Holy shit is the photoelectric cloak a game-changer, I had one sitting in my storage for a minute before I found out they weren’t single-use. Now, I don’t think I’ve died to an arc a single time since I started carrying one. I fucked up on Buried City and ran down the stairs to a closed subway with two comets on my ass and a Bastion right outside with a handful of wasps around and I was still able to get out of there and extract successfully.

I've picked up this game recently and one problem I've had is that it feels like there is no real way to stay in mixed lobbies permanently. I either get a few games where I don't get a fight and I slip into PVE draw opening simulator lobbies or I get a few games where I get plenty of fights and I slip into full on PVP Warzone lobbies with ADHD zoomers break dancing mid-fight. The mixed lobbies with the tension of not knowing if somebody is friendly or not is the most fun, but it's pretty hard to stay there unless I am doing something wrong,

As far as I know there is no way to have true mixed lobbies. It's part of why I gave up on the game after the first week or so of release. Splitting the PvE and PvP playerbase is antithetical to extraction shooters.

When I say PvE players, I mean people going into a match expecting people to be friendly. If the game had an offline mode I'd be fine with that.

You eventually unlock solo vs team lobbies and those are pretty fun. The leveling grind does take it's time though.

I think the only way to consistently get a mix is to play a lot of solo PvE but do a lot of PvP teams

I can see streamers stay in mixed lobbies while mostly being friendly, for you know, a 6 hour stream or whatever, but I think it's because they play a lot of 2s and 3s

Trials reward skin that doesn't look like ass?

Been a while since we got an upload from this guy, he's funny as fuck.

the faggy crybabies bitching about the PvP in this game in every corner of the internet really makes me despise most people that play Arc. it reminds me of the carebears in EVE online that would only mine and avoid PvP at all costs, because it's too heckin scary. it's a PvP oriented game, just go play a PvE only extraction shooter and have fun. oh wait, those games are dogshit, because the threat of getting killed by a player is what makes them fun. how does this not compute to like half the playerbase who spend every waking moment bitching about rats? what are you going to use the guns you find on? are they supposed to be collectibles? the PvE/PvP oriented matchmaking shouldn't even be a thing, it actually ruins the game, like somebody already mentioned. and the only reason they added this is because of the unrelenting whining online lol

Decided to pick up the game a few weeks ago. Only have about 18 hours, most of which is sitting in the menu going through my stash. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. All in all it's a much more forgiving extraction shooter than Tarkov. Important items aren't difficult to craft. Scrappy and Celeste are a good for bad luck protection if you're really down bad. I like the choice to go with aggression based matchmaking. As a newer player I would rather learn the ropes in safer lobbies and have the choice to PvP later. The ARCs are threatening enough without the risk of accidentally running into a high level raider who will one tap you just because he's bored and has nothing better to do other than ruin your run. Though I wish there was a better way to elevate your aggression without having to slaughter the lambs in PvE lobbies until it adjusts.

The art direction just isn't my cup of tea. I don't like the scavenged, retro-futuristic style, but that's just personal taste. I've been playing almost exclusively duo with a friend of mine which feels like the sweet spot for these kind of games. After a couple of very successful free loadout runs to learn the game my stash was filled quick with random junk I didn't know would be useful or not. I was selling shit praying that these random grays wouldn't be a quest objective down the line, and did I really need these stitchers after all? It took me much longer than it should have to realize you can just buy fucking stash space and I didn't need to vendor all my loot. It's not even hidden either, there's a button right there... Not fucking around with bags in bags in bags in bags is a lot more enjoyable.

My biggest complaint is fireflies are total bullshit and are honestly ruining the fun of the game. Even rocketeers aren't too much of an issue because they hardly seem to react, and are easily avoided. Leapers will one shot you with unavoidable damage, but as long as you lure them to a doorway they're practically free. Fireflies don't seem to have any counter, and come with all the instant kill bullshit of the big ARCs. They are extremely tanky, requiring no less than a hullcracker to reliably damage, and if they hit you it's game over. They don't ever have to stop shooting, the direct damage will kill you in at most 3 seconds, the lingering fire does nearly as much, and while you're being sprayed with fire you can't use items, dodge, sprint, or aim. If the goal is "just don't get hit" that would be fine. The rocketeer is a "just don't get hit" ARC that has counters due to it's limited sight and slow movement. The firefly has none of these downsides. It is the size of a wasp, just as fast, far more numerous, and cannot be killed with traditional weapons before it flies into your face. I don't know why they decided we needed the firefly when we already have the fireball. It's fast moving, heavily armored, but doesn't have a massive health pool. When you're still gearing up a character and the best gun you have is a Ferro, you just don't have the options to deal with them.

I think the idea with the Firefly is that it's meant to be an enemy that can't just be ignored even by high-level raiders. That said, it should really have worse manuverability compared to the Wasp and Hornet because it carries so much armor compared to the other two. Also, they should make the sticky grenades work better against these things.

As someone with hundreds of hours... I agree completely, Fireflies are the first ARC that truly inspire fear, the only fast counters are light impacts and hornet drivers and being very precise with an Anvil, ferro reloads slow enough you'll be doused in flame, Fireflys also can fly lower profile so they can follow you into some building and they just never stop spraying fire till you are dead, you can't run away, they chase as fast.
A hornet hast to stop to fire, same with a wasp.

Carry light impacts and don't fucking miss.

run. Though I wish there was a better way to elevate your aggression without having to slaughter the lambs in PvE lobbies until it adjusts.

load into spaceport and just start killing people when youre ready. even on carebear lobbies spaceport is just the place people take potshots at each other.

a more gimmicky thing you can do is just blast someone's shields after they hit the elevator button. they'll still extract but it counts pretty sure.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy this game because I’ve never had much fun in extraction or Battle Royale type games but I meet the most unusually lovely people while playing this. I have no idea what the community is like outside of the game (and I don’t want to look in case it spoils it lmao) but it seems great in game, especially on my regional server.

I still get a bit pissed when I’m ganked though, especially when looting, but I wouldn’t change it. Running away from ARC all day would get boring fast and the tension that PvPvE adds a good amount to the overall feeling of the game. I’ve had so many “holy shit” moments in this game. Love it. I hope they don’t fuck it up

Also, Firefly’s can get fucked.

well Mate, if I run into you, there's a 50/50 I either kill you in the most bombastic way, or help you with your task at hand, same for alot of the non-nigger players.

the Nigger players will ALWAYS snake you though, anyone who walks up to you, and is LOOKING AT YOU for more than 10 seconds, and waltzing around you, SHOOT THAT NIGGER, because he's waiting for his moment, people are almost always focusing on their task at hand or other players to kill or avoid them, anyone talking to you but not really talking to you... YOU are the task at hand.

just shoot him.

That’s fair enough, seems like that it’s supposed to be played anyway.
It’s fairly funny when I’m killed in hilarious and creative ways if I’m duped (I guess that’s mostly my fault too hahaa).

Can’t exactly say that I haven’t shot anyone before and it is a bit of fun. Especially if they’re just communicating through emoting, prox chat ain’t hard. But yeah, cunts will be cunts in any online game.

Thanks for the advice, man, appreciate it!

I wish them all a very merry Exfilcamper in every lobby they ever have. May they never know peace.

I ratted evil style the other day… against teenagers… that were helping me… forgive me…

It was super funny but pretty mean, just a game though

exfil camping is explicitly designed to be endorsed by this games systems, so they can bitch and moan but everything about Extracting is clearly built around the idea people will come and kill you, all the exfils are in little arenas, none more obvious than Stella Montis Lobby which is a death match arena inside a bigger death match arena, that lobby train station is one of the most well designed fighting areas I've ever seen in one of these games, its literally 4 layers of verticality.

Ever since they ramped up the ABMM the shits been so gay and here’s the issue.

It’s statistically better to be in low aggression lobbies if you wanna consistently do expeditions. You can’t feasibly keep doing PvP especially in solos due to resource drain. Getting placed in consistent PvP action and dealing with the garbage meta or how heavy shields barely do anything is not fun.

As someone who’s been playing the game for less than a month and exclusively solo, here’s my quick use set to guarantee you don't die to arcs:
  1. Photoelectric Cloak
  2. Shield Rechargers (any)
  3. Bandages (any)
  4. Seeker Grenades
  5. (optional) Seeker Grenades
I don’t know how the blueprint system works so this may be more or less easy a list to fill out for each run, but I have zero issues with any arcs with this loadout.

Keep the cloak ready to go at a moment’s notice and you’ll never have to worry about getting caught unawares outdoors. Seekers can take out anything smaller than a Rocketeer in 2-3 throws. If you’re trying loot/examine something and a drone is nearby, just toss a couple and you’ll have some breathing room.

That’s just some expert advice from a pro who’s still in carebear lobbies terrified of engaging with pvp. :punished:
