I feel like this thread is anticipating a shitstorm that may not happen.

The only thing I know about this guy is that he acted like an ass at one of those stupid video game awards shows a few years ago.

In hindsight, I feel like Joe's problems have been sort of... I don't know, not in focus compared to certain other TGWTG personalities. Sure you have people who still rag on him for monetizing his JewWario tribute video, but you don't typically see as much in depth discussion about him. The fact that the Farms didn't have a thread on him until now speaks volumes, I think, especially since Lindsey, Linkara, and Spoony do.

But there has still be a noticeable decline in quality over the years, and I think it's about time we start speculating why.

As a casual viewer and fan, I feel like Joe peaked with the Destiny review. It was funny, informative, and actually called out a shitty, overhyped piece of shit for what it was. During E3, he tried defending Destiny 2. That speaks volumes about the shift in attitude he has had in the past few years, I feel.

There have been lots of Angry Joe related controversies in the past few years. I noticed he didn't make a 'Top Ten gaming controversies' video AGAIN this year, with no real explanation.

And does he ever change out of that Superman shirt?
Joe is a Superman fanboy and collector.

I stopped watching him around the time of the Rambo railshooter review. He seemed to be having a difficult time with his videos getting flagged and taken down. (Idk if that was around the time either Nintendo or Sega Japan was mass DMCA-ing)

After that, he did some movie reviews and things, but I guess he got burnt out or felt unappreciated. He did work really hard getting costumes and putting together material, so...

He got shit on by enough Septic Community YouTubers to fill an entire thread with.

I stopped watching him the more and more he and his crew tried to ape Redlettermedia in matters of movie reviews. I could have lived with Other Joe, but Delrith is a disgusting creature. Worse, the movie reviews or one hour reviews of a Game of Thrones episode are not what made me tune into AJ.

But I can see why he wants to push his movie review agenda: it has a potential to reach a bigger audience AND it takes less effort to make a video, unlike his video game reviews. You have these guys sitting together and talk about a movie they just saw. Compare it to RLM and you see the difference: those guys edit their videos nonetheless, they have more experience in movie-making and they have half a dozen more or less successful series (Half in the Bag, Plinketto Reviews, Wheel of the Worst, Plinketto, Nerd Talk, Best of the Worst. Angry Joes instead has himself, a pedo furry, an exceptional being named Other Joe and another faceless dude sitting in a row babbling about a movie they just saw, with all the fanboy love/hate.

I mean, if he wants to branch out, good for him. But he better stops acting like DSP (who for a brief time thought he could set foot in those movie reviewing genre too but scratched it because he was too lazy) if he wants to save what's left from his former glory. People wanted to see the video game reviews, he has established that series with costumes, running gags (Corporate Commander) and while you could disagree with his opinion, at least you saw he has put some effort into these videos. He lost my subscription long ago when he preferred being a safe spaced dick.

Smug Mexican does the typical YouTuber self destructive "the fame went to my head and now I've convinced myself I'm too good for the content that made me famous, so I'm just gonna hate my fans when they disagree with me making something different out of sheer pretentiousness."

The end of the bell curve for a YouTuber has striking similarities to a tranny.

Guru Larry called it the Youtube Ego for a reason:

Last time I saw any kind of 'drama' feat. Angry Joe, it was in comment section of the RedLetterMedia "star wars podcast" which was making fun of people like him. His response beingalong the lines of "LoL! I love this!" and there was huge comment chain where people were calling him out and then he resorted to do some damage control, later on he deleted his original comment, however. But I never knew he's going this far off to the deep end.

Only thing i know about somewhat tepid javier is he gave guild wars 2 a 10/10 while shitting on mists of pandaria and whining over Nintendo taking money from him playing Mario party.

I remember it was at this time that I stopped enjoying him. You'd think the guy was crying in the video he did when he was denied monetization. I could be wrong, but like DSP, the console was a gift from a fan (maybe a friend) and to make his rant about Nintendo more scathing he said it's his money and khan-tent, that he is promoting their game, he should profit too. He implied that he paid for that Nintendo. If I recalled that right, it felt very dishonest and honestly because he was a cry baby about it I just refused to watch his videos. Some of my friends linked me his reviews, and I'd say "Well, he's a joke at this point after the Nintendo Rant." I am happy to know he gave us more ammo to laugh at him over.

Joe could have worded his YouTube comments a little better, but I don't see how he's in the wrong. He's in charge of his channel and its content and if he wants to make reviews of other things besides video games that no one's decision but his to make. If his fans are too autistic to understand and appreciate this then they're the ones who should have a thread here. Joe seems like someone burned out on what initially got him on the map and he wants to branch out into other things (ala Doug Walker).

Then again I know literally nothing about this guy so I'm just going by what's in the thread. He could be a huge piece of shit all the time for all I know.

I agree with you on the first part, he's not in the wrong for wanting to make new content. Where he crosses into cow territory is getting upset about fan reactions. I don't know if this trend continued because I have long since stopped watching Joe, but when he first started doing vlog style content, the videos were usually at best a 50/50 split in terms of likes and dislikes. Joe was not happy about this, and he passive aggressively blamed the fans for not liking those videos. His problem isn't that fans aren't letting him produce the vlog style videos, it's that the fans are rightly pointing out those videos suck and he's not making a living off of them.

So overall, you're right about it being his decision to make, but the fans also get to decide if they watch it or not. The other issue is that there were a lot of fans that were supportive of Joe doing other videos, but rightly pointing out that the content just sucked. He's not failing with movie/tv/trailer/whatever the fuck else reviews because his fans only want to see video game reviews, he's failing because he puts no efforts into those other reviews and it clearly shows. Now, if this was just a hobby it wouldn't be a big deal, but this is his livelihood, so he needs those views.

Basically, Joe is like a scaled back, passive aggressive version of DSP. He doesn't outright hit the point of openly ebegging, but he subtly implies that his fans should equally support all his content. He also makes generalized excuses about not doing more video game reviews, namely being depressed, but then he goes and makes a bunch of vlog style videos and streams on twitch.

Glad somebody took my suggestion seriously and created an AJ thread within 15 minutes of it.
I've followed Joe for several years, and what is clear as day to me is that he figured out, or rather it was explained to him very slowly, that he could still make a very good living and not have to work as hard by morphing his channel into uploads of his Twitch streams, movie reviews, and trailer reactions instead of Angry Reviews. He once estimated that it took 60 hours to write, get costumes, film, and edit the reviews...not including the time to play through the game.
The thing that has always gotten to me about this dude is the DSP-esque entitled mentality he has. It doesn't matter if a multitude of his fans complain about the direction of the channel. In Joe's mind, they're all replaceable little peons meant to support his every move or fuck off.
Not a brilliant strategy to have when one's livelihood depends on the generosity of those frequently alienated by childish and abrasive behavior towards them.

Remember when his fans bought him a Wii U and then he bitched about it and blamed it on Nintendo?

Remember when he got BTFO by Geoff Keighley for trying to confront him with a poorly executed accusation under the guise of an "interview" and was treated like the petulant rude (man)child he is?

What about the time he tried to monetize a video where he pretended to care that a "friend" of his killed himself? Or when he ignored the Charity walk for his dead friend?

What a stand up guy.

Just like Phil did with the guy who died from the Fighting Forum he went to and barely knew who also put ads on his video... it's like poetry in motion.
