First off I want to apologize if this is a shitty OP but this is my first attempt at an OP here and surface knowledge on this community seems pretty scarce. I'd probably have to snoop mostly on DeviantART and Tumblr, two websites I make an effort to avoid, to find the really good shit.

"Animation memes" are a genre of animation videos that, at the base, typically involve rather crude-looking animation loops set to or synced with background music clips. That alone wouldn't be threadworthy, but it's worth noting that approximately 101% of these animations are utterly terrible, and almost universally involve unbearable electropop music, edgy original characters, and juvenile attempts at "horror" and shock value. The "meme" part of the name comes from the animations and music being recycled from user to user with each one making a version of it with their own graphics over that same animation/music base. Unsurprisingly, the community creating animation memes overlaps intensely with the furry and Tumblr communities.

With over 100k subscribers on YouTube, Sleepykinq seems to be the most prominent "animator" in this community, and he is also the most polarizing, drawing ire from other members of the community due to alleged "glorification" of rape, torture, and murder.

Below are some examples of this garbage from Sleepykinq and other users:

Like these are cringy and I understand how these kids are but if you want to see real cringe are these same edgy animators criticizing younger kids learning to animate.

Yeah, I'd mostly be willing to laugh about this if it was some animator that'd been around for like 30 years just making these shit animations. But this in most cases seems to be learning animators just fucking around and doing simple stuff, which really isn't a bad thing. I'm just willing to give this the benefit of the doubt and say it's just kids memeing and trying to have a good time while learning.

while i do agree that these memes are kinda shit-tier i don't know if it's thread worthy.
if you had more people that qualified (other than sleepykinq arguably) it'd be better off.
I agree. I was extremely apprehensive about making this thread in the first place since I somewhat doubted that a) I could make a decent, well-researched OP, and b) there'd be really enough content to sift through after the thread's creation.

I don't see any of these kids ever getting professional - level work in this craft, anyway. I think we can rest easy knowing this shite is all they'll ever have to fall back on until they go to school and are forced to realize how much they truly suck ass.

Almost similar in a way to all the people BenTheLooney looks up to (who suck just as bad, if not worse than he does!) - only some of these guys almost have some sense of drawing skills that they are wasting, which is even sadder, honestly.

Honestly I think these memes are too repetitive to be their own thread, maybe just given highlights for extremely awful ones in a DeviantArt thread but other than that there isn't much here in my opinion on its own. Most of these are by teen girls who just started animating and yeah it's cringy but that only gets you so far in entertainment value.

Also of note though, the Hamilton fans who make these memes also overlap with warrior cats fans for some reason.

I dunno if it counts, but a certain musical called "Heathers" has a lot of half-baked "animatics" kinda like this, although the specific person I think of barely made more than one panel for each animatic. And as a side note, it seems that some of these are suprisingly popular/infamous on 4chan's /co/.

I'm disappointed, I thought this was going to be about So You Are a Cartoonist :(

It's lazy that all these animations basically contain the same content only with different characters.
A way to practice your animation and drawing skills? Of course.
A way to become famous and earn applause by everyone? Nah.
