Today’s agenda at Apple Park: Introduce the @Pokemon team to John, talk gaming, and politely ask Pikachu to stay out of the pond. Two out of three were accomplished.

(John in this context is John Ternus, guy on the right of the photo. Next CEO of Apple in a few days)

There IS a video. It is as weird as you can expect.

A double post, but this one's more interesting.

A Subway Surfers+ crossover with Sneaky Sasquatch (Apple bought RAC7, the developers last year) has been announced, as well as a bird watching update.

And Apple's filed for trademarks for Sneaky Sasquatch merch in the EU, including:
Clothing, costumes, watches, jewellery, books, trading cards, bags, lunchboxes, towels and bedding.

They've previously applied for trademarks for merch in the US last October.

Lads. I just pulled my old iphone SE out of a drawer to get a phone number and after a quick charge this thing is STILL going strong. No lag, screen is great and bright and everything just werks™️

I dont know what magic apple is making their phones out of but this is incredible.
My SE was my active 2nd phone until January this year. I'm a small phone fag, I just dont like the trend towards the larger units. It became the second unit when I bought an iPhone X, which I found too big.
I replaced the X with an iPhone 13 mini this year.

I'm one of these people that wants a phone to just be a phone. It is handy to have access to services on a phone, but I don't want my life to exist on one. It needs to fit in my suit jacket pocket, or jeans pocket and not bulge or wear me down. It's a simple ask.

I'm also not paying £1k for a fucking phone.

I took advantage of a promo this weekend to upgrade from my iPhone 14 Pro Max to a 17 Pro Max, and I like it a lot so far. The rounded edges make it much nicer to hold.

I also found the tackiest phone case in history, so I now have an orange phone in an Ed Hardy case. LOL.

Bought a 60€ MBA from 2017 because I needed something to replace my dying Surface for traveling and I'm super stingy. Put a new third party battery in it for 40€. Tried Sequoia on it via OCLP, but it would just randomly turn off during usage. What could be the reason for it? I know that installing Sequoia probably wasn't a good idea on that old thing.
Oh and I also switched the SSD with a Samsung EVO 970 I had lying around.

Went back to Sonoma but haven't really used it since then, so I don't know if it still happens. I know it didn't happen under Monterey.

For 60€ it's pretty great, good condition still, I haven't owned anything Apple since my 27" iMac back during the Snow Leopard days.

The most likely culprit would be thermal shutdown. Did you repaste the heat sink?

I'm no expert with OCLP, but in general I have found that you can run 1 (sometimes 2) versions beyond the last officially supported version before things start falling apart.

In your case, as Samuel Fuller says, it could be a thermal shutdown, or it could just be an OS looking for something it cannot find and taking the least worst option, a shutdown. Is it a shutdown, or a sudden shut-off?

Edit: I've personally lost track of the "code names" Apple give their OS releases, so forgive me if I get something out of sequence.

Intel MacBook Airs are extremely temperature-sensitive, as Intel never got their thermals under control. They basically slow-roast themselves over a few years.

The really crazy thing is that most ultrabooks in the windows world are basically dead within five years, but the Air with the same chip will last a lot longer thanks to the aluminum body acting as a heatsink.

Was not aware of this.

I've tried OCLP on a 2016 MBP 15" 16GB i7 taking it from officially supported 12.7.6 (Monterey) to Ventura and Sonoma? Ventura worked and brought it inline with something else I was doing at the time, but I eventually wiped the unit and it sits connected to another monitor as a reference unit. Still being used though. Battery needs changed, but.

Getting into unsupported versions can cause big issues for thermal sensors and things like that, as those versions dropped support for the processors older than their cutoffs.
