The fact is the super heroes are a plague in american comics, if you arent doing this, even if it is good, it will be niche as fuck, and that isn't even talking about the price of it.

The europeans aren't tied to this so there is way more diverse kind of stories but they have the problem of not being serialized so it can be years before you finish a series with 400 pages total.

The fact that there are better Western american stories made by frenchs and italians crack me up every time.

The thing about the comic vs manga discussions that never really gets brought up is how despite the multitude of genres available for the latter the top sellers are always shounen slop so in a way they're two sides of the same coin.
Yeah there's a lot of copium that manga is saving the media landscape but it's always series that don't really shake the boat too much.

the worst shounenslop is almost always better than the best comiclsop though
that's the worst part

I think the big difference is that even the schlockiest of shounen tries to entertain its audience, whereas the average "indie" comic in America today is very poorly made propaganda where a single issue costs triple what an entire copy of Shounen Jump would cost. The money for what you are getting is ass, it looks terrible, and usually the message is some variety of "family bad, White men bad, America bad, capitalism bad" progressive propaganda schlock. If I am going to be propagandized, then at least make it a GATE style pandering fest (yes I know it was originally a novel) that has a good amount of entertainment value to compensate for the heavy handed propaganda it's delivering. Manga isn't saving drawn entertainment, but it is sure as hell better than what America is shitting out, and I think that's what people really mean when they gush over it.

What I really wish we had translated to English more was French comics, aka Franga. There's some awesome series from the frogs out there, but the scanlation scene is borderline nonexistent.

At least the options are there. Like what western comics even are there aside from superhero stuff? With manga you can have romance, sports, slice-of-life, even manga based on hyperfixated things like mineralogy.

But do they have a disproportionate and incessant amount of >NIGGERS< in them? Don't worry, I'm sure Netfux will get a manga division sooner or later. Speaking of...
shit it up netfux.jpg
Poor Vivi....... poor, poor Vivi. I don't know which kosher producer hated you more than the rest of the muttish misfits... but dear God I'm sorry... It's gonna take China reverse nanking'ing japan in a few decades to un-nigger it from what the judeccan monopolies have in store. The plan is just nigger america 2.0, unabashedly.

TorrentFreak: Operator of Bato.to Criminally Investigated in China Following CODA Piracy Complaint (archive) (ghost) (mega)
Anti-piracy group CODA, which represents the five major manga publishers, has been the driving force behind the takedown of the iconic manga pirate site Bato.to. The group's actions led to a raid in China last November, where the alleged operator of Bato.to, MangaPark and dozens of other sites, will be criminally prosecuted. According to CODA, the suspect operated the world’s largest manga piracy ring.
Speaking with TorrentFreak, CODA notes that it was not in any way involved in the earlier reported enforcement actions by Kakao Entertainment, which focused on remaining communities on Reddit and Discord. Similarly, Kakao was not involved in the high-profile criminal referral in China.
NTT Solmare, which operates the legal ebook store Mangaplaza in the U.S., reported that its daily sales numbers doubled following Bato.to’s shutdown.

Wooo, Kenichi returns. I assume flop of "Sora e" and success of "Gash bell 2" from fellow Champion( oops, Sunday, I think I have trouble to differentiate weeklies other than Jump) author might affected him. I hope sequel will be as horny as original.

Compared to Raiku—who got burned by Shogakukan once, left, and chose to publish Gash Bell 2 independently—Syun looks like way more of a cuck for still letting Sunday publish his work, especially after they abruptly canceled Kenichi the first time and then axed his new series right after it started.

Teaser with animation for the new Ghost in the Shell series that's designs are suppose to be the closest any adaption has gotten to the manga
July 2026 ? If I recall correctly, it was planned for 2027 initially. I really hope Science Saru don't fail this, but it's one of my favorite anime studios lately.

Between GITS and Jaadugar, they are working on the only two anime I really want to watch this year.

Oh, wow. I didn't know they were making an anime out of this. The manga itself is a must-read, so I have very high hopes for the anime itself.

Elaborate on the source material being bad, I agree on science saru, but it's better than Production I.G, they pissed on the IP for nearly two decades, TRIGGER would've been perfect.

Basically, the manga is a very goofy side, with Kusanagi acting less like a cold and calculated operative and more like a brat, lots of goofy anime faces an etc, plus a shitload of hardcore lesbian sex (all because the artist didn't wanna draw a guys ass)
