Opinion Anti-Semitic hate is surging. It’s time to take a stand - We cannot stay silent in the face of anti-Jewish bigotry and violence

Many records were broken in 2023. The World Health Organisation celebrated a landmark year for disease elimination. Advancements in artificial intelligence now empower us to do anything from writing a Beatles-inspired song to identifying individuals at high risk of pancreatic cancer. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift made music history by simultaneously charting 10 albums on the US Billboard 200, and Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare” secured the title of the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever.

However, 2023 also marked a much darker milestone. The Anti-Defamation League recorded its highest ever number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States. The staggering 8,873 incidents constitute a 140 per cent increase from 2022, which was already a record-breaking year. This alarming figure isn’t confined to domestic concerns within the United States; it’s a global wake-up call.

After Hamas’ horrendous attack on Israeli innocents, anti-Semitic incidents skyrocketed around the globe, with 5,204 recorded post-October 7 in the United States alone. We must confront this reality head-on and call it what it is: a global state of emergency.
On August 3, a group of Jewish students in Melbourne, Australia were on a public bus. A self-proclaimed “Nazi” threatened them with a knife and chased them, shouting anti-Semitic slurs. Some 16,000 kilometers away on September 9, a young man made his way to synagogue in Marseille, France. Attackers tried to run him over with their car and yelled “I’m going to massacre you, get on your knees, you dirty Jew”. On December 18, a Jewish man was violently assaulted in London’s Finsbury Park by an attacker who was shouting “kill the Jew.”
These aren’t just statistics; they are real attacks on real people.

This truth became even more evident last month when I had the honor of hosting a group of Jewish leaders from around the world. During a collaborative roundtable discussion at our annual Never Is Now summit, we brought together 60 inspiring leaders from dozens of Jewish communities across the globe, including the UK, Argentina, Australia, France, South Africa, Chile, and many more. Each community grappled with a different form of the same rise in hate.

Preliminary findings from a survey ADL fielded earlier this year in the seven countries with the largest Jewish diasporas, show that the percentage of British adults who harbor significant anti-Semitic attitudes has more than doubled within the last year. This alarming rise in anti-Semitic attitudes in the UK parallel the alarming spike in hate crimes targeting Jewish individuals and institutions in the country.

As the transatlantic parallels of anti-Semitism spikes become increasingly evident, Britons cannot afford to ignore the data emerging from the United States. The rising tide of hatred knows no borders, and we have no choice but to stand in solidarity against anti-Semitism wherever it rears its head. Recognising the interconnectedness of our experiences and the shared responsibility to combat bigotry, we must acknowledge a fundamental truth: anti-Semitism concerns us all.

While distinctive in its nature, anti-Semitism shares a common trait with other forms of hate – it thrives in silence and flourishes in complacency. By standing together against it, we send a powerful message that discrimination of any kind has no place in our communities.

What amazes me about all these "we've accomplished so much, but we still have so much work to do!" types is that normal people can hear all of these activist NGOs say, year after year, that despite record funding, awareness campaigns, mandatory HR training, and the backing of Government, Corporations, University, and Media, somehow all their hard work made the problem even worse, so they need even more of everything next year.

Of course they don't want any of their pet causes to ever have an actual solution, but the chutzpah of claiming to work on something for years or decades while also saying it's worse than ever has to have people questioning why we throw so many billions at these charlatans, right?
The tell to me is they can't describe what the end goal looks like.

I'll donate to a new basketball hoop fund because I can tell if it was worth it by whether a new one ever goes up.

How am I supposed to know if "racism" has been solved, much less anything one person did moved us closer or further? Dunno, just "trust the experts" who are all self-appointed.

Before the USSC axed affirmative action, I'd get into arguments with people for it who admitted it was fundamentally wrong, but, that "someday" when racism is solved, we won't need it.

When asked when that day would come? And what it would look like so we'd know when to stop?

They couldn't answer

When they couldn't answer, I'd always advocate that we might as well end it today since if you can't describe that "someday", how do you know it isn't today? Right now?

They either got really quiet, or really angry at that point....

I love how leftists jews stoked anti-white hatred for 30 years, and now are freaking out the racist golem they created is now turning on them.
In a just world the ADL would be under massive lawfare for inciting every black on jew beatdown in the 5boroughs.

In the 2002-3 Supreme Court case, Sandra Day O'Connor (pretty Liberal) made that argument, that racial preferences were necessary but would surely go away once they'd accomplished their mission, and in 25 year would be long gone.

Fast forward to 2023 and it was hilarious to hear the race hustlers kvetch that that statement had no precedent, and of course 20+ years later we ackchyually need racial preferences more than ever, forever.

Can you even imagine getting a modern DEI "professional" to give any kind of progress report or timeline for winding things down? Or would it be like defining "fair share" of taxes as anything other than the moving goalpost of "more"?

They keep forgetting to mention that this dramatic increase coincided with their changing the definition to include "anti-zionism" so that every critique of Israel from "I think Israel goes a bit far with the whole bombing civilians bit" to "Israel isn't a legit state" are counted the same as a guy punching a Jew in the head because he's wearing a yarmulka.
Well, if the penalty for disagreeing with them is the same as the penalty for playing the knockout game with them...

Edit: dyslexia.

In a just world, the ADL would be seen as a supremacist faction ala the KKK and would be dismantled immediately. But because the media is firmly in the same hands that perpetuated the Holodomor and various Communist atrocities... nope.

The ((())) will take a stand over your dead body.

Antisemitism used to connote supporting an innocent people being rounded up, displaced and murdered just because they're a minority. Now it connotes not supporting an innocent people being rounded up, displaced and murdered just because they're a minority

I walked down to the grocery store yesterday. I went to the butcher shop to get some chicken.

There's a young lady working there who is really nice. You can't get mad at this person because she has such a positive demeanor. You all know the type, I'm sure.

When she saw me, a regular, she said, "thank God, a normal person!"

She said she was having a tough shift, because some woman had yelled at her.

I was shocked.

"This lady came in trying to get a brisket, because it's Passover," she said. "We didn't have one and she started screaming at me, like, 'You'd never do this to me if it was Christmas, huh?!' I didnt know what to do."

The unpleasantness of jews, ladies and gentlemen.
I've had this happen to me at a previous job. Jewess starts fucking screaming because she got an automatic call about being late for a bill and literally started comparing it to the shoahcaust because the call happened on Foreskin Munching Day or whatever gay Jew holiday.

they have their own ethnostate backed by the current sole world superpower and all of its western allies. and it's still not enough.
They also control most financial institutions, run the stock markets of the west, have massive influence in media and entertainment, own through central banking systems all political systems in the world except two (Iran, North Korea) and they still feel "unsafe" and "prosecuted". If I didn't knew it any better, I'd suspect the Jew is an alien on the run.

Here's one you can't make up: had a coworker who on a weekly basis would kvetch about the latest SPLC/ADL emoygency. I once heard him sperging about how South Africa only gave up its nukes because it was so raycist it didn't want the ANC to have them.

Imagine arguing that Sub-Saharan "Kill the Boer" Communists, who inherited some of the world's most advanced infrastructure yet can't keep the lights or water on or go a month without slaughtering farm families that feed them, have the civil right to a nuclear arsenal.

I know he didn't care what happened to the Boers, but he had to be aware of the six-figure number of fellow tribe members in SA (if only to sympathize with their muhppression), who would also likely be vaporized if his spiteful wishes of a nuclear-armed ANC came true.
