Apple and iPhone users

Apple factories in foreign countries have nets around the buildings to stop employees (see: slaves) from leaping to their deaths and escaping the horror of assembling shitty iProducts 22 hours a day.

The Nokia 1100 is the only phone that you will ever need.

I don't really care about the state of the "Apple community," or how Apple producs cater to the computer illiterate -- the latter isn't really a bad thing. What really sucks about Apple is they're "underpowered and overpriced," become obsolete in a few years, have crappy backwards compatibility, and have always had a more limited library of available software.

Oh yeah, and if something breaks, good luck replacing it without replacing the entire computer.

we could be here for a while
This consumerist "X vs Y fanaticism" thing is cancer.

Apple was good around the year 2000, when PC was struggling with what's gonna be the standard hardware and shit alike, today I'm indifferent to their products, except that they look gay as fuck.

Also no one else have a Caterpillar S60? O.S. it's shaggy and stutters a lot on certain apps, screen resolution is kindda shitty, but the camera is thermal, totally recommended for that needed lolz while fucking.

They have everything for MacOS and also every major Linux/FreeBSD package, which you can compile and install using something like homebrew. Having a BSD-based OS makes a lot of things like that easier. Their main weakness is really that they're shit for games.

I am currently running a 2010 MacBook Pro that has never had a problem and has been on nearly 24/7 for 8 years straight. It often goes as long as a couple months without needing to be restarted.

I made this post because of a 2010 MacBook Pro tbqh and it is a solid laptop. It only broke because of physical damage. The more recent ones I haven't heard much positive about (especially given the keyboard faults)

But yeah the terminal aspect of Mac OS X is its only real strength for me, otherwise its a trashcan OS that has difficulty keeping up. Its different when you run commands through the terminal though.

I do know that Windows 10 has implemented "Linux within Windows" now:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-win10

But I haven't tried it yet. I haven't heard anything particularly negative about it though.

I might look into that. It's hard to take Apple seriously now. They used to have some credibility because of the existence of Steve Jobs. He's dead now. What does the current CEO have to offer? Oh, he rams his dick into other dudes' asses or gets dicks rammed into his own asshole. Very progressive. How does this make my computer work better?

Also why are you spying on me? Why can't I install the software I want?

But didn't we tell you our CEO has buttsex? That's very progressive, right?

HOW DOES IT MAKE MY COMPUTER WORK BETTER?

I just posted this in A&H:

Apple's most recent WWDC/yearly event and they didn't announce a single new computer. Some of their products haven't even been updated (beyond minor configuration tweaks) in years. They're starting to piss off their customers well.

I think they may be considering a move to ARM processors but that would probably still take some time and I don't think their hardcore users would be very happy with it.

WWDC was a cocktease for bringing their iOS ui framework to the Mac. If they get it out next year like they promised then bring out an ARMBook in 2020, they will have solved their software issues from all the iOS devs jumping across.

I'm fascinated by the way Apple has basically turned its back on the primary/secondary Education market. They've actually fallen to # 3 now, beyond both MicroSoft and especially Google in the USA. As an oldfag I remember when they owned the thing. You'd think that sitting on the mountain of cash they're holding on their balance sheet they could develop a creditable alternative to Google Classroom. Or at least start working on one. But, nope. Google is #1 and if they're being challenged by anyone, that someone is Softie. :|

Apple wants to sell more iPads to schools, but Google already owns the education market

Windows continues to be the preferred choice in the education sector

Isn't WWDC supposed to be just for software? I have a vague sense hardware is typically not brought up there. No lover of Apple, but I think the show went off pretty much as advertised.

Pretty much unavoidable, since Foxconn (the company Apple outsources manufacturing to) pretty much makes everything.

iPhones are one of the the few smartphones you can reasonably expect to get software updates for years. As in, least disposable things you can get from the smartphone market.

The laptops are ok, the keyboards drag it down. Desktop hardware is a joke though. I sure hope it’s because of bigger changes coming down the road, but eh. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I've never understood why someone would pay iPhone money for a phone and not get an iPhone. I have multiple apple products and they're all great. Their current laptops are shit though.

I have an iPhone 6S Plus. I like it. All my previous smart phones were Android. My main issue with Android was the performance. I love the performance on iOS, but do miss the rooting features you can get on Android. Still on 10.3.x and works pretty well. The performance issue with Android was because I was using cheap phones ($150-250 range). Looking to get a high end Android phone next in the future. Probably a OnePlus or Samsung.
