@Blasphemian nice man!
I've also finally made a start on building my haul. Went with my least favourite of the HG I picked up as a sacrificial kit to get the hang of tools with. Now I'm working on that Guncannon I picked up while I bring myself to part with money for primer/paints. I know its total overkill but that giant Vallejo AV Mecha colour kit is calling to me.

It looks great dude!

Now youre legally obligated to build Red frame kai and powered red. Alternatively Blue Astray

I'm still learning the ins and outs of what the kits are but the Blue Astray looks really cool. I think I may go with one of the Armored Core kits next. I still have to research the quality and complexity of the AC kits but they look great and I've been a fan for around 15+ish years.

Nice too see some fresh blood in here! Welcome too the fold.

Been working this MG sniper on and off last few months, I've had more time on my hands with a concussion so I've been trying too focus detail. I'm trying too go for a polished steel/blue color palette. Have yet too post "in progress" so here goes.

For all the people who like to do painting on their kits, whats personalized flourish do you add when building your kit?
if I'm doing a gloss coat I love ricing it out with a ton of excess decals. And on kits that come with dry rub decals, I like cutting off the bandai logo and sticking it in a hidden spot. I also always do the painted details on the hands and the bottom of the feet, it adds a surprising amount of life to your model.

I hope we get an MG Flag one day, or at least an updated HG. The '08 HG Over Flag is gnarly, it's one of the few kits it feels like I need to paint for it to look right, but because I'd use acrylics I'm leery of painting it since then I'd have to deal with chipping & tolerance issues at the transformation connection points.

Besides that it also lacks some articulation (hey, it transforms, I'm not saying they didn't do a good job within the design limitations), which is a shame for one of the best non-UC cannon fodder suits out there.

Does anyone know where I can find high resolution scans of build manuals for Gunpla? I know there's https://manual.bandai-hobby.net/ but the scan quality for older kits like the HG Assault Buster is terrible.
Check Dalong's website, he uploads scans of manuals along with his reviews (in the "Information" link at the top of the page). They have a little watermark on them, but they're usually good quality. Older ones when he was first starting out are a little sketchy because they're lower rez, but most are good.

Thanks, I didn't even think to check Dalong.

Small bit of news today with confirmed release dates for previously announced kits:

  • October: EG Wing Gundam
  • November: HG Zaku (GQ), MG Barbatos Lupus, HG Monkey Crab Rodi
  • December: HG White Gundam, HG Char's Zaku (GQ), HG Gundam Zagan
  • January: PGU Nu Gundam
Also, the LED unit for the PGU Nu was announced, at a whopping 15,400 yen. All it does is light up the eyes, sensors, chest vents, and cockpit, so for a quarter of the already staggering price of the kit, it feels like more than a bit of a letdown.

There's supposedly going to be another announcement later this week on Thursday, so maybe we'll see some more kits get teased. Seems rather soon after the Shizuoka Hobby Show for there to be anything really exciting announced, so I'm keeping my expectations tempered; it could end up being nothing more than showing off announced kits some more.

Is it impossible that we'll ever get modern kits of the non-mains from G Gundam? Maxter seems like an easy bet but I would love to see Tequila or Nether.

Maxter already has an HG, P-Bandai exclusive. In fact, all of the Shuffle Alliance minus Bolt has been released already in HG, and that last one is only a matter of time. On a side note, they're fantastic kits, and I definitely recommend picking them up if you're a G Gundam fan.

Beyond those, it's hard to say. HG Spiegel would be most likely since it's protagonist-adjacent, on top of it already having an MG release. I could also see them releasing an HG Rising since it's just a parts variant of Shining. And an HG Devil Gundam would be a nice upgrade to its original kit. Beyond those, it gets increasingly less likely. As much as it's fun to meme on Tequila or Nether Gundams, I don't know if Bandai would see as much of a market for them to go to the trouble of designing new kits for mobile suits that appeared in a single episode, even if they were able to reuse the frame pieces of the Shuffle Alliance kits.

Crazier things have happened, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Do you guys recommend Golden Maple Brushes? I saw a set for 20 and a kollinsky for 35 on Amazon.
I keep meaning to set aside some time to practice, but I get nervous about fucking up so I haven't really done any yet (despite the fact I bought an EG to practice on before attempting other kits). So I can't really give advice about my brushes, which is a cheap set I got from Hobby Lobby, beyond saying that either of those sets should probably be fine since they'll cover basically all the sizes you'd want to use. If you're going to do dry brushing (weathering, for example), then the latter might be a better option.

Oh yeah, the "event" today was just posting more pictures of the previously announced kits, nothing new. I'm not gonna post links to all of them here, but you can view the listings here.

Anyone know what the deal is with those ganso SD Gundam World kits? I keep seeing that SD combiner six pack that goes for over 300 bucks but can barely find any info on it, can't even find it on dalong. I don't think the new release/print has come out yet but what little I've seen said they where from 2018. The only footage besides stock photos is from 2018 tradeshows so I'm starting to wonder if they just got delayed for a long ass time, that or just no one decided to document them at all. I mainly just want to know why they're so expensive, a sixth one went up for preorder last year for like 100 buck, are they just really high quality, proto mgsd level kits?

Sup' Kiwis, I got three more Gundam with the most recent being the HG Calibarn. It's absolutely beautiful and surprisingly complex.

Next ones are the Custom Graze and the McGillis Scwaibe Graze.

I love Aerial and Calibarn. They're great designs and GWitch in general has some awesome suits despite the show being disappointing. I would suggest looking in to panel lining. I started with gundam markers, though I'm sure someone might have a better suggestion. A little bit of panel lining goes a long way to making your kit look nicer when you don't paint them.

Yeah, I tried looking up the anime recently and I just really couldn't get into it but designs are fantastic like you said. I've been watching Iron Blooded Orphans which is okay but I think the designs are weaker.

I have looked into panel lining and will 100% do it in the future. There's this tranny (I think?) that does panel lining and painting and his stuff always turns out fantastic.

Appreciate the advice
