often cherry picks parts of the post to reply to, completely ignoring the parts which corner her. Happens a lot, and is the sign of indefensible positions.

That doesn't mean there aren't people who don't think it is. There are people who've insisted the DragonBall manga is pornographic because kid Goku runs around naked. What is an isn't porn is notoriously hard to define legally.

Well, earlier you said of the blood book, "it's not described in detail", so it can't be pornographic since pornography is defined by being detailed, which is why an off screen sex scene in a PG-13 film isn't deemed pornographic, lack of detail.

I'm just saying debates don't have clear winners unless you're on a HS debate team and there's a panel of judges. Also nowhere is there a rule that anyone involved in a debate has to concede points
