Animal Crossing diaries?

I was looking through some of my favorite Christorical videos, and one of them was the hour-long Animal Crossing Documentary. There was one segment of it that always made me think, but I've never really hard anyone talk about it: The diary feature. The first AC game was released when the internet wasn't ubiquitous when it came to gaming tips, so in addition to being a general-purpose "i had a good day lol" tool, the AC journal was used to record interesting facts/patterns about the game, and all that jazz.

Chris, on the other hand, consistently kept a diary across two different characters, and in this AC documentary, he gave us a glimpse at one of his entries: The entire Story Of My Current Days poem. To put things in perspective, in Animal Crossing (Especially the GameCube version) it takes a fucking decade to type out sentences using the onscreen keyboard. Given the length of SOMCD, Chris must've spent at least half an hour clickety-clacking away on his controller, typing up the full thing.

On top of that, if you look closely, it shows that he has tons of other diary entries across both his male and female characters. If he spent that long making a single poem, what the hell's in the other "pages", and how long did it take him to do THEM?

...But even for an autistic, that seems like an EXTREMELY daunting task. Even on the 3DS (where you can use a touchscreen keyboard) messages take forever. He had to have been in front of the TV for hours, just writing diaries. Maybe he took the "the game is playing whether you're there or not!" slogan literally, and assumed that his town would be happier as long as he was there?

Chris completely immerses himself in his fantasy worlds, and has nothing else that's a drain on his time. Plus he believes that everything he has to say is critically important.

The amount of effort Chris has put into making his fantasy world feel real to himself cannot be calculated with mere human mathematics.

Animal Crossing is a really repetitive game that I remember eventually getting very bored of. Naturally, Chris would love it.

Never underestimate Chris' ability to dedicate a ridiculous amount of time and money to completely pointless endeavours.

Yeah, I mean, where would he find time in his busy schedule to do something boring and pointless in a video game?

He lives in fantasies and has all the time in the world.

When I was little and the GameCube Animal Crossing had first come out I did the same thing, roleplay and write diary entries as my characters. It was fun and nice to have a record of everything I'd written. It did take a long time, but who cares? Was I gonna use that time for anything else?
I actually miss that feature, though I don't think I'd be able to make as much use of it these days. Even writing some short dumb letters for Animal Crossing animals bores me to bits.
