How many other games made such unique use of the analog sticks?

Ps2 had some interesting ones. Stretch panic used the analog to control the attack scarf, though that was more of a glorified tech demo. Graffiti Kingdom had the tricky but creative drawing functions.

I loved the Ape Escape series when I was younger, I haven't replayed them since but reading this thread has got me tempted to go track them down again.

Confession time, I picked the female character in Ape Escape 3 because she was cuter and a nicer change of pace than the very generic male character.

I had a friend that played with her because she is technically thw easy mode

Huh, never knew that, I don't remember monkeys not running you from you but it's been a long time since I've actually played 3.

But the male character in 3 was so generic and dull looking, coming after two games also with spiky haired dudes, that I couldn't imagine why someone wouldn't pick the cuter girl just to give 3 more of a different feel than the others if nothing else.

I am finally at the endgame of Elden Ring, just Melenia, Mohg and Dragonlord left outside of the canon endgame, so once I’m done I’m gonna install Ape Escape 2 to unwind from bashing my brains bloody. I’m actually looking forward to it.

The ape esape games have been handled weirdly shit for years, and Sony fucking shut down the ape escape studio recently after hinting at ape escape 4 for several fucking years which is a crime I will never forgive, adding to the previous crime of cancelling the global release of million monkeys back in the PS2 days. Ape escape 2 is the only one you can currently still legally buy off PSN and it shows how lazy the handling of shit is. For those that don't know, Ape escape games for some absolutely pants on head retarded reason had 2 english dubs, one for the US and canada, and the other for the UK. The scripts are literally the same for both and in each game for some reason both dubs completely swap out the Voice actors with little attempt at making them sound consistent with one another. Shit gets even weirder because the UK ones stop using the shortened/localized versions of some characters names and get somewhat more lifeless while the US ones get somewhat livelier as they progress. Anyways, BACK TO MY TOPIC I WAS GONNA GET TO BEFORE THAT TANGENT. Ape Escape 2 on the North american reigon's PSN is the fucking PAL UK version but is advertised as the NTSC US/Canada version, down to the fucking achievements all being the localized names. People used to tell me the PAL version was better back in the day when I was a kid and made fun of the VAs literally just being the Pokemon anime guys inexplicably compared to the first game's weirdly casual voice delivery, but now that I've played the PAL version I can say that they were either lying or have utterly dogshit tastes.

I don't think sony will ever rerelease 1 or 3, especially 3, since it has the theme of media parodies and companies lately have been getting really litigious over people they don't own parodying their stuff to the point that osomatsu show a few years back literally had to pull it's first episode from circulation entirely and omit/edit some media references out of other episodes for re-airings. There's also the fact it contained the sequel to the "ape vs snake" metal gear solid 3 game mode, mesal gear. The only reason that crossover happened was because the guys making metal gear and ape escape were friends or some shit like that IIRC and since both have been shafted by their respective corporate overlords we're never gonna get an official cutscene this glorious again.

EDIT: Shit I also forgot to mention the PSN ape escape 2 has weird artifact/video glitch lines on it's opening FMV cutscene I usually only see on some youtube videos solely when the quality is set to 720p and I have no clue why the fuck this is

That could feasibly kinda make sense, but the weirder truth is the fact Ape escape and metal gear exist in the same world.
