Archival Tools - How to archive anything.

Has anyone tried Unddit to see if it works?

it works fine in my experience. Don't know about you though,

I feel like archive.is is mega dead by this point.
It's still working but has been having a lot of issues for me since around April 22. Pages are taking longer to archive, going through reload loops more often, seem to be failing to archive more often, the pages time out or are very slow to load once the process is complete, and then images often time out. But as long as things are being saved, these can be resolved at a later date.

When it comes to TwitterX, it's always a crapshoot. Tried Archive.today and Ghostarchive on a bare Twitter link yesterday and they both failed differently. And then the Nitter instances are generally abysmal. All I expect to do for tweets is screenshot them and/or copy paste the text, which is better than nothing.

It is better than nothing I guess. Twitter is mega dead

I'm not even sure why the creator doesn't talk much online?
Trannies and others want it destroyed, because it has stored reams of evidence and doesn't bend the knee to anyone, like Internet Archive sometimes does. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

There was this recent Cloudflare DNS issue:

There was also this weird "feminist association" gayop against it in March:

Hard to search for this stuff on KF because millions of posts will match for "archive".

That is pretty weird. But wouldn't they also wanna archive stuff as well? Why destory your enemy’s greatest invention against them?

Because archives are more detrimental to trannies than their enemies. You can archive all of my posts but nothing I've written is as horrifying as, for example, advocating to troon out minors, so I don't care if you archive them. But if I was a tranny and I wanted to groom children, I would do everything to make sure my shit wouldn't be archived.

Because I have seen some faggots in the Jirad thread linking videos without downloading and uploading them to The Farms, here is a beginner-friendly guide of downloading videos with Open Video Downloader, which is a Graphical User Interface for yt-dlp, and uploading them to the Farms.

1) Click this link: https://github.com/StefanLobbenmeier/youtube-dl-gui
View attachment 5611397

2) Go to the releases section and download the windows executable version.

3) When the executable is finished downloading, double-click it and you will see this:

Wait for ffmpeg, ffprobe and yt-dlp to install.

4) To download a video, copy the Youtube URL into the white bar and click the add symbol ("+")

It should like this:
View attachment 5611437

5) ALWAYS choose between 720p, 480p or 360p so the video can stay under 200 MB and can be uploaded to The Farms. Make sure to select the resolution on both options. Also, click the Load button so the size of the video can be determined before downloading and select Video + Audio on both selections.

6) Click the green download button and wait for the video to download. When it's downloaded and it's under the 200 MB then it can be uploaded to The Farms.

7) To upload the video to the farms click the three dots for more options and then click the "Insert Video" to upload your video.

for my post below :
TL : DR
- save YouTube thumbs when they are good/funny and piss off twitter/X/reddit/etc. I'll show how in Spoiler below.

_

I really appreciate the above post/link and "do it like this" for dummies. I'll try to contribute.

I might be late as hell to this as it may already be well known and maybe there are better ways, but this requires no reading page scripts, taking screenshots nor third party programs (I know some browsers 'inspect element' can lead to results, not always, and can confuse).

The recent drama over the Muta/Keffals video thumbnail reminded me of this "trick."

You never know when a video could get taken down or even just changed (thumbnail) on YouTube because of people bitching and the creator caving, and if a copy of the video is downloaded and only stored locally you will lose the thumbnail (unless I missed an option in OpenVidDler quoted above), plus we know some archive sites are unreliable.
_

When it comes to YouTube there's a very easy way to save thumbnails without reading code or using any extension/program. You just need to know where thumbs are stored.

Copy the YouTube video URL which I will put in bold ( it comes after the "watch?v=" )
Only that part of the video url, if there's junk after it because it's part of a playlist or timestamped, remove that stuff.

Using Musashi's video I quoted above as an example
- youtube.com/watch?v=9JRLCBb7qK8

paste that into the url where the picture is stored, replacing where I put "VIDEO" in bold
- img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEO/0.jpg
becomes
- img.youtube.com/vi/9JRLCBb7qK8/0.jpg
and there you should have a thumbnail size image of the video thumbnail (480x360)

note the image name "0.jpg"
probably rename that to something useful if you save the image
frogs-0.jpg

Now let's go bigger:
same video url - 9JRLCBb7qK8
paste that into the url where the max resolution is stored, replacing where I put "VIDEO" in bold
- i.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO/maxresdefault.jpg
becomes
- i.ytimg.com/vi/9JRLCBb7qK8/maxresdefault.jpg
now you should have the full size thumbnail (1280x720)

again, the image name, this time "maxresdefault.jpg"
probably want to rename if you save it
frogs-maxresdefault.jpg
(click for big)

This should go without saying but DOWNLOAD the thumbnails once you have them and upload them here for local storage, never image leach.

- "Why Keffals is a fraud..."
- Yo1_zQ1iTLs

"0.jpg" (480x360)
muta-kef_0.jpg

"maxresdefault.jpg" (1280x720)
muta-kef_maxresdefault.jpg
(click for big)

Hope that all worked and reads well enough. Give it a shot.

(also using the above method you can get a good look at click-bait images that are never in the video.. no, not those ones, get you mind out of the gutter)

Archive.is isn't working with facebook posts at all, and ghostarchive is being weird. The "true" value in the archived URL has to be changed to "false" for anything to show up, and even if you copy/paste the "false" link, it just defaults back to "true" when clicked on. I want to retard-proof this as much as possible. Are there any other options for archiving facebook posts?
