I've heard a lot of Gunpla nerds say that older MGs are not nearly as good as new ones. Anyone know exactly which release was the start of MGs getting good?
Char's Zaku is an absolutely phenominal kit. i gave one to an irl friend of mine when he expressed interest in the hobby, and he loved it, as its the perfect balance of nice looking, yet not hard to put togetherI decIded to jump head-first into MGs and blow my wad on the Char's Zaku and the Barbatos in addition to the RX-78-2 Origin and Ball ver. Ka I already ordered. Been building the Origin since yesterday. These are so much more fun to build than MGs. I just wish I had some painting ability so it wouldn't just be panel lined.
No idea, but that looks pretty cool. Except, why does he have armor everywhere except for his groin?anyone have any tips on how i would go about painting the straps on this kit? i tried using a gunpla marker but it just does not want to dry. View attachment 1873798
Nice! I like that kit, and it's good to see another Wingfan. Is that big Gundamn bust on the shelf the Zeta?View attachment 1884027
Kampfer was my recent-ish model. Got it about a year ago.

Love building as a stress reliever. Might get back to buying again. I usually stick to UC but i think I'll buy another 00 model
I could never get into the Astray's design. No idea why. But that Freedom V2 looks beautiful.Red Frame Astray -MG

Nice! My favorite Agumon digivolution, too. Did you do any painting on that because it looks too badass to just be a straight build.View attachment 1883702
Just got this guy built up. What a fun easy build, highly recommend to anyone looking for something a bit bigger then a HG but easier then a MG. I really want to get metal garurumon and omnimon now.
Post pics. I hear the pistons are especially fun.I just built an MG Barbatos, shit's rad as fuck.
Nicely done, and good choice. I barely remember Macross but I do remember the giant elf people and fun mech designs. Are you that big of a fan of the show?Reading through here and just enjoying all the different models on display. Great job on your building and painting. Now, I've been busy with limited income so I haven't built a big model, but I did get my hands on a 1/144 scale macross 7 stealth valkyrie. It was dead simple to build (snapfits be praised), but I was trying to use Gundam Markers for some lining work, but my silver was pooling so the legs are now silver, but I think it came out ok. I also painted the eyes red with Gundam Marker and it came out awesome. It doesn't transform sadly, but it did come with a separate jet mode (not pictured due to it being nothing but a jet), and it was cheap too (eBay is saying around 45 to 60 after tax and shipping). So for future projects I plan on sourcing a Legioss variable armo-soldier from Wave (major difference between variable and the set versions is that its unpainted) and trying to source Dappy's family. But, until next time.

Cool! I wonder what would be the best pose for a glow in the dark RX-78. I also wonder how they got the plastic to be like that. Would be cool if there was a diorama of Chernobyl to go with it.So hyped up, just got my confirmation email that I won this bad boy from the Bluefin 2020 prize draw. Local store was giving away the tickets with Gundam purchases over the holidays.

I'm not into tabletop but that actually sounds really fun. I imagine it'd be cool to kitbash and bring your own Gunpla to a tabletop and pit it against others in a 40k style setting. The big draw for me was that apparently there's a fairly elaborate fan game made by old-school 40k fans using 1/144 scale kits.
Straight build. It looks even better then my shitty phone camera can show. Love it so much its so clean.Nice! My favorite Agumon digivolution, too. Did you do any painting on that because it looks too badass to just be a straight build.

To a degree about Macross, I am a fan, although my favorite is the first one (Super Dimensional Fortress Macross) due mostly to watching Robotech when I was in high school (I also somehow survived the original Dragon Ball Z during summer break of high school, graduated 2011). Robotech, while a product of its time, is still fun to watch sometimes (yea its cheesy, and some plot points kinda don't add up, but I found it far better in story when compared to the original Gundam anime from the 70's).No idea, but that looks pretty cool. Thanks for the grab, gotta check it out.

Man, thankfully proper niche hobby shops like BigBagToyStore or Lunar Toy Store are still around and aren't infected with this crap. With the changing news cycle, it's never been more important to keep the conversation going about racial equality. We are proud to introduce our 1st sheet of waterslide decals, developed with

I got to it too late, but good call. Thanks for the news.Heads up, Hobby Lobby is having a 40% off sale on model kits. Its pretty picked over but I managed to go in and snag a Eevee and a HG Gouf.
I have a local store but you can try your luck online.
Haven't seen any. Most third party stuff I see is too generic for that or otherwise is just metal detail up parts that rarely match the price point.finally starting my moon gundam. anyone know if theres any third party decal sets for it?
Most things made after 2010 are good, but it strongly depends on the individual kit. The Unicorn MG is highly problematic, as is the MG Delta Plus. Both are quite recent. Meanwhile I have an old Zeta-variant MG from the early 2000's that is fairly plain and bland by MG standards but transforms perfectly and is solid as a rock. Just look up reviews for whatever kit you're buying, preferably with reference videos so you can see for yourself.I've heard a lot of Gunpla nerds say that older MGs are not nearly as good as new ones. What's the best way to reinforce MG Zaku's chin attachment of the head hoses? Mine are super loose in the front. Most things made after 2010 are good, but it strongly depends on the individual kit. Oh, and it depends what your tolerances are, too. Some people utterly hate 3rd party kits and consider them dreadful, but I've never had one I disliked. I even liked the MG Unicorn. But I don't consider occasionally needing to reinforce or loosen joints to be an issue, whereas for some people it's an absolute dealbreaker if bits fall off their kit while they're casually messing with it.
That era of anime fandom is probably why I hate anime to this day (aside from the terrible, lazy human animation). Not Gunpla related, but when I have the cash I kind of want to get an ermine plush and sew a jacket and hat for a DIY Rommel plush. Particularly so I can carry it around because lol same seiyuu while cosplaying Ghinius.
I refuse to believe Rommel isn't a ferret IRL that gets on GBN when his owner is away.
Also I need to get some Eva 02 stuff because bestgirl
As for Wing, to me the biggest issue with it isn't so much the series as it is the fandom back in the day was such a horrorshow. I'm pretty sure a lot of the elitist UC fan shitting on AUs stuff started as an overreaction to how godawful the Wing fandom was, with UC fans at the time wanting to put as much distance between themselves and the Wing insanity. It was pretty much the Voltron or Homestuck fandom of it's time, with the yaoi fangirls being particularly badly behaved.
Seriously, bitches would send people death threats just because they made a general fansite that didn't have any yaoi content on it, and if you liked Relena or shipped her with Heero you were Satan incarnate. I've posted about it a bit in the shipping thread in Community Watch, Wing fans and especially yaoi shippers were fucking nuts.
It was an interesting time, that's for sure. That said at least it was long before tumblr SJW shit existed, but the Wing fandom got pretty close to that level of toxicity at times. It was probably the worst of the anime fandoms at its peak, especially with shipping drama. That era of anime fandom is probably why I hate anime to this day (aside from the terrible, lazy human animation).
Yeah, I'm not convinced that 3D printers will ever be able to print perfectly smooth material that requires little to no alteration before use. Shame. Free homemade PGs would be fun....I kind of wonder if a 3D printer would be able to do the kind of curves that something like a Tallgeese or Gouf/Zaku has. Might require some light sanding afterwards.
I also kind of wonder if I'd get hit with C&Ds for printing any of these things.
