Anyone currently into Starcraft?

I really like Star Craft but mostly for the campaign. I was going to buy Star Craft 2 but they split the single player into separate games and I wasn't going to buy the full campaign three times.

Did they ever release all of Star Craft 2?
Starcraft 2 campaign is ridiculously well made though. I didn't like the second (zerg) and third (protoss) as much, but especially the terran one is a great campaign and in terms of gameplay probably the best RTS campaign ever made. There are better stories but not such variety in map design and interesting mechanics where you choose to develop various tech and make story decisions that impact which units you'll have access to later as well as other results. But without ever locking yourself out of being able to complete the game and with interesting little secrets hiddden in plenty of maps.

And yes, all 3 parts havr been released.

Part 1: Wings of liberty (terran) (command a group of revolutionaries/ mercenaries doing a variety of combat missions like prison breaks, train heists, saving infested colonies)

Part 2: Heart of the swarm (zerg) (command a zerg swarm with a nigh invincible hero that makes the whole game a cakewalk, but one of the most unforgettable infiltration missions.)

Part 3: Legacy of the void (protoss) (command the protoss and do some dragon ball z shit. Seriously I can hardly remember anything of this vampaign, it was so forgettable).

Just get wings of liberty and skip the others.

I remember watching a video on Youtube with a guy teaching a younger kid Starcraft "lessons", as in, he was getting paid to teach the kid how to play the game online. The video was an online match, with the tutor observing and giving the younger guy advice on what to do. His lessons were clearly working, because the younger person did end up winning the match with a very close, last minute maneuver.

As far as SC2 goes, I thought the campaign was fun when it first came out. Never managed to do well online, even in the very beginning when everyone was just starting out. I think my brother plays it online once in awhile still. Any time he and I played against each other, I'd be rushing to build my base, actually trying my best to do everything as fast as possible, and he'd still show up and kill everything I had within minutes. Not my kind of game. I used to really like RTS games as a kid, back when they were really popular but I have little interest in playing them now.

I really like StarCraft and Broodwar, probably in my top 3 RTS games (I am too much of a CnCfag to place it on the top). SC2 was a mixxed bag for me. I really liked the intermission fucking around and talking with NPCs, reminded me a lot of Aquanox, but story wise it was... meh. I really liked the Dark Origin secret mission in Broodwar, so I was all aboard the hybrid cockteasing and the best they did with it in SC2 was the nightmare/future scenario in WoL. I don't even recall much of the story in SC2 in general, I remember that Kerrigan fought Narud in a Dragon Ball-like anime battle, and Legacy of the Void was too much of a let down for me, there was almost no escalation in tension there and they just threw Amon at you at one mission and that was it, and I don't know how I feel about retconning the Overmind into a "good guy" with a 4D chess plan.

On a different note I really lament SC2 and nu-Blizz in general. Back in ye' olden days when Broodwar and Frozen Throne came out you got full experiences, they were fuckhuge games(expanding already pretty big base games) with a complete story, and when SC2 came out you had to grab two expansions that came out years later(there were 5 years between Wings and Legacy) to get the campaigns which finished the story.

I don't know about now, but I used to be in into when it first came out. I remember the 1st mission I played was 1st Protoss one because I liked the idea of the Protoss.

I'm into it, but not the competitive scene. As others have already stated; get placed in the beginner bracket and get matched against a dude who has been working on his APM for months if not years. I'm not angry at him for doing so, but at what YouTube and esports has done to the concept of a beginner. A beginner used to be, "I understand the buttons, build order, and tech trees." Now it's "I average 300 APM and can get 4 immortals out by 6 minute mark." I had the same issue when a girl tried to get me into LoL, she'd login when she's done at work, and I figure I'll get some time in so I'm not a complete ads bag. Queue up vs AI/Beginner, get matched to a team and say "This is my first time playing, anyone have some tips?" It was answered with, "I REFUSE TO CARRY YOU!" and the dude dropped. Fucking what? Vs AI on beginner and you're that fucking hardcore about carries?

Anyway, I enjoy going through the campaign from time to time; especially Heart of Swarm. But mainly, I hang out in the co-op mode. There hasn't been updates in 2 years as Blizz put the game into holding pattern, but co-op is fun for something different.

I like watching Artosis get trolled by Korean kids smurfing and mald. As I enjoy the strategy of Brood War (pinnacle of RTS, IMO), what else would you guys recommend? I'm usually a lazy turn-based guy, but I enjoy a little RTS here and there, even if my APM scarcely breaks 30.

Co-op mode is a fun take; you and a human ally vs AI. But each of you pick a commander (hero from the story) and they have specific units and abilities and such; they're all pretty unique and cater to almost any form of play. There's also Desert Strike; but no amount of meta knowledge can stop the game from being gay and having you lose; games can also take a long time.

I still play Brood War from time to time, though I’ve gotten way worse from lack of playing. If anyone ever wants to play let me know
