Here is the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/FeministsAgainstVaccination

I refuse to believe that anyone can be this willfully ignorant.

I originally thought that anti-vaxxers were against vaccines because they were opposed to exposing their kid to the unpleasentries of getting stabbed with a needle. After all, most kids (and even adults) are terrified of needles. I know I sure was.

But getting jabbed with a needle once is much more preferable than spending a week with the flu or whatever: achy, tired, feeling cold despite have a 102 degree F (39 degree C) fever, having bizarre hallucinations and fever dreams... Luckily my fear of needles has become abated due to years of allergy shots.

As callous as this is, I'd like to think the the anti-vaxxers are letting themselves succumb to natural selection. Disease will take out their bloodlines due to their stupidity and their stubbornness. However, their innocent offspring have to bear the brunt of it.

As much as these dimwits 'distrust modern medicine' enough to refuse vaccines to prevent their kids getting sick, guarantee at least 2/3 of them will be running to an emergency ward demanding cutting edge treatment if their kid gets sick with diphtheria or polio. Sure, there are some hardcore fuckbags who will insist on treating them with acai berry enemas, magic potions, meditation, and prayer. But when the chips are really down, most people will go for modern medicine cuz that shit works.

The evil part of me wonders what would happen if parents refusing routine vaccinations had to sign a release form at the same time, stating that they are foregoing the right to medical treatment for any of the shit they're refusing to vaccinate against. Obviously that's wrong, since the real victims would be helpless kids who can't get vaccines on their own. But it'd be interesting to see how devoted some people are to their own bullshit.

I think the main issue with that is that giving those diseases a bunch of idiotspawn to breed in could potentially result in them mutating into strains that the vaccines wouldn't work on. It's like letting idiots misuse antibiotics ; they don't just hurt themselves, they potentially hurt everyone around them.

I'm just hoping that any kids of anti-vaxxers that survive childhood without getting any of these horrendous diseases that, upon becoming adults, will get educated, wise up and get the vaccinations.

Someone mentioned colloidal silver. I have a friend that actually is interested in it and actually believes that it works. He cited some doctor that talked about it being used as an ointment for topical things such as burns and wounds and that it fights most germs. He even believed that colloidal silver can cure Ebola as there was some study that showed that colloidal silver broke down Ebola in a petri dish. He told me to look it up and the first few pages on Google were articles about the Ebola colloidal silver thing being a hoax as well as a scam. I pointed this out to him and he still argued that it works against Ebola.

He seems to believe things at face value and is quite gullible about certain things. He doesn't check facts or thinks critically though he likes to believe that he does.

For fucks sake guys, not to defend anti vaxxers but there's a Something Awful watermark on the image, and the last time this came up somewhere the number lead to an Australian disconnected number. It's a fucking troll.

"Let's not check our sources and assume it's an academic study!"

That FB page has to be a troll. I'm almost convinced no one could be A) that stupid (inb4 lolcow x,y,z) B) both feminist/anti-vax and be serious.

So many of the comments fail to pick up the obvious poe. I'm sad that it's brought out the stupid in the pro-fax side. At least before I could sleep easy believing the dummies were all on the other team.

There's no side so sensible or correct that it's not full of idiots. Honestly, the dumber a standpoint is, the more idiots seem to come out of the woodwork to debate against it for the promise of easy look-how-smart-I-am points. Every now and then some rere will insist on debating a creationist or a truther or an anti-vaxxer or a neo-nazi or whatever ; and get straight-up shredded because they underestimated their opponent and overestimated themself.

Even though it does set questionable precedents I do believe the good of forced vaccinations until
What really pisses me off is that by choosing to not vaccinate their kids, anti-vaxxers are choosing for everyone else, too. Herd immunity only goes so far. It can't always protect those too old, young or vulnerable for vaccinations.

There was a Law and Order SVU episode about this. An anti-vaxxer's kid caught measles and was fine, but she took him to the park before he was symptomatic and a toddler who was too young for the vaccine caught the measles from him and died. In the end the anti-vaxxer wasn't held responsible by the courts. I know it was based on real life shit but I don't remember the case. That episode was also based on Casey Anthony, but the anti-vax thing was kind of the core of it since it turned out the child died of measles.

I remember that episode. At least the anti-vaxxer mom is going to be scarred for life by seeing the dead toddler's grandfather to kill himself in front of her. (Given that the kid was the only thing that was keeping him going.)

The thing that pisses me off more is these crop of charlatans who are feeding this hysteria for money and political support. Not just the usual suspects like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck, but some political candidates like Chris Christine and Rand Paul (come to think of it, given who his dad is...). Also you have the ones that are using the problem to scapegoat others like the Hispanic refugees for being the direct cause (I'm looking at you, Sandy Rios).
