Some food for thought about CSK. Norton speculated that CSK might have booted Anthony on his own volition before he had to witness two of his old friends coming to blows. Opie pointed out that CSK probably avoided grabbing and shoving Ant out of respect for their history together. This whole situation is so sad.

It's absolutely not sad.

CSK absolutely bailed Anthony out though, as whatever Ant was gearing up to do was going to be infinitely more embarrassing than being asked to leave the club.

That happened a year ago, I remember when Chrissie went on WATP to recount her harrowing encounter with this proud woman of color.

My posts have fucking sucked the last few weeks. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've posted something out of date. My apologies. The channel that posted it decided to put the video details in the comments instead of the description or title.

Don't worry about it, guys like Ant do that intentionally when nothing interesting is happening and they need to boost views a little. We all know that an average day for Ant is ten hours of reading vdare and the rest is watching videos of 13 year old girls playing in the pool on Instagram.

In Ant's version of events, Opie didn't do much more than hold the studio door open for him and then keep a seat warm until Jim Norton showed up a few years later. He always says something like "I'll always be grateful for Opie giving me the opportunity to show the world what a great entertainer I am" before shitting on the guy for 15 minutes.
Listening to old O&A clips, I think Jim Norton was funnier than both of them.

Jim was the funniest, then Ant. Opie only made me laugh once or twice and I've listened to them for thousands of hours. What was funniest was when Ant and Jim would get on a roll and feed off each other. They were much funnier together than individually, which is why it's so unfortunate that Jim wouldn't take a pay cut to work for Ant.

I think the window for the Jim & Ant show is closed. Not because they wouldn't be willing, but the corporate life has changed how Jimmy does comedy and its just not as fast or cutting as it used to be. He picked his most retarded, milquetoast character (Chip) and abandoned all his funnier and edgier characters (Uncle Paul.)

He realized that edge can only get you so far and even become a liability when you're trying to get to the next level. Opie and Anthony were extremely lucky that XM Radio needed something, anything to compete with Howard Stern on Sirius and were willing to overlook all the bullshit that came with the show. That isn't going to happen again, not for these guys.

I meant Jim going to Compound Media instead of Ant coming back to SiriusXM. Jim said he considered leaving after his contract expired in 2014/2015 but decided against it because Ant couldn't offer him as much money as SXM.

Chip was funny for a quick zinger (as was the really old character he did, I forget the name, Edgar maybe?). He milked that character for everything it was worth which wasn't much. Uncle Paul was able at least to string together short bits and be funny the whole way through.

Ant seems to have found new life (sort of?) getting his OG twitter account back. Right now their worlds are pretty far apart in terms of comedy and business.

As for Opie, he was the needed straight man on the show that Ant could use as a foil. He was never funny, but the show would have been weird without him.

He also likely knew that CompoundMedia was a huge liability and that Anthony was never going to be a CEO to be taken seriously.

It's a boring decision but also the smart decision.

Were Ant's shouting matches with callers just a bit, or was he genuinely angry when they'd talk shit about him?

I don't really notice Opie. I take it from fan feedback that being the least funny one made him envious and resentful?

A little of both for Ant. He was probably genuine when it came to politics, especially in the Obama years. However, O&A being O&A, there were times when they fucked with callers. For example, the silent game was when Opie and Anthony would just say nothing, making the caller leave. They would then call the caller again and say it was a connection error, only to be silent again.

Something to add is that Opie was the ‘bit’ man of the show. I believe that most of the notorious events of the show, 50 gallon drum challenge, homeless shopping spree, Sex for Sam, were proposed by Opie. Anthony is really conflict avoidant when there is something important at risk, such as with the fact that he wanted long term contracts while Opie wanted short term ones.

I could not see Anthony proposing to management that the best way to promote the show would be drive a bus full of topless women through New York City. Opie would be talking to management about the numbers it would draw, how they’ve done more outrageous stuff before; persuade the higher ups in a way they would understand.

Opie would have been the perfect program director for any shock jock show in the 90s. His ability to really generate bits fell off hard by the time they left terrestrial radio. The only problem is he ended up on air and wasn't interesting or funny the majority of the time. He was incredibly savvy in the radio business, but he was a shit entertainer.

Was that the incident where people got arrested for fucking inside St. Patrick's Cathedral?
Anal fucking. The fact that sodomy was involved was one of the things that put it over the top. The Catholic League got involved.

When the St. Patrick's Cathedral incident happened all of the adults in my life believed that O&A were paying people to have sex in churches throughout NYC, and that they did so because they were atheists. I tuned in a few times after that but all I ever heard was a lot of dagos yelling nonsense.

He's no more racist now than he was 15 years ago, but 15 years ago these same people kissed his ass because he controlled a platform that could launch any comedian into stardom. I get the fallout but a lot of the older comedians giving him shit are being kind of two faced.
The difference was that Anthony had enough self-control to keep it in check on the air. When the guy from Panzerfaust records came on and espoused his views on race, Anthony contested them and played the 'good boy'. If this was today, Anthony would have him on as a guest and they would circle jerk each other about blacks. Whether or not that's based, it's not smart if you want to keep your multi-million dollar a year job at a big corporation. Anthony would probably be making a killing if he had been able to not go full retard on Twitter over a woman he was stalking, especially since Howard is a fag now and conservative content is big money.
