This game is great. I'm a bit worried about progression, seeing how you can grind through most of it very quickly, but I'm in the honeymoon phase still and really enjoying everything so far. I can't believe they even made the animation for surfing on an ARC drone, this game captures the ideal balance between believable and goofy.
Their roadmap content looks pretty robust with new maps and enemies for november and december so I feel like that's when we'll get everything they've been working on up until release.

Arc Raiders is unironically more scary than actual horror games.

It should be considered a horror game.

I went to farm snitches at the domes area, and took my deployable wall with me, was hella useful when I was fighting multiple hornets being summoned by the snitches, but as I ran out to the extraction point.

A rocketeer caught wind of me and started to creep closer to my area, it was facing me and coming towards me while I was hiding out of its view besides the ledge so i quickly deployed my wall and waited behind it.
The rocketeer was moving in a way that was thinning my blind spot behind the wall, I was moving slowly and adjusting my position to keep myself out of its sight.

That shit was the scariest experience I had in a videogame in a long time, definitely far scarier than the indie game mascot horror slop the dominates the horror game genre nowadays.

My gaming group decided this was going to be our new go-to game and I'm actually pretty happy with it. I love the sound design and aesthetic of the world, but was a little disappointed with the character creation being so limited. I guess more cosmetic options are for later down the line and really aren't important for the gameplay at all. We'll see what kind of legs the game has in the long run but for right now I'm enjoying it a lot. Walking slowly through an abandoned workshop, hearing every footstep and creak as I search for more rusted tools or wires is weirdly enjoyable.

I'll back up what others have said about solo players being surprising cooperative. Met some cool people and some fun little raids totally impromptu. Group play is mostly KOS, but the fights are fun and even the running away can be exciting. One round we did manage to buddy up with two other groups and take down a leaper together, only for a bombardier to show up and leave us bleeding out waiting for the elevator to arrive.

The roadmap through December is great.

Personally, I think to keep the PvE element alive they need to be constantly updating ARCs, adding new ones, buffing weak ones, etc. Lore wise it would make sense that the robot overlords learn, adapt, and get better over time and it won't turn the PvE into a snoozefest you ignore while trying to hunt people to PvP. For PvE in an extraction shooter to be interesting they have to be a real, genuine threat that is just as or more deadly than other players. If the arcs weren't as scary as they were, i bet people would be a lot less friendly.

can't buff them too too much, since there's no economic way to fight the good ones, you must expend valuable resources to bring them down and the strong units are incredibly deadly and could, at any time get backup from wasps, or w/e.

the players can only shoot and reload so fast, it isn't ever going to get faster than this beyond making new, far more busted weapons, what they should focus on are more indoor enemies, rollerballs are cool and all but a bit easy.

The one complain I have for the game are the cosmetics.

Tbh, they are ass.
Though ig that is the only way to fit into the retrofuturism aesthetic the game is going for.

I am personally waiting for the leaked armor cosmetics that will come out on the future, I also really want a cosmetic that looks just like the tankhunter of my profile pic.

For me, that would be an instant buy.

the only good one is the fighter pilot set.

F-tier Rattler
What the hell are you talking about? The rattler is second to the ferro, it's cheap as shit to make and upgrade, and fairly accurate. Plus the fact that it actually has ARC utility bumps it to C in my opinion.

Any of the guns that can't do shit against ARC are dog shit, because if you're going literally anywhere outside of the starting area there will be boatloads of them.

a level 4 rattler is alright but every time i run a free kit i am always praying i dont spawn with a lvl 1 rattler

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already but the quests in this game are awful. You have to interact with certain objects on the map to complete them, but the game does a really crappy job of telling where

yea, a level FOUR Rattler, with tighter spread and a way better mag, is much better.
level 1 rattlers are dogshit, and If i'm dumping that much resources into a gun, a Ferro is superior in all regards.

One of the more disappointing aspects of this game, and this just might be a crossplay/community thing, is that co-op gameplay is pure cancer for me to the point where the game was surprisingly easy solo. I can't even fucking begin to count the amount of times randoms in my party would pick fights with randos and get their shit kicked in causing me to die, or pick fights with bigger, higher level enemies with the same result as I just mentioned. I've gotten angry messages because I apparently "left them for dead" because they either weren't paying attention to the timer or they were just wandering around doing fuck all sometimes getting themselves killed by raiders or ARC. I've even shouted it over the microphone that we're running out of time or asking where the hell they were going and they just ignored me and then got angry, then got angrier and told me to kill myself.

Same experience for me, I have tried 3 squad mode a couple times in the server slam and the first few times that the game came out, 85% of the time, my teammates were retarded and get the rest of us killed.

My teammates were more of a threat to me than the other players or Arc.

Going Solo is more fun anyways since it makes it more scary and suspenseful due to not knowing if other players are gonna kill you or not, and having to avoid the Arc enemies while being all alone.

It really brings out the best experience and might the extraction shooter where going Solo is actually best.

squads are only good if you have good friends that you communicate well with. the randos are always trash

What I've been enjoying is going to extracts, usually on Dam or Blue Gate, and throwing 3 trigger 'nades onto the lift button, then hiding in a bush and waiting for someone to run up and click the button. The trigger nades flash the same color light as the lift button, and are virtually invisible unless you know what you're looking at.

Once I see them get close enough, I detonate and collect my well earned profit.

I forgot how fun it is to grief in video games. I have been having an absolute blast training rocketeers and other Arc things onto extraction points in matches.

I think at this point a faction system might be needed, solo queues have so much cooperation that the rest of the game is trivialized.
Maybe?
I think a problem that might come from that though is with the sheer amount of ragging there is, a lot of times it just isn't worth it to fight the random shitters running around with a level 1 stitcher/kettle farming basic materials loot.

It's bad enough dropping in with any half decent set up and randomly getting fucked because some ragger with a stitcher saw you get nailed by a ferro.
I'd be more open to this if there were more to gain, but as it stands there are just way too many situations where you could spend 5-10 mins getting set up to go farm a bastion or bombardier, and it all goes to waste because you spawn far af away and a ragger gets the drop on you.
