💼 Careercow Anthony Cumia - A once successful radio host crashes and burns, turning on all his fans and the drama around it

I get why they don't make it more public, but I would like a chance to visit Fez's resting place and pay my respects. Never met the dude but he brought me so much joy.

Anthony, on the other hand, desperately clung to that radio job and thought that would be his life until retirement. He was a tin knocker for years, then fell into radio, and was (by his own admission) terrified about their move from WAAF to WNEW. Their famous "Mayor Menino is dead" stunt was intentional so they could move to WNEW, but Anthony was sweating bullets that they'd just get fired and he'd have to go back to industrial stapling and his cunt of a wife. Then him and Jimmy were both terrified after the St. Patrick's thing, but Opie was cool as a cucumber the whole time because they quickly negotiated with XM and Infinity was required to pay out the rest of their contract. Even Jimmy commented later that he was really nervous about this and Opie repeatedly, and correctly, told him that everything would be okay.
I wouldn't say Opie was cool as a cucumber, as he plainly realized that they weren't allowed to capitalize on their newfound infamy and it was going to have severe repercussions on their momentum to be off the air for two years - even if they got paid for it.

Anthony also, after becoming a millionaire, realized that it wasn't just money - he had fans, clout, and power from being "Anthony, from Opie and Anthony" and didn't want that to end either. He could be openly racist, a boozehound, a pedo, whatever - not a single person cared so long as they got to benefit from it by being on his show to plug whatever they were doing. He could bully guests, they'd have women do whatever, he could do blow at his house with listeners, he was a VIP everywhere he went in most circles he ran in.

Now those circles are closed to him. His old security guard bounces him out of clubs he's not allowed in for talking to comics he's not allowed to speak to anymore (who bravely stood up to him after being on his show for a decade). Virtually no one cares about what he's doing now and any fame he has is a holdover from what he did a decade ago (or people making fun of him for getting banged by a Youtuber Tranny who's now too famous for him). Even his industry "friends" (Norton and Ronny B) don't include him in any projects they're doing.

I'm sure it's not just the money he was worried about.
Only a few more years and Ant will want to fuck it. Then a few more years after that he'll lose interest.
I'm fairly certain Ant would fuck it now.

I actually argue differently. Cumia and Norton achieved their full potential. In fact, I would argue they achieved far more than they should have and punched far greater than their afforded weight class. In reality they should have both been working terrible, dead end jobs and drowning their problems away with booze every night.

What they actually are are living examples what happens when poor quality idiots with low impulse control stumble into fame and success. They proceed to destroy their lives with their dumb behavior because they suddenly have money and connections that can allow them to take their poor behavior to a much worse level.
Cumia 100% did not reach his full potential but he's a lazy shitsack who gave up the second he was remotely comfortable.

Norton achieved 400% of his potiental - he turned ~15 minutes of fame into fucking ~15 years of it and made it work well beyone his talent should have let him.

I'm sure it's not just the money he was worried about.
Oh, for sure. It wasn't just the money. Ant liked being famous and did not want to go back to being a nobody tradesman. Jim still has stand-up and Opie is a lot happier, by his own admission, spending time with his family. Anthony has... well, we've seen what he has.

Cumia (and, to a lesser degree, Norton) are living examples of how indulging one’s most base urges without restraint will absolutely destroy a person’s ability to achieve his full potential. Cumia seems incapable of self-examination or reflection, let alone any capacity to humble himself or admit error. He’s a giant coward and it’s hard not to be glad he’s living (dying) as a pathetic old rageaholic who’s bankrolling a manly bitch’s sad life just so he doesn’t have to die *alone.

* like his mother Ro did thanks to being abandoned by her sons as she lived through the terror of dementia in a facility, surrounded by complete strangers
Ronnie B sums up Cumia perfectly here

I think reddit was relentless, they would cancel his brothers gigs, have amazing art that made Cumia look so awful and other creative things. (remember that dude that trolled joe cumia, tried to steal speakers and killed his kid or a kid because he thought he was getting chased) Kiwi farms don't condone fucking with people. So it has 0 effect on his life.
Don't forget that one hilarious pest that would always call into his compound show on Ants birthday and verbally destroy him every time.

He def seems online enough to know about kiwi farms.
Cumia would at least know of the Farms. Karl mentions KF from time to time, but that's usually in the context of Steel Toe. It's at the other end of the Dabbleverse where the likes of Fatty Patty, those inbreds on BYB, Pretty Anti-Social etc tend to hang.

Even if Nana is fully aware of KF, the fact that there are relatively few of his a-logs and/or old school DV followers over here wouldn't give him much incentive to come mingle.

I'd assume Cumia knows of the Farms as he was even briefly interviewed by a pre-gigalolcow Nick Rekieta. If he didn't know about this place at the time of Rekieta asking him about Sue Lightning, there's no way he wasn't made aware of the Farms after that.

Ronnie wanted to work with Ant for the longest time, then he did a show or two, and realized that Anthony stinks.
I always wondered how much Ron knew about Anthony from working in the same company for so long. Not so much in terms of the more extreme stuff regarding Anthony, but more so about how he was as a co-worker. I like to imagine even he knew Anthony was somebody who needed to be tard wrangled and that is why he never go onboard with Compound Media.

Their blow up was incredibly sad to watch. You could see that Ron was desperate to reach through to Anthony in a personal way. Throughout Anthony's entire lolcow descent he was arguably the one person who genuinely cared about Ant's well-being and wanted nothing more than to convince Anthony to knock it off with the behavior that was ruining his life.

Of course Anthony didn't listen to the fans when they tried to get through to him so he certainly wasn't going to listen to Ronnie's advice. It just shows you how Anthony only cares about himself. No one can reach through to him because in Anthony's mind he is automatically right and doesn't care about those around him.

AntH pantomiming like he's taking anything Ronnie is saying remotely seriously was as transparent as it was enraging. Pathetic old fruit deserved how he ended up.

It highlighted just how much of a coward and emotionally fragile Anthony is. Ron literally just wants to have a conversation and literally proceeds to shut down because he doesn't even want to consider what Ron has to say. He can't ever handle being made to feel uncomfortable.

I feel what really threw Anthony for a loop was how Ron decided to approach it: he didn't scream at Anthony or curse him out. He didn't even start off with blatant criticism of who Anthony is or go into a full on lecture. He literally told Anthony how great he was and how much people adore him.

Anthony had no idea how to defend himself when it wasn't a blatant attack. Ron took the more compassionate approach of trying to reason with him and Anthony was completely inept on how to approach a response.
Ronny realized he was talking to Fez.
It is weird just how many parallels the two shows had with each other. Of course Fez for all of his issues is still more likable and sympathetic than Anthony is. Ron and Fez also didn't spectacularly explode like a nuclear blast the way Opie and Anthony did. Their plane spiraling out of control was still somehow able to receive a gentile landing.

Slight PL, I work the front desk on the overnight shift at a hotel... about 20 minutes ago, some scraggly looking dude came into the lobby asking (more like skitzo mumbling) about one of our female desk clerks. This guy seemed really off his rocker. Anyway, after some argumentative back and forth with the nut, I realized why I thought he looked so familiar. He looked remarkably like our good pal Anthony Cumia. After I basically told him to fuck off, as he was headed out the door, I said, "Feed Nana". He did an about face and said, "huh? I said, "forget it" and let him go. He wasn't a guest, and he was a fucking nut besides (we've had alot of those since covid), so I felt no need to be polite, lol. He really did look like Anthony, lol.

Feed Nana returned, He doesn't stay long enough for me to call the cops. lol
