As long as we're on the topic of Anna - does anyone know if she's spoken/written a single word to Chris since the fire? I bet she's laying low and hoping that Chris won't try to show up on her doorstep.

She made one comment in one of his post-fire posts that had nothing to do with anything and then got called out for being a shit person.

Damn, when did that happen. I wonder what she said.

Always confused me how she was cheering him on in every aspect, yet never helped Chris get help of any kind. This became even more obvious after the fire, when she never gave any words of comfort or any material goods (at least Weenieman gave him something). :C
Well no, Anna did comfort Chris in some way after the fire, just not publicly. Her asspatting has always confused the shit out of me, because I can't imagine anyone being that fucking stupid to think that would help Chris. But I couldn't find any other explanation. Ultimately, I just came to the conclusion that she actually is that stupid.

She might be feeling guilty about her previous behaviour and that's the best she can do to silence her conscience. Just a guess though.

It's possible, but I don't think so. I don't think her previous behavior was extensive enough to motivate asspatting for this long.

But a reasonable person would also never resort to asspatting him for so long in the first place. ;)

I've always held a conspiracy theory belief that Anna is really a secret mole, and one of the ones publicly leaking stuff on Chris. Her idea to write a book on him, insulting him, talking shit about him, being a terrible friend - all reasons she's a mole. That also would be why she attacks all other trolls, because they get in the way of what she's doing or take the limelight away from her.

But I really know that's nothing more than bullfarts. I just like the idea of a conspiracy.

She is cute in all those skateboarding videos, though.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. When we see her saying something ridiculous or enabling it is fine to call her out on it.

But it is hard to criticize her for "not supporting him enough" because we don't see all the conversations she has with him.

Also, why the fuck should she get on a plane and go help him. Firstly, is there any concrete things she could do? Secondly, is there any reason to believe her "help" would be met with anything but hostility from Barb and ingratitude/whining from Chris?

Well, she's the one pretending to be his friend. Hostility and ingratitude comes with that territory. If she can't take the proverbial heat, she should get out of the proverbial kitchen.

As it relates to Chris, whatever. She enables him to be stupid and is generally annoying. This types seem to get on his Facebook somehow.

I've ranted before about her whole "Don't insult gay marriage but I can call a troll a fag" hypocrisy. I think it's bullshit and makes her much more unlikable than anything else relating to Chris.

Firstly, their house burned down, of course there's things she could do. Least of which is spend some time with the man-baby to take his mind off things. Secondly, I don't know about Barb but seeing as Chris perpetually wants to fuck her I doubt we'd see any ingratitude. Maybe some whining.

Your point that if a normal person's house burnt down, their best friend might go to help, is valid. BUT

1. Chris is not normal.
2. Anna is not normal. I don't remember all of the details, but I believe it has been documented here that she has her own set of issues.
3. Anna is Chris' best friend by default, because he doesn't have many.
4. Chris and Barb have very little money and may not have been able to offer her a place to stay. My impression of Anna is that she is not rolling in ducats either. A trip might not have been affordable.

I am also not sure exactly what she could do. In terms of practical help, Chris and Barb seem to actually not be mangling this too badly. She might end up being like the friend who comes to help you move when you have already hired movers. In terms of emotional support, Marvin seems to say she has talked to him remotely. That might not be quite as good as in-person contact, but if she really has been talking him through things on the phone, I don't blame her for not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars to have the same conversations in person.

I have said a few times that we can't just say something Chris does is bad just because it is something Chris did. The same thing applies to Anna.

Y'know, I think I figured it out.

Anna first popped up early on in the trolling, when information was scarce and any source that had seen Chris in person was considered gold. With the exception of The Crazy Pacer, though, her information was almost always something the trolls already knew (such as Chris's homophobia). Anna vanished around the same time the trolls started to open lines of communication to Chris, only surfacing every now and then to snicker at Chris's antics.

But then Chris fled to Facebook, and it became harder for people he didn't already know to contact him. Around this time, Anna resurfaced--as Chris trusted her, she likely saw herself as having full control over all remaining lines to Chris.

So, being herself, she held a session with some of /cow/'s userbase. Her overall tone was pretty much "HA! I have full power over Chris, so if you EVER want new content again, you'll be nice to me and friend me on tumblr!". I've heard that she tried and failed to expose Jackie around the same time, too.

It seems that what makes her tick isn't trolls remorse or genuine concern for Chris, but rather a desire to be in a position of power over a large group of people.

While I agree in theory, in practice it's Anna who claimed she cared so much about Chris, yet the fact that she seems to have helped far less than anyone else is bewildering at best. Best case scenario, she could have gone to visit him (I know Amtrak is EXPENSIVE, but still). Worst case scenario, she could have sent him something. As far as we know the best she's done is what she always does, offer some ass-pats over e-mail or the phone.
If I had a friend in Chris' current situation, I don't really see how the benefits of me visiting would justify the expense. Like, Chris would feel a little bit better to have a friend visit him, but it wouldn't be worth the money for the trip.

Eh, Anna definitely enjoyed the attention she got as a Chris insider way back in the day, but nowadays, she's aware she doesn't have any control over the trolls. I really think she just thinks she's helping Chris, because she's stupid as hell and doesn't know any better.

That may be it, but I seem to recall the Dude mentioning meeting her and saying that she really did buy into the whole 'Chris is just a misunderstood guy' bullshit. So maybe it's a combination of both?

You know, if a bunch of random spergs following the antics on an entitled, autistic manbaby can organize a donation and send him a care package, then I'm sure his "friend" could at least do the same. It doesn't have to be as big as the one sent to him or include money, but I'm pretty sure some canned and dry goods would of been appreciated (or what passes for appreciation in the Chandler household).

If she had the money to visit him, it'd be better off if she just mailed it to him as a donation. I mean, it's not just the plane/train ticket, there's lodging and food expenses as well. Even if she has someone local who could put her up, it's not a cheap proposition.

"Or you could stay with me in my hotel room. My mommy will leave us to ourselves..." :tomgirl:

Come on... you KNOW that's what Chris would be thinking.

At the risk of incriminating myself, it's amazing how Chris manages to attract a lot of really stupid people into his life.

At the additional risk of offending everyone here, Chris seems to attract a lot of weird people precisely because the odds are good there's something wrong upstairs if you're following the antics of a thirty-something autistic man-child. Let's face it, it's not a subject likely to appeal to people who aren't at least a LITTLE crazy.

Me included.

I would argue that you could say the same for people who watch shit like "The Real Housewives" or "Mob Wives."

The problem with chris is that he's an arsehole because he's not fully conscious of what he does, or what he says, and how that affects him or the others, and he's not fully conscious because he's :stupid:
However, anna is :stupid: because she's an arsehole, and she's an arsehole because she's actually conscious of what he does and says, and she thinks that she's a superior person for being that way.

And I would argue that right along with you. My roommate's (soon-to-be-ex) wife watched alllll those shows, plus Teen Mom in all its incarnates AND nobody else could watch TV because either she was watching that shit or she was recording that shit to watch later. That woman had more issues than People Magazine.

At least Chris is kind of interesting to follow, in a weird fucked up way like serial killers and North Korea are. There aren't many people THAT level of crazy. At least that aren't behind bars.

I'm one of the people who is also interested in Chris out of pure psychological curiosity. It also bears mentioning that I also like reading and watching shit about North Korea and serial murderers, soooooo... yeah.
