Currently on the MK-II.

Needs head, weapons, backpack, and stickers at this point. Hopefully he comes out a fraction as good as your Hi Nu! The gloss looks great btw.
I recently rewatched Zeta and fell in love with the Mk-II. Its looking great so far! If you need inspiration for stickers\decals, check this guy out, its a PG, but its one of the better Mk-II's I have seen.

And yeah the gloss looks ok, better in person because it fits with the metal frame. I had plans to have a Char shelf of 1/144 kits to show his progression with suits. I have a Zaku 1 and Zeong in box waiting that I may try to knock out before putting stuff away.

Thanks for the recommendation and compliments man! Yeah, I need to STILL finish Zeta lol. But yeah, your kit looks absolutely stunning . I'm going to practice gloss on a cheap HG WELL before I get to a MG, because I want it to look just like that! I've gotten far better at sanding with my glass file use, but I want more RG practice before moving to MG. I don't want stuff like wings- looks terrific btw- to look shitty.

Overall I love yours! How does she pose?

It basically doesnt. That pose it about all it can hold. The metal frame makes it HEAVY, so putting it on a stand is a no go. The stand you see there is only there for the Nu to lean against. I ordered fin funnel effect parts but I seem to have lost them, I was hoping to have the fin funnels flying off, which would alleviate some of the weight on the backpack.

The fuel cannisters do a lot of work holding it up outside of the stand, it tends to lean back a lot.

I regret my decision to go with the metal frame for this one, I think it would have looked better on something like the Exia or Sazabi, something less back heavy.

Heres a pic of it today, where its sat on my dusty bookshelf since being built. You can see how its sagging backwards into the stand, putting all its weight there. Compare to the NuFF next to it, which has a HUGE backpack on and has stood in the same position for months.

I still have all the pieces to make the internal frame and replace the metal frame, but I think I would rather just build another Hi Nu if it came down to it.

Well that's a little sad but it still looks good and looks heavy, even in the picture. There still is something to be said about heft

The body of the MK-II is finally done. Now comes weapons and stickers baby. I had to leave quickly this morning, so didn't get to play test it much, but it's pretty smooth. The horns on the head are annoying tho, and the way they're placed, it's gonna be hard to glue them. But that's just bitching. This is the culmination of months of slowly savoring the build. I love RG's now. More pics will come when fully finished. Mountain Dew can for scale

I love RG's now.
Is this your first RG? Can you post the decal sheet that comes with this? I am determining if I want to put one on my list.

I am someone who is very on the fence about the RG line. I absolutly hated the FA Unicorn, ZGok and Qanta. They just felt like a pain to assemble, and the FA completely fell apart on me.

That being said, I have built the Nu and Sazabi since and both of those are tremendous. I think something clicked at Bandai because a lot of recent MG and RG kits have been rock solid. It makes me hesitant to pick up older RGs because I know the new ones are just so much more fun to build (personally). I would kill for a RG Psycho Zaku and FA Gundam (TB), I love both designs and have the FA in HG. I dont want to get the Ver. Ka for either, I just hate the trash back limbs.

It says it goes up to 115. Probably won't put most on, the kit looks great as is with its weapons, probably just the Shiney ones and the ones with words on them.

Well, I'm in the mood to get a new kit after running around looking at recent restocks in my area. Here's what I'm looking at and prices:
  • MG RX-78-2 3.0 ($60)
  • MG Kampfer ($60)
  • RG Destiny Gundam ($36)
  • RG RX-78-2 ($30 at Hobby Lobby, 40% off this week so $18 instead)
  • RG Char's Zaku II ($40/$24 at HL)
  • HG Penelope ($70/$42 at HL)
I also found a RG Titans Mk-II, but I already have the A.E.U.G. version built so that's not a high priority. I'd prefer the Xi Gundam over Penelope, but I was damn shocked to see it at Hobby Lobby of all places. Then again, they've slowly but surely been increasing how many Gunpla they have in stock; I remember when it was just a couple kits and now there are a couple dozen available, including some MGs now. Anyone who's built any of these, opinions?

I have the MG RX78 3.0. Great kit with shitty hands.

60 is a bit high for it though. I think I’ve seen it lower, great kit if you don’t already have an RX78 I would say it’s the best one to get that’s not PG.

I am biased against older RGs so I can’t give a good opinion on the ones listed. The MG kampfer is 20 years old and I am not sure how it holds up. Penelope IMO looks pretty bad withought serious painting.

Also I don’t know if you’d checked but Amazon had a restock recently. Some very good prices on kits including two that every builder should have.

Have you ever bought any Kotobukiya models? Some of their stuff beats Bandai kits in terms of customizability an posability. Bandai is producing their 30 Minutes Missions/Sisters series sort of to compete with Kotobukiya's models, and some of the stuff that's coming out next year is seriously impressive:

Some of their series are designed so that they can be combined freely, e.g. you get one kit that's a mech's cockpit and build the rest of the mech from various parts and weapons that you can get separately. Those action figure style girls work the same way, there's a shitton of optional kits for them, and Bandai's 30 Minutes Sisters are basically the same concept, and they're all compatible with each other.

Personally I have never had the interest to purchase one. My love for Gunpla comes from the show, which itself is an ad for the model kits. The closest I got was White Glint, but I heard that kit has a ton of issues. I also looked at the SAC Tachikomas which seem pretty decent, but again just never pulled the trigger.

I am also a straight build man, so the customization of stuff like 30MM never interested me.

You should post what you have built here though, this thread is so slow and I am always interested in neat looking models even if its not a Gundam.

I only have Lirinel from 30MS, which I'm going to post later, but in the meantime you can have my EVA-01 (Kotobukiya) and Zowort (Gundam). I'm very new to the hobby so they're only basic builds with simple panel lining and decals.

If you have any more angles of the Zowort I would love to see it. I have the Zowort Heavy in my backlog I just packed up. If you are an Eva fan I have heard very good things about the RG line from bandai, but I know the Koto kit is more anime accurate so YMMV.

Did you build these close together? Since I have 0 experience with the Kotobukiya kits did you notice a difference between the two?
