💼 Careercow Anthony Cumia - A once successful radio host crashes and burns, turning on all his fans and the drama around it

The difference was that Anthony had enough self-control to keep it in check on the air. When the guy from Panzerfaust records came on and espoused his views on race, Anthony contested them and played the 'good boy'. If this was today, Anthony would have him on as a guest and they would circle jerk each other about blacks. Whether or not that's based, it's not smart if you want to keep your multi-million dollar a year job at a big corporation. Anthony would probably be making a killing if he had been able to not go full retard on Twitter over a woman he was stalking, especially since Howard is a fag now and conservative content is big money.
I still don't see how him calling a woman that attacked him an animal was more racist than calling people that never attacked him niggers, or wearing nazi regalia in NYC and trying to hail a cab. The "Bowling for Behave" show was 10x more racist that what he got fired for, and it's considered one of his all time great rants.

When it comes to guests that are more actively racist than Ant, he's just a coward when it comes to confrontation. Any time an adult man pushes back on him, he gets flashbacks of daddy throwing spaghetti against the wall. This carried over to his compound show and it almost ruined his relationship with the great Ron Bennington.

He admitted in the tweets that got him fired that he called her a nigger to her face. He also kept calling her a cunt and said "they aren't people", all in front of the Twitter mob and not safely hidden behind the Sirius XM paywall, where no one would hear him besides people who recently bought a car. He wasn't doing a bit or trolling, he was just a sexual predator with a concussion who was mad that his would-be target humiliated him. Regardless of where you stand on the question of the humanity of niggers, you have to admit that he brought it on himself.

I'll admit to being a racist but even to me this shit seems psychotic:

Nigs laugh at the brutal shit they do all the time. He’s Italian so he’s part black anyway.

I don’t know, the world of comedy has changed dramatically since even 2014. I think the big strength of O&A was the caliber of comedians that would be regulars on the show. There’s no way that would continue in current year plus eight. Some kike at SiriusXM would demand that Ali Wong and Lilly Singh be the guests in the studio. Plus old regulars like Bill Burr we’re turning into unfunny faggots to continue getting gigs. I think the show wouldn’t have lasted much longer as it was.

That was the build up to his firing though. I know Opie lies his face off, but I tend to believe him when he says that management was tired of Anthony's race rants. Most of us were anyway. The Zimmerman saga was so hard to sit through, I usually would turn my radio down and then come back every ten minutes to see if they were done yet. It would explain why they dropped him so quickly even though there was very little outrage online.

I guess you're right. The show was becoming pretty stale before he got fired. I think the sudden loss of the show made a lot of fans think the last couple of years were way better than they actually were. I do think Bill would have continued to engaged with Anthony though if he had stayed on Sirius and not trashed his wife.

It's not just Anthony.

XM Satellite radio was willing to invest in O&A and deal with all of their horseshit (the fan forums, the existing terrestrial contract, the live audience, the heat, the special accomodations, etc) but after the merger it's pretty clear that SXM was not willing to do any of that. It could be said at best that SXM was willing to tolerate Opie and Anthony as long as they made more than they cost, did not get any special treatment, Opie was not allowed to talk to Howard Stern or try to create any shock jock drama (lol), and neither of them could create any more headaches for SXM.

Shit that flew at the old company was not going to fly at the new one. At XM - O&A were one of the flagship shows and had major investment from leadership. At SXM they were literal dogshit. Anthony is a lot of things but he isn't 100% retarded and him constantly pushing the envelope on SXM might have just been his way to break out of his contract to focus 100% on CompoundMedia. Opie was also shown the door not long after for rocking the boat as well.

It also doesn't help that the comedy landscape changed and the comics themselves realized that they could just do their own radio shows/podcasts (Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Jim Bruer, etc) instead of going on existing shows - so it's unlikely that O&A would have stayed as is.

I don't know. Choosing to focus on Cumpound Media is a retarded thing to do. He was clearing over a million a year with his last contract. When I bought a car in like 2012 O&A and Howard were on the little brochure they gave me for Sirius XM with equal billing. They were closely trailing Howard and got access to huge guests, I don't think Sirius hated them.

Now he does shows to less than a thousand people. Josh does like 10 times the numbers that Cumia does in his streams. Whether or not O&A would have lasted into the rise of podcasts would still be a safer bet then sperging about niggers and getting fired. Those same comedians still do zoo crew radio shows so I would think they would still do O&A.

His fuck up was putting the show behind a paywall. A big chunk of his audience grew up with Napster and they're not big on paying for digital media.

They referenced taking a massive pay cut when Sirius and XM merged and they clearly were in the #2 position compared to Stern.

The move to being independent through Compound Media was the smart move just from a creative control standpoint - as Opie and to an extent Anthony wanted XM 202 to be more than just the "Opie and Anthony" show, they wanted to fill it with programming (Ron and Fez, Black Philip, Lazlow's show, Sam and that other guy, Bill Burr's old podcast, etc) and that was something off the table at SXM - and never took off at XM anyhow.

The main issue is that Anthony just did a bad job transitioning. He burnt the bridge with Opie and Jim enough where neither of them came on board and made his content hard to access, extremely polarizing, and included very little of what made Opie and Anthony a success (aka fun).

So it was a good idea - just executed terribly.

Anthony admitted he would have kept signing with SiriusXM forever if he could it was good money and an easy gig.

He also said they claimed it was the "Calls to Violence" in his tweets that got him shit canned. Truth I believe SiriusXM jumped at the chance to just dump him.

As for Compound Media O&A were doing an Apology Clock in 2014 every time someone apologized for wrong think they'd reset the clock and it was getting reset a lot. I think Anthony knew on some level his days if not all of O&A's were numbered given his and the shows history so he was setting up Compound Media as his exit he just had to exit sooner than planned.

Yeah, Anthony use to keep his racism in check to just Archie Bunker levels which is mild bigotry but once let go and now with Gavin who seems to bring out the worst in him he's David Duke levels.

He ragequit a COD match mid-game so he was banned for a short while and had a psychotic meltdown. Here's a clip of him raging at someone in a discord trying to help him:

His new stream. I think he deleted the previous one because he said nigger a bunch of times:

Nana's dementia is really setting in. What a remarkable decline.

I would agree with this, especially with how big podcasts are, but it's a bad move for Anthony since he's dumb when it came to setting it up and threw a show up that features his ugly mug behind a paywall. His smartest bet would have been to calm down, BEHAVE, and just stuck with Sirius. Even if they go under in a couple of years that would have been five plus years of making seven figures and then he could have retired and done podcasts whenever he wanted. Dude is in his sixties. Who the fuck wants to keep working and hustling in their sixties?

He probably doesn't have a choice. He assumed he could command a multi-million dollar salary until he decided to retire. When he could put his money into safe investments, he thought it would be more fun to play blackjack at $20k/hand while piss drunk on 10 cent beer. He's turning into a broke Scott Shannon.

O&A would not have lasted past 2016. It was on borrowed time. Patrice was long dead, Louis CK and Bill Burr would have just ignored them, leaving them with Jim Norton. Some SiriusXM executive would tell them that it’d be a great idea to host Adam Conover or they’d get too triggered at Anthony’s support for Trump. Opie got canned in 2018, it definitely would not have lasted past that.

Yeah, SiriusXM was a sweet gig but those opportunities were drying up, they just found a reason to can him. It’s a surprise that it’s even around these days. I bet a big chunk of business are people too lazy to cancel their subscription. I canceled my subscription a couple years ago and had to wait on line for over three hours.

Unsurprisingly, most podcast pirate ships have sunk over the years because most comedians are not successful businessmen. They just assume they’d host a show, the paypigs would arrive, they’d invite their buddies to do their own shows, what could go wrong? Opie was the guy behind the scenes even though he was considered the radio hole at the time. Now nobody has anything. Comedians are retards.

Why would Burr ignore them? You know these comedians still do shitty zoo crew shows when they're on tour right? If Bill Burr would still do Z Morning Zoo why wouldn't he go on O&A? They would have lasted past 2016 if Anthony calmed down, that was my whole point. If Jim and Sam can exist today so could have O&A, I really don't understand why anyone would think they couldn't. Again, though, it would have to take Anthony calming the fuck down which as based as maybe ranting about niggers might be, it's retarded to do when you're making seven figures a year.

Burr sold out harder than the other regulars. He started making Disney money and he's married to a BLM queen. His options were to be himself but be isolated to comedy, or tone it down and become a Hollywood C lister.

The first time 2009 Jimmy told him he wanted his grandmother to have her hat removed by a melanated man in a vestibule, Bill would have to push back or be chastised by the anointed class. It's like when Colin Quinn's Broadway show opened and he had to take a handler everywhere he went. They made him dial the humor back because it would hurt the show. Disney would definitely do the same to Burr.

Doesn't he still go on Rogan's podcast, though? I'm not trying to stand up for Bill, but he seems to still do some shows that aren't completely leftist.
