It's one the funniest parts, she constantly groans about how bad she has it in society and how much the odds are against her when the media have kissed her arse from day 1 and hammered any attempts to critique her work.

Not to mention the tons of cash and throng of fanatics behind her. She really does have it hard being a woman doesnt she?

Knee bent

This year, we had a contingent of attendees (some who paid, some who snuck in with fake passes) who had been either perpetrators of this harassment, or had, for years, watched as the outrage they cultivated resulted in followers doxxing, harassing, intimidating, and even threatening the lives of the creators on these panels.

It is difficult to imagine that this group of people (who are aware that their channels have been base-camps for years of harassment of some of our panelists) did not realize that their arriving early to fill up the three front rows of a panel was going to be intimidating. In any case, it looked like intentional intimidation to most people in attendance, and the panelists were understandably on edge throughout the discussion.

Our founder, Hank Green, talked with our panelist and said two things:

  1. He told her that her comment had violated our policy, but that he understood that there was a broader context (which to be clear, we were blissfully ignorant of until this weekend, and remain inexpert in.)
  2. He apologized to her for not having been more aware of and active in understanding the situation before the event, which resulted in her being subjected to a hostile environment that she had not signed up for.

Honestly just replace Anita" and "her" with Sargon or GamerGate and he/they pronouns and the statement made by Dobbo is still accurate. (Ignoring the implications of his hypocrisy)

Between shit lord, garbage human, and deplorable, it's amusing how ineffective lefty insults are. I guess that's what happens when you try to insult someone, but are also deathly afraid of offending anyone.

I'm biased since I'm a fan of Sargon and a lot of the other YouTubers who attended the panel, so I have to take their side. All Anita had to do was ignore them and nothing would have happened. If you're putting on a play and there are hecklers and/or people you don't like in the audience, you don't bring the show to a halt just to rant at them, you carry on with grace and dignity to show you're the bigger person.

This whole event was also interesting to me because it showed how totally naked Anita is when her appearance isn't 100% planned through ahead of time. She was in a situation where she could interact with viewers and vice versa and completely blew it by coming off as an unstable, spiteful bitch.

John's a little more willing to discuss alternate viewpoints in his videos than Hank is, but because John has another job besides Youtube (he's a published YA novelist), Hank does more of the day-to-day work maintaining their little network and has invited more than a few mindless SJWs to collaborate with them. I recall the Geography show on Crash Course (their "educational" channel) was such an awful, uninformed SJW screed against the Guns, Germs & Steel book that it actually had to be taken down and Hank formally apologized for the lack of quality.

But yeah, they're far too entrenched in the regressive left cultural zeitgeist to apply their ToC equally and reprimand Anita.

I seriously doubt he ever even expected equal treatment. The whole incident was just fodder for him to embarrass a bunch of Anita stans through their sheer hypocrisy. He was good at managing the social media fallout and got 4 hours' exposure on Joe Rogan's podcast over it (though he spent way too much time circling everything back to more Anita sperging throughout the show).

So Hank's statement that he didn't know anything about the dispute between Anita and Sargon was . . . er . . . less than truthful and honest.

I kind of suspected that from the weird way the whole thing was written, but it's nice to have confirmation of my suspicion.
