To be fair, those names were from when the dogs were bred for those purposes, and not as a third testicle for some thug. I think with all the abuse, there needs to be stricter laws about service animals. I think they should be required to wear a vest, and you should have to have your papers in case someone asks. I'm guessing the "American Staffordshire Terrier" comes from the possibility that this dog is a Staffie crossed with an American Bulldog.

Purebred Staffies were traditionally always excellent with children here in the UK. Then about ten, fifteen years ago, the exceptional underclass decided they looked a bit like pit bulls (which are within the penumbra of the dangerous dogs legislation here), crossed them with some big handy looking bastard breeds like the American Bulldog, and systematically mistreated them and then bred the most aggressive ones.

Now the UK's dog shelters are awash with Staffie crosses and even purebred Staffies that no one will adopt because they have been given this tag of "devil dogs". It took a lot of fucking speds a lot of time and lot of wickedness to transform a breed that was famously good natured with kids into a breed that people literally cross the street to avoid.

It pisses me off. Dogs are euthanised everyday here because they look like a breed that speds wrecked.

I like pitbulls very much, I think it's more that their owners are lolcows. Some people claim the problem with pitbulls is that they "snap" and bite without warning, but I don't know how much stock I put into that. Too many people are just idiots around dogs.
And the owners can be huge lolcows. Not just the people who get them to act tough, either. They will talk about how discrimination against pitbulls is just like racism, and other inane things.
At a store I worked at once, a woman came around asking for support for some sort of pitbull petition or rescue or something. The owner told her he would not support it because his nephew had been mauled by a pit bull. She started posting all over his businesses social media, telling people not to patronize his businesses because he was against pit bulls.


In general, even I think service dogs are getting out of hand. Wherever I go there seem to be dogs. I can't tell if an establishment is pet friendly any more, or people are just bringing them in and claiming them to be service dogs.
I LIKE dogs but it's sort of ridiculous how many random dogs there are nowadays in stores, restaurants, malls, just everywhere.

That's horrible. I knew people who rescued pit bulls, from subhuman shit like drug dealers. It's absolutely heartbreaking to reach out and pet a dog, and the dog cringes, growls and tries to snap at you, not because it's mean, but because nobody has even just pet it. Any human it has ever encountered just hit it or abused it. It's ridiculously hard to rehabilitate dogs like this, because they can literally just rip your fucking face off if they flip out.
