It's interesting as a standalone piece of media, but I can't help seeing it as an expression of a building cultural storm.
Hollywood latching onto popular culture's trajectory.
And fucking it up like they normally do.
Edit:
Like they're currently trying to do with anime.

Globohomo companies like Netfux are trying to ruin anime you say? I agree

Once I tried to make a Legend of Zelda MIDI ringtone with my old Nokia phone's song maker, but I got bored with it halfway through and gave up.

You'll never be one of the cool kids, OP. Does that bother you? It shouldn't.
You can make your own paradigm. When you waste energy mocking the things you hate at this level, you are granting them power.

And for all your complaining about scott pilgrim, your music completely embodies its aesthetic. Are you just resentful that a corporately driven hollywood art department pinned the tail on your donkey?

I have yet to meet a blue haired Ramona Flowers wannabe who isn't a huge twat.
So I will agree with the stated premise.

the comic is ok but the movie was absolute trash.

The comic does its relationship narrative well. The movie, while having plenty of good moments and nice symbolic foreshadowing, would have benefited from devoting a film to the adaptation of a graphic novel in the series.

...or just being an animation. Hell, let's kick off the practice of animating graphic novel series verbatim in the West.

I'd say it did more to ruin men than women. Every weeb faggot I knew was into this dumb shit. It was basically Buffy the Vampire Slayer for boys as far I was concerned. I agree with the interpretation that it was a portent of things to come with overly self-referrential pop culture overdose. Ready Player One was the end result. Someone just shoot me.

That show was a lot more self-aware than people gave it credit for. If it just had some teeth I think it'd be remembered more fondly.
