If I wanted to get the opposite of this, like a smart phone without google, what would be my options?
GrapheneOS. It replaces the stock Android by de-googling it. (Or, if you need Google services, you can sandbox them like any other app.) Ironically, it needs a Google Pixel to run. But, they are making a version to work with a Motorola phone in 2027.

Whenever I see prices like these I instinctively think of all the other things that could be bought with that money, of much more value and use to me or anyone else. The amount of time I would have had to work at my first, or current job to make that much. Most of the advertised "features" would be an invasion of privacy I would attempt to disable or avoid on anything I use. And despite all of this, I also know that the ridiculous prices are not ridiculous. Apple has an exact mathematical model that gave them those numbers as what their customer base will pay.

Then fuck off and buy that shit instead.

Samsung makes more expensive phones than Apple does, do you whine in Samsung threads too?

iPhones are for hipster faggots and kids who need to have the latest fucking device to drain all their attention into. You wanna know what cell phone I have?

Not my actual phone, but mine's a similar looking dirty old prepaid phone from the 2000's that I've held onto for 20 years. I also have an android phone that I use for surfing the internet because I don't need a big computer.

Then why are you here?

While there are a few things about my iPhone I like, I don't think my next phone will be an iPhone

Why the hell can I not copy and paste magnet links?
Why can't I just download any image regardless of if the image has text on it or not?
Why can't I set the browser to close all tabs on exit, so when i launch it next it isn't flashbanging me with whatever I was last browsing?

There's all these little limitations because of how the OS is baby proofed and it's getting annoying, but I still have a year and a half left in my contract.

The iPhone Duo impressed me, from the looks of it it's going to absolutely embarrass the Z Fold 8 when it comes onto market. For only 100 dollars more than the Z Fold 8, you get
  • active stylus support (and it actually works with the same ones for the iPad unlike with the Z Fold's before they dropped it)
  • under display camera on the inner display (and a 12 MP one at that, compared to the pitiful 4MP the Z Fold 6 had before Samsung ditched it)
  • Apple's best cameras (if you want the S26 Ultra main camera you need the Z Fold 8 Ultra which costs more)
  • A hinge that can stop in the middle for laptop/flex mode (Requires a Z Fold 8 Ultra)
  • Dust resistance (neither Samsung has it)
  • Stereo sound in both orientations on the inner display (neither Samsung bafflingly has this)
  • MagSafe/Qi 2 (To be fair no Samsung phones have this and it's mostly to support reverse wireless charging, but I find the magnets more useful)
And on top of that you'll have iOS's superior tablet ecosystem and UI quirks that will make it better to use than Samsung's offerings. The phone isn't for me and I'm not buying one, but it's better than what the competition is offering and priced about the same, the only thing the Samsungs have over this is weight and thickness and that's it

I’ve only found a workaround for that, and it’s the screenshot the image and then save it.

You can set safari to close tabs after a day. But nothing when you exit safari. Kind of sucks that Apple doesn’t have this feature since they tout security so damn much.

Once again, Apple wasn’t the first to do it, but their version is better than everyone else’s.

I hope Apple makes some kind of big AR innovation in the nearish future. A competatively-priced foldable is cool, but I crave something like the Apple Vision Pro that could be like an every-day assistant. That would get me to switch over from Android, every time I use Apple stuff it's after a really cool release. Products like the ipod, iphone, ipad. Those were like magic when they first came out, and then I always ended up switching away to more open options.

The worst part of all of this is that you KNOW the android phones will inevitably be infected with the same faggotry by their companies wanting to copy Apple. Just like how they are purging the headphone jack out of all options.
The problem with Apple compared to Android is that there's no off-ramp for the Apple ecosystem. If Google goes crazy with unwanted features in the next Pixel, it becomes an ad campaign for Samsung and alternative Android OSs like Graphene. There isn't really any downside to switching devices or OSs in the Android camp, the app store and all your purchases are still accesible. You could buy a Motorola Moto G 2026 and have a headphone jack right now, and all your apps and purchases would transfer over no problem if you were like a single-issue buyer in regard to headphone jacks.

If you’re that paranoid, use Private Browsing or just close your tabs that you don’t want people to see.

Too bad the aspect ratio is terrible and it is too wide to fit in most pockets or use one handed.

It also doesn't have Apple's best cameras; it has one tier down from flagship just like Samsung's folding phones.

The 18 pro max still has the same large "dynamic island" that hurts the viewing experience more than shitty androids with hole punch selfie cameras. Goycattle will celebrate Apple releasing essentially the same fucking phone for the 4th time in a row (BUT GUYS THIS TIME IT HAS A BETTER CAMERA AND MORE PERFORMANCE!).

I guess it's my fault for wishing Apple could revolutionize again and make a product that changes the entire industry.
IMO Dynamic Island > notch and USB-C > Lightning. But I feel that, the original iPhone was lightning in a bottle.

I will say I wasn't a fan of the new apple watch marketing and the current approach that apple health has, though it was funny to see the ad of the watch telling a chick she's fertile and it cutting to her presumably about to have sex in the back of a dude's car. It feels like it's all health data that's metric porn. Apple health telling you that you're recovering from a workout and shouldn't "go hard" today is the same energy as Sam Altman saying you're gonna want chatgpt to help raise your infant. I think the best case scenario would be to partner with Epic and the others to have some HIPAA compliant way tied to your apple id which in turn has some anonymized id that ties into mychart or something to forward bloodwork results, physician notes, and maybe diagnosis's (not that I would be in favor of this, but the bug consooomers would). The biggest and most important thing I can think though that I fully want to see is with that integration include prescription data like dosing, timing and whatever other instructions. Lack of drug compliance is a yuge thing and this would help older people.
