Can someone explain the whole Bert Kreischer saga to me? Because unlike every other hated comedian that gets a million YouTube videos and social media posts made on them, I don't get the level of vitriol being directed his way. Yeah, he is unfunny. Yeah, he is a drunk. Is that really all there is to him?

Is it because he associated with Joe Rogan's sphere and by proxy people have to hate him? Because I just don't get the level of hate he receives when on the surface no one can do a more thorough job of explaining why he deserves so much hate.

I know there was a controversy in the last few years involving him and Tom Segura about their two bears podcast. Basically, Tom and Bert would go on and on about how rich they were, and their lifestyles fans point out that this constant talk about their wealth was unrelatable and unlikeable now instead of just listening to their fans and quit talking about their wealth they went nuclear. They went off on how they earned their wealth and people who complained were jealous losers who didn't have the talent or drive they had and that went over about as well as you'd think. It blew up in their faces when fans started to point out that they were both young fuck ups born with silver spoons in their mouths.

The whole Van Wilder myth with Bert that he was this charming party animal in college is in stark contrast to what he actually was which was a drunk fuck up who could be a drunk fuck up because daddy had money hell he probably only got into college thanks to daddy's money. If Bert's parents had been working class, he would have never gone to college and be working a dead-end job right now.

The Two Bears Podcast thing is recent (and quite frankly has more to do with Segura than Kreischer), but another huge thing about Bert is that he tells the same "Machine" story at every show. The Machine story is funny, but not the millionth time, and his stand-up is not good. Bert gets a huge leg up from Rogan and his circle, and remember that he has a wife and two kids who rely on his income while acting the way that he does. He refuses to admit that his lifestyle is destructive, he sets a horrible example to younger comics (and people), and he basically still behaves like a 13-year-old kid. The only reason he's a famous celebrity and not some sad sack sitting in an AA meeting is he got lucky.

Bert is not a bad person, but his behaviours are extremely grating. It's hard to believe that a guy still acts the way he does at his age. He does appear to be a genuinely gregarious person and I have never heard stories of him fucking people over, being an asshole to fans, or whatever. There are far worse and more annoying people in the comedy scene, but Bert is so bombastic that it bugs people.
 
The Machine story is a classic tale where a hack comedian finds his 20 minutes for stand-up and that's all he does for the rest of his career. Also, the more you hear it the more it feels like much of his college escapades it has to be greatly exaggerated.

Bert's the type of guy if he was your neighbor he'd be fun to invite over the 1st few times but eventually you'd realize all he does is get drunk and tells the same story over and over again and eventually you stop inviting him to events.

Why am I replying to myself to bring this back up in this thread? I found it interesting that while listening they bring up Kurt Love (Anthony's convicted pedophile friend) and how he was hanging around FH Riley's (in the heart of Huntington Village) and that Anthony was going to meet him there. The same Kurt Love who I believe 'trafficked' Bobo's sister to Ant's house for the hot tub incident.
 
Also worth mentioning that Rogan seems to have turned on Bert somewhat and has been excluding him from certain things he would previously have been invited to.

Bert annoys me massively but I have met him and he was very friendly. He’s extremely obnoxious whenever I see him doing a show or whatever but he wasn’t even the most irritating guy at the party that night. Seems like he found a shtick, leaned into it, then beat it to death. People are naturally sick of him. All the “You don’t understand how hard it is to be rich because you never bothered trying to do anything with your life” bullshit from him and Segura didn’t help.

I think Bert is very impressionable and Segura is a well-known psychopath. Segura did it to fuck with people and got Kreischer on board with it as a useful idiot for the bit. That's my assessment, anyway.

People find Bert Kreischer obnoxious because his stories and jokes are all “you had to be there, bro” bullshit. We all have (or had) a friend who has stories that are mostly bullshit. But imagine telling the same bullshit stories for over 15 years now as his act does not substantially change. To add insult to injury, he thinks being loud is the same as being funny. Then to add a cherry to that shit sundae, he has the most grating, obnoxious fake laugh. So I understand that people might find him funny at first and then get tired of him right away.
 
I dislike Bert because he's one of those guys who revels in being unhealthy. Always walking around with no shirt on, going, "hey look how fat I am! HONK HONK." Being overweight isn't funny and calling attention to it is anti-funny.

I get a lot of this. I just feel a lot of his critics are way too obsessed with him. With the amount of content made on him and the way people talk about him, I was thinking he had some big scandal like he was talking to underage girls or something. People online will talk about not finding Kevin Hart funny and being annoyed with the amount of exposure he receives, but it ends there.

It seems like everyone on the other hand wants to see Kreischer fry for being unfunny and obnoxious. I really do believe people are making mountains out of molehills with him simply because they have a vendetta against Joe Rogan and by proxy Kreischer has to be repeatedly bashed for being associated with his clique.

Based on what I remember about his feud with Dice, that's pretty accurate. Dice is a thin skinned faggot himself though so their feud was a catty slapfight as I remember it.
