Another Evil Dead game (Left 4 Dead inspired)

Oh yeah, if it's an EGS exclusive or EGS timed release, I'm just going to promptly forget about it.
I'll pirate it to try the single player but I really, really fucking hope the devs are smart enough to not suck Tim Sweeney's dick.

It comes out next month. Epic Gay Store exclusive for a year as I feared.

They had a beta and the gameplay looks... Rough.

This gives me a lot of Friday the 13th: the game flashbacks and not in a good way. A lot of similarities only with an emphasis on guns and melee weapons.

Cool, won't be making an epic account to play it. Maybe after a year of dev it'll be better.

EDIT: Browsing YT seems like people are enjoying it.

Evil Dead is not a good fit for a Left 4 Dead style game, you only want to play as Ash, not no name characters.

What would have been wrong with making another single player Evil Dead game in the proud tradition of Hail To The King, Fistful of Boomstick and Regeneration?

It's funny how we're seeing so many Left 4 Dead type games now when L4D is over a decade old, why take so much influence now after all these years? Reminds me of how with movies it took a decade until you started seeing Blair Witch ripoffs.

Because L4D is best game of its type.
But why did it take so long for other games to take influence from it? Only in recent years have we really seen imitators start to pop up, years after L4D 1 and 2.

At the time the L4D games felt fresh and unique, but the hotter shit was Call of Duty style fragfests, so that's what most tried to imitate, I guess it's no surprise that as that became done to death developers started to notice the potential of L4D.

So I decided to bite the bullet and install EGS and get this, based solely on the sheer amount of reviews I've heard from peers. I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised at how fun this game is and how spot on they nailed the feeling and atmosphere of Evil Dead.

It's alright; the aesthetic and mood is down to a t but the gameplay is just the same old dbd shill. I like the deadite gameplay but I get terrible motion sickness which kills it a little (plus there aren't many options regarding game settings aka motion blur and stuff).
Single player feels a little empty & it really feels like the game is purely built for multiplayer. Overall it's alright, fair price for what it is. I would have preferred the same style but as an exploration, silent hill narrative story kinda deal. I'm interested in what the Texas Chainsaw game will be but I honestly hope it's not another one of these.

How is the gameplay like DbD? You can actually confront the killers. The only thing it has in common is being 4v1 and horror based.

I agree with you that options are a bit lackluster, but I also think the simplistic combat and controls add to it's charm. Single player DOES feel tacked on but it's still something to do when most of these types of games don't even have the option. Personally, I'm fine with a L4D game with an Evil Dead skin. The style is proven and it's fun. The last time there was a "Silent Hill" type ED game, it was on PS1 and it was pretty goddamn bad and overly difficult.

Game is pretty fucking rad -at the moment- with some fresh gameplay and interesting features. However it is showing similar issues balance wise to DBD in that a 4 man survivor sweat group in comms will 99% of the time buttfuck a killer/demon player. Not sure the dev's track record with balance, or if the game will still even be alive in the future because lol epic exclusive, but its tons of fun now but I sadly only see it going downhill from here.

Bet no one will play it and it will die because its an Epic exclusive and by the time it comes to Steam the majority of people will forget it exists.
It's never going to show up on Steam. Steam has said No NFTs. Epic has said yes to NFTs. This is the same company who did the Cenobite NFT thing. Hellraiser has been removed but they mentioned Ash vs the Evil dead as one of the up-coming NFTs.

I went to go and find the video where someone was outing this when it first game out but it seems to have been purged from everything. Maybe because of the connection to Ash vs Evil dead, but if there is ever an NFT connection, it won't be on Steam.

So what do we prefer playing, Demon or Hero, I’m personally more of a Hero guy myself, loving using ED1 Ash to prox Melee heals and deal bonus damage to marked enemies lol
