Hey, at least you didn't boil the kit in boiling water.
But honestly maybe because I'm unfamiliar with the design but it kinda looks cool like that. If the splotchy look bothers you, you could always paint it over again to make it less splotchy, deepen the green, or you can add some panel liner brown or something to make it look like moss. After that, some light weathering on the kit and it'd look like it came from a rough jungle or something. Just an idea, but don't trust me on that too much since the last time I weathered a kit I ended up making it look like a dog chewed it.
Ah, the fool comment was about the color of the kit itself, not the marker job. They mostly did fine save for that and though I was going for more a clean-ish look it does kinda look like weathering. It looks a bit less smooth in person, probably not too clear since the pics are blurry without the flash unless I use a tripod inside the house. However, if I used the flash, which I didn't use because i didn't want the color to get washed out.
I was also unfamiliar with the design till I looked into it and found out as I think I stated earlier in the thread that they were Zakus captured/salvaged/repurposed into Federation mobile suits from a miniseries that takes place after the original gundam.
There's a lot of shots of it in the opening scene.
The green I used was a bit too bright looking at the various parts the design appears in again, but it looks good anyways. The color preview on the marker is a lot darker than what the actual paint ended up being, so that probably has something to do with it.
For some reason, it seems none of the kits have the chest or hands the green color they are in the anime.

I get you. That's why most folks just stick to HG kits for their redesign creativity. That and the price.
1/144 is the scale itself. It means that the model kit you own is a representation of a machine that is originally one hundred and forty-four times its size. 1/100 means that the original machine is one hundred times the model kit's size. Same for figures, etc. Here's a nifty measuring scale site: https://www.ginifab.com/feeds/cm_to_inch/scale_converter.html
Some kits are based on machines so big that the kit has to be 1/500 scale, wherein the original machine is five hundred times the size of the kit (or in another perspective, that the kit is five hundred times smaller than the machine/mobile suit). Other kits are based on designs too big to fit into a scale, like the Evangelions. The HG and RG Evangelion kits are technically out of scale because the Evangelions are something like 200 to 300 meters tall (whereas most Gundams are 18 to 20~ meters at their tallest).
Along these lines there's rare exceptions where Bandai doesn't care about scale, like the RG Sazabi, the RG Nu Gundam and recently the RG Hi Nu Gundam. These kits are produced bigger so that the parts complexity has breathing room and builders who buy them don't have to work with magnifying glasses and tweezers for the smaller complicated bits. lol In actuality the Hi Nu Gundam and Nu Gundam should be somewhere around the RG Unicorn's scale but instead they were made more like slightly smaller MG kits.
So as far as I know, RG Zeong and the HG Baund Doc are, if they are in proper 1/144 scale, exactly what they would look like in real life but shrunk to one hundred and forty-four times their size. Same with the RG/HG RX-78-2 and other HGs. Even the Penelope and Xi are actually in proper scale, unlike the RG Sazabi, Hi Nu or Nu Gundams. It's just that the Penelope and Xi are so insanely big that even at 1/144 they are bigger than a lot of 1/100 scale MG kits. Same for the Nightingale.
lol Well dying aside, choosing the cheaper option is always the better one. That's why I'm so harsh on describing the kits I buy, because money isn't cheap. Plus this kit looks really good so far. Harsh nub marks on those shins, sadly, but that's the way it is with darker colored plastic for any kit, even Bandai.
You should also post some of these to that gunpla and model kit hobby reddit I saw before. Like I said, Reddit is a plague but some parts aren't terrible and it seems like that's one of them. You take good pics and it'd be a shame if you couldn't share them in case something happened to this site, like if the stupid uppity haters DDoS'd us into another blackout or something. I hope everyone has back-ups they can post on for fun, not just here (although here is the peak, obviously).
Yea I have reddit, I just don't use it for posting, mostly to get to 18+ side, but may if Kiwi gets nuked from orbit. (this is not real, just a shitty creepypasta)
I walked into my apartment last night, tired of work and hoping to find relief from the issues I deal with. I had mail, a weird, blank DVD saying...
"WATCH ME!"
Hoping for something good, I put it in my laptop and it auto played. A splash screen showed up for an anime but immediately blacked out before photo could be taken. Concerned, I locked the door and continued watching. The video started proper.
"A model kit?" I thought as the video showed this image. Then the audio played, but showed subtitles on a black screen.
"My name is dkdjdkddjeodjdgjsu, and I want to bring smiles to the world!"
(Text was scrambled and was unable to be read.)
"Just the other day, I became an apprentice Magical Girl and got to work battling bad guys that make the world sad! We can't let them do this."
"God damn it, its stupid" I thought because I don't much care for the magical girl genre, only watching the crappy Sailor Moon dub when I woke up at 6 in the morning as a kid.
"One day, while casting a spell to find a familiar to guide me to the Evil One's lair, I made an oopsie!...
"I summoned an ancient deity from the depths and it showed me a vision, that if I didn't take his advice, I shall surely die and be brutally destroyed by the Evil One..."
"It's a race against time, me and the deity must put an end to the Evil One before he and his underlings destroy the world and end my aspiring Magical Girl Career."
Then, some Japanese text showed up, and then caused my DVD drive to error out.
Confused, I popped the disk out and threw it away, only a trailer for a series, while interesting, is not my taste. Then I heard a loud bang at my door. I was nervous, but it was someone dropping in I thought, so I went to the door, suddenly, for no reason at all, all I heard was...
"Fiddly Stick, I just broke your Dick!"
Confused I opened the door, then it was the deity from that trailer, and it zapped me into a skelly. It also broke my dick.
The End.... of the shittiest creepypasta I ever done. Also my first as well, and most likely, my last.
Nah but seriously, this kit is very nice, I didn't follow directions to build a club/wand, but I built the deity that is chained (with real chain) to Darkness. I also found out that the Nuke Matrix kit I built, its hands are the same design of peg so I used the blue peace sign for Darkness for that sassy pose. For the price (about $6 its pretty good. There is also the witch, but she's valued beyond reasonable cost. (Major reason why I don't expend over 100 for any model kit unless there is a reason for it.) So, in probably my last model kit review of the spooky season. I wish you all a happy Halloween, don't eat so much chocolate you get sick, and Always wear protection, don't want spooky stuff to break your dick now do ya? LOL Hope your builds go smoothly and have a great day!
Reddit is trash but there's some boards that aren't that bad, or at least the model kit one is pretty neat. You can post and find posts of pretty fun quality sometimes. This pic in particular got me good:
That Darkness Magikko makes really wish I picked up the Witch version when I had the chance to, I'm not betting they'll reprint it any time soon. They should make more hairs in that slightly translucent plastic.
Well, I finally caved and might be getting a RG Eva 06 after all thanks to my family, although the one they found is missing the halo and the spear. This means it won't go for as much if I want to sell it down the line like I plan to with some of my other kits. Otherwise it's all there, though, and I got it for about 8 bucks less (and theoretically a month or more sooner) than I would if I'd have pre-ordered it brand new.
Does anyone have any of the RG Eva kits? Are they too unique to modify and repaint or do you think they could get some creativity going without the parts not fitting properly anymore? I might not do anything to this kit, maybe just a gloss coat, but I was thinking that if I can't resell it for that Eva-tier money in the future I might as well repaint the yellow parts orange. Maybe crimson red, sort of making it resemble a cross between Units 02 and 00 (classic, since the dark blue isn't almost black like the original design). With that color scheme and the unique head it'd basically be a symbol of Asuka, Rei and Kaworu in one. The ultimate waifu Evangelion lol

The "original" colors are shit, use the original test unit with the red details, the contrast of dark blue + light orange + black and red is fucking nice, it is the best Evangelion colors of all franchise.
Also, does anyone knows any youtube plastic model reviewer like Hobby Clubhouse? It is literally the best reviewe I ever found, and I am tired of the boring shit like mecha gaikotsu.

Kakarot197 does some and there's a website called Dalong that has an extensive database of kits. It's in Korean but there are pictures for every kit featured there.

The RG Evas are very paintable. Great color separation, hidden seam lines, the armor is all built up on an inner frame that can be separately painted and it’s all easily removable.
The stock plastic colors on the Mk 6 kinda suck, it’s way too bright and looks more indigo than the canon dark navy blue.
Thanks! I plan to give it a metallic dark navy blue base color. Hopefully the orange comes out good to replace the yellow. Gonna follow the idea the @Registration gave with that helpful drawing of Mk 6.

Happy spooky month everyone! I somehow crawled away from the wally mines to get another model kit. This time, it is a kitbash/custom colored model of the Wave 1/144 Cyber Troopers Virtual On Temjin. For those that don't know, Virtual On is a mech fighting game released on the Arcades, then Saturn, noted for its control scheme of using 2 joysticks to pilot the mech. This model is based off its Saturn/Arcade appearance. View attachment 2603998
Now this kit was very easy to build and the painting was kinda interesting. I was going to use primer surfacer on the white parts and paint pearl white, it turned more into whitish silver, which looks impressive. The metallic purple looks cool and was more for making it look like a mash of red and blue. This kit was a while coming because I had the 2p version first, but it was missing a part that made the leg, specifically the shin. I got the 1p version recently so I mashed them together, sharing complete mold designs, it was a simple kitbash. View attachment 2604013
For the build, it was something small and was very simple, the only problem is sourcing the kits because the kits are old (released in the late 90's) so just a simple word of caution, you may be paying a bit for the kits (there are other kits from this game by Wave, but I haven't found much about them due to age of kits) and like I said about the Volks kits being a bit glue happy, that leaves the Hasegawa kits, which do need adhesives to a degree, and the rarer Kotobukiya kits (they exist but they command a bit due to the limited release) so you are kinda stuffed when it comes to model choice for this game series. And yes it has a Saturn on its back, it was a licensed kit from Sega after all and the Saturn was a thing... I never had a Saturn, I had a PS1, but I like the aesthetic of blocky 3D graphics that existed in the mid to late 90's, reminds me of simpler times. Now, I got the Gundam Vidar Full Mechanics kit, which I'm building tomorrow because I have the day off, so look forward to that.
I hope your builds go smoothly and have a great day!
I'm a big fan of the Z'gok E and Hygogg. In GBO2 you can play them along with the Zaku Marine Type, Zock, Gogg, Z'gok, Ram Z'gok (exclusive event MS), and Zogok so far. They have one map dedicated to underwater combat and a few others with deep waters in them.
Finally got my RG Hi Nu Gundam! It is everything they say it is, with such plastic quality and color separation that honestly it would be a crime to paint this. However I did paint the gold plastic pieces since the gold right out of the runner looks like cheddar cheese compared to good ol' Tamiya gold.
Also despite its size the kit feels like an RG kit in that, although it's wonderfully sturdy and solid, it has that recent RG gunpla feel to it, that kinda finicky sense where it doesn't feel fragile but it's not as pliable as an MG. I'm not inclined to fiddle with this like an HG or MG is what I'm saying. It pulls off every pose imaginable but you need to take your time. Just be aware of what you're doing.
Also you will NEED an action base for this because once the backpack is on it just cannot stand up. This kit makes me appreciate how balanced the Wing Ver. Ka is in its design that it can still post pretty good despite being so back heavy. Also sucks there wasn't some kind of funnel stands for this or funnel effect parts, but whatever. It's still a fantastic kit. Also got the HG Revive Qubeley and that just floored me with how great that kit is, like a simple RG with how it does its color separation. Just wish the wing binders were colored pink inside. Doing it myself sucked since I'm terrible at hand painting.

It looks great! The Ver. Ka MG is the same way so they included an action base with the kit. Weird they didn't do the same for the RG considering the price point. Glad the plastic feels solid, though. Nice get on the Qubeley, too. I really hope they continue the revive line with all the HG kits.
I got my Gunpla haul all in and I don't know which kit to build next.

Bandai released their last three major HG kits at $75 to $80+ (Xi, Penelope & Nightingale). It really doesn't surprise me they didn't put in a stand here. They didn't even bother reprinting the Nu Gundam's Amuro pilot figure or even making a proper indent for the Hi Nu's cockpit (it has a cockpit space but the inner space is solid plastic; you could just carve it out with the right drilling tool and pop in a tiny figure of your choosing but eh).
Sure the amount of plastic in this thing is intense but come on. Same for the other kits. I know they're big but really? That much for HGs? Bandai looks like they're gonna be nickle and diming us more into the future.

Same! Christmas came early and I got my Daban Thunderbolt FAG in just when I finished this one. Sometimes things work out fun. Only problem is this knock off was printed in a rather dirty looking factory or something since I've gotta wipe off some gnarly smudges on a few white pieces. I'm letting it sit for now to air out after cutting them from the plastic bags. It came from Samuel Decal, who's in HK and a great seller, but the kit was originally made in China so... I don't know. Just makes me feel safer this way, like somehow any super ultra coof that might've been lurking inside will just dissipate. lol

Exactly! These things are the best in anime accurate design, build and price.

Yeah those are massive kits that just stand there. They should have came with a stand, too. Heck, the HG Dra-C Custom comes with two changeable stand mounts and the only thing new about it are the shoulders. These inconsistencies are what annoy me about Bandai and the Gunpla releases. As for your plastic, I'd just wash them with dish soap. That's what I do before priming pieces separately. Hope it turns out good! I haven't fully assembled the Heavyarms but it feels like a quality build.
Wanted to share a couple more of my old favorites that I took some new photos of recently. One is a cautionary tale and the other I'm just happy with how it turned out.
MG MS-06K Zakucannon - You've probably heard this before, but please believe me and learn from my mistakes, weathering is an addiction and it is way too easy for inexperienced people like me to take it too far. I was happy with how the paint chipping and cracking turned out; add some shading and desert dust and that's where I should have stopped.
Slipping in a Maschinen Krieger model. This is a Küster that I bashed on an API/HE selectable feed system to. The ammo drums are from a Kotubukiya M.S.G. kit, and the cabling, chutes, feed mechanisms and de-linkers are from a Tomytec Little Armory M134 minigun kit.
