Nah, Joe was a fuck-up from day one. What got him big is that he jumped on the angry reviewer bandwagon early and got picked up by CA.
His only saving grace was being pro-consumer and straight to the point in his early days. Now he's all about that dosh and bloated skits.
If you want to see his "professionalism" without any external disturbances, see the video linked few times in this thread of him being burned twice by Geoff Keighley during Video Game Awards in 2010.

It seems like people with large gaming YT channels tend to fall into the category of being a shouting nitwit or a pretentious douchebag (British accent helps). Everyone takes themselves way too seriously for the media they're covering and most are trying desperately to appeal to younger demographics to stay afloat as they age out of the medium because arthritis makes it hard to play vidya like the kids do.
Maybe it's just a tendency of YouTubers to go up their own assholes as if subscribers means they're famous.
