Like it or not, English VA's are part of anime, even if they ARE faggots. Cope and sneed.

I don't really listen to anime dubs anymore but chimping out over another another nigga watching them only makes sub only niggas sound like complete autists.

THAT BEING SAID, P&S's sub IS way better and more consistent as they dropped the VAs for Panty and Stocking for S2. Also hearing Japanese people scream BITCH and FUCKER is always funny.

Soo, anyone watched Night of the Living Cat? It's very dumb, a parody of the zombie apocalypse genre with cats, but it's rather funny. Anyone read the manga? It began around 2020 and it's still ongoing, but it doesn't look like a work it could be stretched forever.

A rational answer. You can like sub or dub. Being hyper aggressive over EITHER side of this debate is CRINGE. And that is a fate worse than death.

you are literally incapable of enjoying any media without homosexuals in it so you go out of your way to replace the original actors with homosexuals at every opportunity

Nigga who pissed in your cereal? The subs and dubs exist equally. If I have a blu ray of an anime, I can choose either track, nip or English, and i paid the same for both included on the disc. I don't swear loyalty to either one. Why you so mad bro?

Episode 5 down. Man, no wonder Gainax became a sacred cow when they went and pulled stunts like "Have the guy who got attacked by the internet so hard we had to let go of a studio founder and retool all of Gurren Lagann in response direct an entire half-episode in the most off-putting artstyle we could think of". Explains why people are so eager to handwave Kill La Kill's flaws and blame everyone but Gainax for Darling In The Franxx.

Gainax and Trigger were always the best anime studio.

Subs vs. dubs argument is literally retarded because you're pretty much telling your kid-self who grew up watching anime on TV you were a fucking retard for hearing dub actors speak your language. It's okay to recognize in hindsight when a piece's quality was bad, it's not okay to rewrite your own personal history with your anime origins.

Just look at my username ffs. The Digimon dub isn't the greatest dub ever (it's kinda a product of its time), but it's far from being the worst dub either, and yet Digimon purists are insufferable about the "subs vs. dub" debacle. For whatever reason beyond my understanding, Digimon fans have made it their life's purpose to completely shit on their childhoods while proclaiming in the same breath they miss it, and it's so exhausting to be around. Even though I know the differences between the two and can switch versions based on discussion, I will continue to enjoy my crummy '90s dub because hilariously enough, Saban was kinda ahead of its time in portraying an anime as being Japanese (eventually, it took a couple of arcs) when everyone else was Americanizing (...Canadianizing?) everything, and the VAs they had hired for the cast were actually talented, raw people and I absolutely miss that in dubs because I no longer can tell new English voices apart these days, and it's infuriating.

And yes, you can tell the difference between voice quality from 25 years ago to today even with Digimon since new stuff still comes out and get dubbed. It's astounding how different and sanitized everything sounds like today compared to 25 years ago, it literally hurts me to watch a Digimon dub made today because whoever is the ADR director is fucking terrible at their jobs while the seasoned VAs kinda flex their pipes around them, and the new blood just don't see themselves as character actors, likely because they're no longer allowed to be character actors due to #OwnVoices shit, or they're trying too hard to sound as close to the Japanese voice as possible, and fucking failing at it.

Kind of a side-tangent and I brought it up in the Digimon thread, but if you can, please go do a compare-contrast with Armadillomon's voice in Japanese (Megumi Urawa), the original Saban dub (Robert Axelrod, RIP), and the dub for the newest 02 movie (Robbie Daymond), and then we can have a proper conversation on silly listenable dubs of old vs. shitty modern dubs of PAIN that literally murders and rapes your childhood.

I feel this.

One dub or set of dubs I like is Fate. You know why? Most of the dub actors have been with the franchise since the Deen days in 06. They wear their characters like a fucking glove and it really feels like they give a shit, because, well, they've been doing it close to 20 years.

I also think the dub quality decline is strictly and purely an American thing. Get a group of English Stage Play voice actors and you still have an extremely quality product.

I've recently started watching Emma (thanks to the person in the thread who recommended it to me) with the crowdsourced English Dub taken from real stage actors and it's insane just how high the quality is. It's almost as good as the Japanese dub with the added benefit that it fits the location of the story. My only gripe is that the microphone quality isn't the best and sometimes some actors peak their microphones. Not the end of the world and It's only ever happened once so far.

Metaphor ReFantazio has a very solid English dubbing cast and the worst role ironically enough is the one person who doesn't speak in an accent.
