do the new models come with an SD card slot?

ha ha no. But for what it's worth I've never run out of space on an iPhone from the past decade or so. Granted, I'm not some wannabe influencer and/or Facebook granny who has to take photos of everything all the time.

The cattle will be lining up out the door to acquire "latest thing" because you must have "latest thing" to fit in and be cool.

I had to buy a MacBook for school and I felt robbed. 16gb of RAM and 512gb SSD that I can't upgrade is the dumbest shit I have ever experienced. I'm selling it once I'm out of school and I hope to never go back. People praise Apples operating systems but honestly with my limited experience with them I think they suck and are made for retards who don't know how to do anything more complicated than downloading something off the app store. If I didn't need software that only works on Apple devices I would have never bought it.

Thank you for coming into a thread for people to have a serious discussion about X and posting about how X sucks because you personally don't like it. Your valuable contribution to the thread has been noted.

Nice tantrum.

I for one am quite excited about the Duo.
It’s interesting for sure, but the lack of pro camera makes it a no-go for me. Also I can’t get over how prominent the bezel is on the front screen. The image below is taken straight from the Apple Store app.

After much deliberation I’m going to go with burgundy for the 18 Pro Max.

Yeah 256GB probably is reasonable for the average person, now I think about it. I ask because I put a lot of downloaded shows on my phone because the wifi at my gym is unreliable and I need long-form moving images occupying my attention to keep me on the treadmill.

I've lived with a 256GB iPhone 15 Pro and a 512GB Macbook Pro for the past 2 years, coming from a Windows gaming PC with 8TB of drives total, and an Android Phone with a 1TB microsd.
  • I keep two 2TB NVMe drives in an external enclosure at my desk, mounted when I dock my Macbook. One is used for Time Machine, the other is just a general "stuff I only need when I'm plugged in at my desk".
  • I pay the $3/month for iCloud+ to store photos/videos. I often purge pictures that will not be very interesting years from now.
  • If I download movies/shows/games, I delete them when I'm done.
As someone who used to store everything like a museum of my travels on the internet, or store the pictures I take like it's all important historical data, it's pretty freeing to just go on a Command+Delete rampage when I've finished with things.

What coursework requires a macbook? If you really did buy one, then you must be retarded to think its a simplistic machine since it has macports, fink and brew to install pretty much any linux software you could want. And the file/internet/screen sharing options are just the same as you can get on linux with vnc server, apache and samba. If you are going to compare the latest version of Windows to the latest version of macos, I don't see where you are going with it unless you love windows tablet or something.

See? Android/Windows users antagonizing Apple are always the most insufferable little fucks. Android I can respect to a certain degree because Fairphone, GrapheneOS and the deGoogling movement are cool. But Windows turned into an adware/spyware/bloatware clusterfuck so bad and annoying, I switched my parents' PC to Linux Mint -- and not just because it was stuck on Windows 10.

macOS and Linux distros know how to be respectable operating systems that shut the fuck up and do things.

I went ahead and pre-ordered the blue 18 Pro 512gb this morning; funnily enough it’s still showing available as of now, not as much for the pro max phones. I was considering a pro max, but the weight factor and general large size (such as some clothing I have my 15 PM will fall out of my pockets). My 15 PM does get quite hot too, so the vapor chamber in the 18 pro should hopefully rectify that.
Also, here in the us, the regular pro is getting the new Apple modem, whereas the pro max is getting the same Qualcomm modem from last year (I think the Apple modem is more power efficient and doesn’t get as hot).
I went with the blue one, as I’ve figured a lighter color would hold on to heat less, vs the burgundy or black (I’ll still have it in a case, but a lighter color case too).

After much deliberation I’m going to go with burgundy for the 18 Pro Max.
I remembered to complete my checkout at 1 when the preorders went live so I should receive delivery on Friday.

Something else I noticed when i signed up for Apple Care One, I was able to add devices I already own that had passed the 30 day window to take out Apple Care.

Wtf were they thinking with this? I use my Galaxy Fold one handed just as much as I have it open and this aspect ratio would be so annoying.

I did some calculations on the resolutions of the screens using the specs on Apple's site, and my best guess is that they're trying to keep both the outer and inner screens at roughly the same aspect ratio (1.45 and 1.47 respectively) which is also quite close to the iPad mini's (1.52) - not pixel perfect but enough that an app or web page with a "responsive" design could look the same across all screens. Also, if they used a longer, more traditional smartphone aspect ratio on the outer screen, then the one on the inner screen would have to be closer to a square, right?

But that's just a guess.

been running with apple tech most of my life and i can attest to the fact they're hunks of shit. once i'm done with the current mac i have i'm going to chuck it for an actual computer that works and and doesn't try to sync to my phone and flashbang me when somebody calls me.
steve jobs only made apple good while he was alive because he was insanely strict about design and product quality; if he was alive today i think he'd die of a heart attack just due to how horrible the brand is nowadays. genuine brick-quality garbage that is designed to completely fail on you the week your initial purchase's full-price restoration warranty on it ends.

Nice bait, go choke on it.

Apple's product design during the late Intel-processor and Jony Ive era was legitimately awful, but they've made up for it now that Apple Silicon is a thing and they're not trying to shave millimeters off their MacBooks by implementing shitty keyboards.

Project Aquarius has been avenged!

You are aware that you actively have to turn on device sync and comms transfer?

Hallucinating again?
No I mean I will admit this was way back, but when folders were first being pushed as the "future" Apple was like "The quality is sub par and every fold degrades the display, we are not interested."

It's long enough ago I don't have the quote, it's like three computers back for me. I'm not an apple hater, I just can't afford to play in that playground.
